It's the use of repetition that makes him interesting. Usually repetition is a negative aspect of music where as with Reich, he (and the majority of minimalist composers) embrace it to a great end
Also to add more creativity, his use of phase difference in music is extremely creative

Okay /mu/ I need some help. I need to write a paper on rock and roll music history, one specific aspect about it. It can be pretty much anything, from a person, to technology, I just need to have tracks to show the influence. I just don't know jack about what to write about. Have any of you ever approached your musical inspirations IRL?
In a few weeks my favourite band will be coming to my city. Usually I'm pretty good at talking myself into places, backstage etc. I really want to give them a letter in person and have said I would do it for years if they ever come here. Have any of you done this? Successfully?
