When did Hip Hop become dumb?
it didnt
also tlet has weak lyrics, its appeal is its production
It started clever and dumb at the same time and its greatest practitioners have continued that for almost 40 years now

Was he the best songwriter of the 90s?
>>73100842
Nah. Will Oldham or Bill Callahan.
That's not Greg Dulli, Stephin Merritt or Biggie
He's good though

I honestly don't get how RATG is considered metal. They could easily pass as shitty grunge or rapcore crap.
Beasties. Rap-rock has always been white music and I don't care for preachy pseudo politico intellectuals horning in on the fun.
Beastie Boys by fucking miles and miles and miles
So I'm very new to /mu/. What opinions can or can't I have?
Well, +1 for the Richard D. James cover
From my short experience here, some sensible people will tell you to form your own opinions and like what you enjoy.
But a lot of people just want to tell you that your music tastes are shit anyway.
>he thinks he can have opinions
cute
Does /mu/ like Julien Baker?

the greatest album of all time
Need help.
The thing I am looking for in music is darkness and sadness. I tried black metal but it's too harsh. Bands like Joy Division and The Cure are very close to meet my expectation but they have only few songs I really like.
This is exactly what I want;

Do you guys know any bands that sound like this one? Monotonous vocals, simple and emotional music. Please help.

Sounds like 70s and 80s post punk to me. That and Gothic Rock is probably what you are looking for.

This.
>album ends with the title track pt. 2
>it's the best song and acts as a satisfying bookend, incorporating previous melodies
Where did it all go so wrong?

From the beginning desu, even if it didn't show til later
Around 1984/85 when Pepsi set his scalp on fire. He suffered 3rd degree burns, his hair never grew back so he started wearing wigs and looking into plastic surgery (see how that turned out), he also had severe pain as a result and couldn't sleep without painkillers thus building an addiction.
All downhill from there.
Name one popular Oasis song besides Wonderwall.
Pro-tip: you can't.
Paranoid Android
What is oasis anyway?

Has there ever been a more blatant attempt to remain relevant in music? I mean the change wasn't instantanious but still it's clear they just want to change with the trends...

But nu-metal/rap metal to straight up pop is a further departure than FOB ever did.
They kinda remind me of 30 seconds to mars. both started with their own variation of angry rock music for teens and slowly started transforming into something more beat oriented.
but 30 stm are pulling it off so well, they have great melodies and genuine passion in their music. they preserved their sound DNA. lp sound bored as fuck; they are relying on some pseudo controversy.
