WAITING FOR THE NIGHT TO FALL
I KNOW WHAT IT TAKES TO MOVE ON
>tfw you don't risk lifelong tinnitus due to poor self-restraint over volume control

Ada Pasternak is a chameleon—both musically and stylistically. Projecting girlish innocence at times and the sexiest, most diabolical of divas at others, Ada’s authenticity and musical mastery always and invariably shine through—connecting with her audience from the core of her soul.
Ada is the eternal chrysalis—forever emerging from her cocoon to reveal new, exotically beautiful music. Graduating from prestigious Berklee College of Music on a full scholarship, Ada’s smoldering interpretations of jazz and pop belie her roots as a Russian-born child prodigy and classical violinist.
However and in addition to now being a world class violinist, Ada’s true passions are songwriting and singing. Her own, hit-bound compositions range from raw funk to poignantly eloquent soliloquies, including a signature country/ bluegrass-inspired ballad that fans would swear was born in the heart of Appalachia—had Ada not written its catchy melody and heartfelt lyrics, herself.
Throughout her journey, Ada has attracted the attention of, and performed and recorded with artists as musically diverse and enduring as Wyclef Jean, renowned French jazz painist Lulu Gainsbrough, Israel’s legendary Idan Raichel (India Arie, Alicia Keys), Gary Lucas (Captain Beefheart, Jeff Buckley) and the late Lou Soloff of the iconic Blood Sweat & Tears.
Ada disarms her audiences with her casual, ukulele-esque strumming one moment, only to amaze them with her extraordinary command of her instrument, the next—not to mention her delicate, yet powerful lyrics and vocal stylings—and the musicianship of her accompanying collaborators.
Ada’s own time has come—as her growing legions of loyal fans attest. Ada’s following of discerning listeners enthusiastically populate her performances throughout Manhattan, New York City’s surrounding boroughs, New England’s best performing venues and beyond. Hear and see Ada NOW…

I feel as though the new xx was hugely underrated.
>>73168639
Yeah I think a lot of people balk at it because they've become moody music for Tumblr teens, but it's actually their best record imo
hey /mu/, hope you dont mind if i ask two questions
1. what do you guys think of ELP
2. should i even bother with this record
>>73168389
they're pretty nice m8
>>73168389
ELP were slurred endlessly by the no-talent commies in the music criticism industry, who were scared shitless that popular music might actually get complicated enough to require people who actually knew shit about music theory to assess. Coupled with the fact that Greg Lake was a goody-two-shoes-heartthrob, which always kills a band's cool factor (see Roger Waters for the opposite effect), as well as the fact that their albums had a tendency to contain lots of filler, and you have a toxic combination. Their best songs (Tarkus, Karn Evil 9, Trilogy, Take a Pebble, Tank, Knife Edge, The Endless Enigma) are very good indeed, with a lot of thought put into their construction (by no means just "wankery"). Along with King Crimson, Yes and Genesis, ELP are absolutely essential prog.
2.) Works 1 is an acquired taste. It's the last album they made that wasn't total shit. It's a double LP, in which each band member gets a side and the final side is a group effort. The first side is Emerson writing a piano concerto that rips off every neo-classical composer of the modern period shamelessly, but it's still impressive *for a rock musician*. Greg Lake sadly just indulged himself with second-rate crooning, his side is the worst. Carl Palmer's side of the album is top tier if you are at all interested in drumming, my favourite by far. The final side is two pieces only, Fanfare and Pirates, which are about average late-ELP. They are decent, not bad, not amazing.
It's not a shit album (unlike Works 2), but you shouldn't listen to it until you are familiar with the debut, Tarkus, Pictures at an Exhibition, Trilogy and BSS.
>tfw Tim Armstrong is a fucking hipster.

What new prog albums have you listened to? What prog albums re you looking forward to?
>>73168300
Gonna give Similitude of a Dream a listen. Besides Water's album, I don't what prog is coming out this year that sounds mildly interesting. How is Oldfield's new album?
The Source is alright but its hard to take the scifi theme seriously I've always liked Ayreon stuff that is more present themed.
The Optimist is pretty good the extra electronic layer helps.
Im getting hyped for new Steven Wilson album.
Is the new Steve Hackett stuff any good?
>>73168501
Oldfield's new album is pretty good, one of his best in a long time
I've never been a big fan of Neal Morse
>>73168591
New Steve Hackett is nice but not amazing
Despite how you personally may feel about this album, objectively it's actually pretty good.

It used to be only cool people knew about some really good music; now only the least cool people know about the same bands.
Take Unwound for example. It used to be, in the 90s and 2000s, if you knew about Unwound you were a certified underground kid and really knew about music and the scene. Know only internet dipshits know about Unwound. My record store got Fake Train back in February, I went in today and they still had it. Probably if I hadn't bought it it would still be up on the shelf in another 4 months. Why? Because it's a basement punk record store, and real people go there. I'm the retard who drives in from the country and buys reissues of stuff he found on the computer.
The underground no longer exists since internet made everything accessible to everyone, and this extremely easily.
