I don't know, you tell us. And stop speaking in third person.
Why does this have a higher rating than California?
Because Faith No More > Mr. Bungholio
>>73164402
because California was compared to Californication (oddly enough) and most people dont understand Mr Bungle
>>73164436
>because California was compared to Californication

It's just...depressing. It's so dour. outside of Little by Little all the songs are bereft of fun or beauty.

Isn't this song supposed to be ironic though?
>It's the song I hate
>song actually sucks
What did they mean by this?
>>73163452
I once saw Sonic Youth in concert. Before playing a song (I can't remember which one), Thurston asked the audience, "What would you do if your mom was a skinhead?"
The audience starts yelling stuff like, "Rape Her!," "Kill Her!"
He finally says, "No. You write a song about her."
Needless to say, many members of the audience were disappointed are perplexed.

It's a good summer hit to get succ'd by
Earlier this year (November 1995), Radio 3 sent a package of tapes to Karlheinz Stockhausen.
The tapes contained music by Aphex Twin, Plasticman, Scanner and Daniel
Pemberton.The music which Stockhausen
was commenting on included "Ventolin" and "Alberto Balsam" by Aphex Twin,
Plasticman's Sheet One album, "Micrographia", "Dimension" and "Discreet" by
Scanner, and "Phoenix", Phosphine", Novelty Track" and "Voices" by Daniel
Pemberton.
Stockhausen thoughts Aphex's tracks
>I heard the piece Aphex Twin of Richard James carefully: I think it would be very helpful if he listens to my work Song Of The Youth,-which is electronic music, and a young boy's voice singing with himself. Because he would then immediately stop with all these post-African repetitions, and he would look
for changing tempo and changing rhythms, and he would not allow to repeat any rhythm if it were varied to some extent and if it did not have a direction in its sequence of variations.
Aphex Twin response being
>Mental! I've heard that song before; I like it. I didn't agree with him. I thought he should listen to a couple of tracks of mine: "Didgeridoo", then he'd stop making abstract, random patterns you can't dance to. Do you reckon he can dance? You could dance to Song of the Youth, but it hasn't got a groove in it, there's no bassline. I know it was probably made in the 50s, but I've got plenty of wicked percussion records made in the 50s that are awesome to dance to. And they've got basslines. I could remix it: I don't know about making it better; I wouldn't want to make it into a dance version, but I could probably make it a bit more anally technical. But I'm sure he could these days, because tape is really slow. I used to do things like that with tape, but it does take forever, and I'd never do anything like that again with tape. Once you've got your computer sorted out, it pisses all over stuff like that, you can do stuff so fast. It has a different sound, but a bit more anal.
Thoughts on this?
where's the fucking vinyl rip from the field day release
>>73162454
id love to hear an afx remix of song of the youth
Do you listen to experimental hip hop?
>>73162260
Hip hop fan here. What's this?
>>73162286
Lil Boom, one of the most intelligent rappers of this era
>>73162260
Yes, and i want to hear some more but I can't seem to find some more. Help please?
Has anyone here actually read about the production of this album and still deny it's significance or influence in pop music?
I'm genuinely curious, not just being a dick. Hard to make this not sound like a loaded question.
still haven't heard the Giles Martin version yet.
Did he do to it what Capital Record did to Pet Sounds 21 years ago? If so I'd love to hear it. (Even though I think the mono version is better)
>>73162182
The new mix is basically a mono/stereo hybrid so theoretically it might actually be the best mix but they fucked up the bass IMO
they just add reverb and delay to everything to make it sound DUDE WEED LMAO, not that impressive
literally every Burger Records -tier band does this on their albums and it always sounds like shit
Talk Talk were on to some next level shit, weren't they?
It's the best album of all time.
>>73162118
that's been sitting in my spotify for awhile, I always start it and never feel like I'm in the proper mood to vibe with it so I end up stopping it a few minutes in.
Can you sell me on that album?
>>73162118
Absolutely. A sound no other rock band ever really touched upon again. I mean I yes it's post rock, but it's unlike any other post rock band that I know of
Are these acceptable to wear in this day and age?
>>73162091
>I'm sooooo quirky!
band shirts of beat happening shirts specifically?
if you wear either one your'e a faggot. but if you wear a Beat Happening shirt you're an even bigger faggot.
>>73162124
But what if it's a Black Candy shirt?
>>73162080
vegan/ i want him to review the new big boi track already
Strong 5 to a light 6
>>73162080
I unironically find him entertaining. He's self aware, humourous, educated, clearly has a genuine passion for music, and more often than not knows what he's talking about. Regardless of my feelings on the album he's reviewing. I've been watching him for years and I plan on continuing.
