Hi /mu/.
I never really cared about music, until recently a friend of mine recommended me a few albums.
So I've started to wonder what's out there for me, and I tought this would be a nice place to ask.
Among the albums recommended to me I really loved Whenever, if ever; Harmlessness and People Who Can Eat People are the luckiest people in the world, so you can use those as a reference for recommendations.
Also, keep in mind that I literally listened only a few other albums other than those I mentioned, so you can throw at me any kind of "You must have at least heard of this" album, because I most likely didn't.
Thx in advance.

I have zero understanding of music theory and have never played an instrument. However I do wanna try and make some beats and give rapping a shot.
i have been making some beats in FL studio (copying from yt vids) and they are pretty fucking lit so atm im pretty confident.
>>72413684
Whatever you have and -5 years of school
thats pretty much all you gotta do desu
- Learn how to actually make beats
then
- Listen to various hip hop artists and outfits to see if there's something you hear that you like, get ideas from it

Best I've seen from any of these threads. Nostalgic64 definitely deserves number 1 spot.
Only major difference I'd do is SS3 instead of SS2.
>>72413723
>Rodeo
lol are you serious
If you don't include Flockavelli in your list and at least one Gucci release your opinion will be discarded, and any inclusion of Travis Scott will result in the same.
What are some of /mu/'s favorite Steely Dan records? So far mine is Aja.
https://youtu.be/v_Z8Ux7jC_U
Gaucho, Pretzel Logic, Can't Buy a Thrill, and Countdown to Ecstasy are my favorites.
>>72413620
Sweet, I'll check those out. Thanks anon.
the royal scam, aja, and gaucho are the holy trinity of the dan.
pretzel logic and countdown to ecstasy are also really great albums.
each one had to take a while to settle with me before they clicked but all of them have. well im still getting there with katy lied but i still enjoy listening to it from time to time
U2's highest charting song since Vertigo (which went to #31 in 2004)
>>72413570
XXX is a very good song.
Vertigo only went to number 31? That shit was the top itunes download for like two weeks straight.
U2 will continue to be a high-quality top 40 band, but only if you respond "Thank you based kung fu man" in this thread
ITT: overrated record labels
Besides Kendrick and Schoolboy Q everyone else on the label is mediocre at best
>>72413431
Whats wrong with it? Is it because its just Sleep, Earth, and Sunn mixed in with a lot of whatever bands?
>>72413431
warp
they had a good core group in the late 90s/early 2000s but they've signed a bunch of shitty indie bands since
Post obscurer songs and other anons win if they hear them

electro could refer to many things, electronic, electro funk, electro house, electro swing. i assume its electronic, but electronic music is broad af, be more specific
