What's your favorite Of Montreal album? Explain.

>called of montreal
>not of montreal
I've only heard Hissing Fauna
Liked it enough
Paralytic Stalks. Catchy as hell while still simultaneously being the most experimental and noisy release oM has ever put out. Those neoclassical and prog-rock influences made it something wholly unique, and it's lyrically Kevin's most honest and personal lyricism to date. It's spiteful, but not in a "fuck u ex wife" way like Aureate Gloom was. It's more nuanced and complex than that, which makes it even more wonderful.

dont mess with promoters, promote your own shit
hang up posters and shit around your town advertising your band until it become notorious and everyone knows about it. If the police start to intervene bc of all the posters good, any publicity is good publicity

I'm back guys
I see you guys resizing your images, and I appreciate it. However, I'm using 97x97, so if you're going to resize your images, I'd appreciate it if you did this instead.
Also, if you're going to request that I move somebody, please tell me where they are so I don't have to search for them myself (in addition to what spot you want me to move them to)
Thanks :)
let's get this shit done
bump?
We're in the hard parts now: the people who deserved kind of a lot to a lot of suffering and received probably slightly less suffering than they deserved.
So like, pretty big douchebags who *almost* got what they had coming.
>>73121247
how did bruno mars suffer
is there any actual reason that some people care REALLY hard about music they don't like/listen to being put on vinyl?
like i know someone who got fucking furious that this was coming out ages ago and i don't know why.
fucking whoops wrong image
Being pissed about yet another vinyl reissue of DSOTM makes more sense to me desu senpai.
The only reason to be mad about Artpop is that it probably wasn't mixed for vinyl and is just a digital transfer like OH NO I WOULD HATE IF MY RECORD SOMEHOW SOUNDED NO BETTER THAN A DIGITAL FILE lol c'mon
>>73121241
I can understand it desu. That was probably an entirely digitally created album, so pressing it on vinyl seems like a bit of a rip-off. But if people buy it...
>Movie reviews
Want to see if a film is good before buying a ticket to see it, although you can watch online
>Book reviews
Same as above, can't really download a book
>Restaurant reviews
Want to know if a restaurant is good before forking out money for a (hopefully) good meal. Cannot not try before
See a pattern here? Reviews exist so the customer knows if said thing is worth buying or not. But music is exempt from this. Everything from streaming, to easy downloads and youtube means, if we want, we can simply listen to said artist or album or single before buying it.
So why do we still take reviews seriously? They are not needed anymore, and serve no purpose other than to inflate the journalist's ego and to create a sensation of conformity i.e. listening to an album 'because it's critically acclaimed' rather than because you like it or not.
>>73121164
>Same as above, can't really download a book
you lost your argument there. the point of reviews, for me, is to know some of the talking points around an album when I'm discussing it. If I love an album most people hate, I want to know that beforehand so can phrase why I like it better. Also it's good to find music that sounds like stuff I already like. But honestly chart threads and random recs take that spot for me now
>>73121164
>can't really download a book
Nani?
I like to hear people praising things I like. That's the biggest value for me. There's also the factor of how much music actually exists. If someone brings something to your attention and describes it in a way that's appealing to you it could be a gateway to finding something you like. Writing about music rather than simply evaluating it's quality is probably the future though. Digibro and Writing On Games are already doing that for anime and video games and I think that's the most appealing way to fulfill those functions in the information age.
What's the best Blink-182 song and why is it Adam's Song?

Why does Indie Rock not seem to, you know, "rock" as much as it used to?
Indie rock was always championed by effete yuppies, upper class castrati who see masculinity as vulgar and lower class.
There is something about being rich that makes you into a faggot.
I read a study once that showed lower class people lift weights more, while upper class people do cardio more.
>>73120955
>Indie rock was always championed by effete yuppies, upper class castrati who see masculinity as vulgar and lower class.
This. Also the fact that popular music critics have been promoting effeminate music since at least the 60s. And it's just gotten more effeminate with time. Partly because of culture and partly because of the average drop in testosterone
Because the water turned them gay and they're more in touch with their soft side
Of Montreal or The Shins? I vote Of Montreal.
I vote for not being a frail little scarf wearing faggot who listens to 00s Ipod Nano-core
