I wanted to make a Sebadoh thread but I figured it would get less than 10 replies so I'm throwing in Dinosaur Jr. and everything else Lou Barlow has been a part of.
Favorite Sebadoh album? What did you think of Defend Yourself?
Favorite Dinosaur Jr. album? What did you think of Give a Glimpse of What Yer Not?
Have you ever listened to Lou's solo work or The Folk Implosion?

I love this album
Thanks to Larry Clark's KIDS for making me discover this artist

Burning Paper is one of his best songs.
A lot of those 90s lo-fi nerds were incredible songwriters.
I really wish there had been a proper final Folk Implosion album. Lou Barlow needs a foil, a partner of equals to work with/against.
Hyped for Say 10?

guess I listen to much of upbeat records
I'd never cried to any media at all before I listened to this. It only took until Swims when I was bawling my eyes out.

Why do all the best math rock bands reject the term math rock?
What the fuck even is math rock supposed to mean?
Why is it math? Do they write their riffs in algebraic functions?
Math involves work. Just like listening to math rock takes work to listen to them

only mathematicians like it
post albums with not a single bad song

New EE material cannot come soon enough.

personally i can wait for a bit longer now that alt-j are seemingly returning to their roots with the new album
I've been curious what people on /mu/ thought about this in general.
I know it doesn't change the quality of whatever you're listening to, but how does it change, if at all, how you perceive an artist/group that has a ton of people writing their songs along with the artist/group themselves?
For example, pic related is the track listing for MBDTF on Wikipedia that includes the writer credits for each song. I'm sure you guys all knew that already but I wasn't aware personally (mostly because I still haven't listened through the album). Does knowing that change your perception of the music/artist at all?
People praise Kanye as one of the best -- if not THE best -- hip-hop artists of the generation. Do the writing credits discredit that opinion at all? I just looked now at TPAB and it's pretty much the same, though with noticeably fewer other people in the writing credits.
>>72737814
You mean like the small platoon that goes into any given Beyonce song?
>>72737814
>it's a globalists shill got BTFO trying to slander Lana so they switch to Kanye thread
>>72737814
In terms of Kanye West, if I remember correctly, he tends to over credit his albums. He pretty much gives credit to everybody and anybody who was there during the recording process. So I don't think massive writing credits reflect on him badly.
With Kendrick, I'm 95% positive he doesn't use ghost writers, and that all the writing credits are for the production, which is fine by me.
I guess it depends on what the writing credits are for, and even then it's hard to tell since they can be misleading. Generally speaking, I don't really care that much about writing credits, though it's a really great way to insult a shit artist you already don't like.
Why did nobody tell me video game music can be so beautiful? I'm listening to the SKYRIM OST, and it's so good I've been moved to tears and felt so much frisson.

In less than 8 hours it starts
>Rehearsals in Vancouver, 10 May 2017
It is Bono's 57th birthday today, but U2 are still rehearsing. Opening night of the Joshua Tree Tour is, after all, just two nights away. There was both an afternoon and an evening session.
In the afternoon the band rehearsed a number of songs, though not in the structure of a concert setlist. The songs they ran through were:
Pride
Streets (incomplete)
Beautiful Day (including a speech by Bono at the end, which was done multiple times)
Elevation, with the ending repeated
Ultra Violet
One
In God's Country, with some repetition of specific parts
Red Hill Mining Town
The evening session featured a lengthier setlist, essentially as a dress rehearsal for opening night. The band ran through:
Sunday Bloody Sunday
New Year's Day
A Sort of Homecoming
MLK
Pride
Where the Streets Have No Name
I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For
With or Without You
Bullet the Blue Sky
Running to Stand Still
Red Hill Mining Town
In God's Country
Trip Through Your Wires
One Tree Hill
Exit
Mothers of the Disappeared / El Pueblo Vencera (snippet)
Beautiful Day
Elevation
Ultra Violet
One
Miss Sarajevo
New song (believed to be named The Little Things That Give You Away)
U2 kept rehearsing after Miss Sarajevo but at a very low volume barely audible outside the venue. The new song was definitely played, hidden as best as possible from curious ears. There were still faint noises emanating from the stadium at 11:30pm local time (Miss Sarajevo having been played before the 11pm curfew), so it seems likely the band ran through other songs as well, but if so we have no information on what these might have been.
