I'm hella late to this album. I remember really loving Dream House when the album dropped but never got past the track Sunbather. Recently revisited it and do people really like the first portion of Please Remember with the droning noise and Windows? I feel like both those parts are kind of meandering. The second part of Please Remember is nice but it's a bummer it's stapled onto that first part of the track. Windows felt like fucking filler.
I listened to the album without those tracks and while not perfect it felt a lot more enjoyable.

It's a real bummer because when they are doing their actual black metal stuff I find the band to be really enjoyable, I even find the post rock transitions enjoyable but the ambient shit is just a turn off.

One thing that New Bermuda did much better than Sunbather were the interludes. They weren't too long and weren't separate tracks. But Deafheaven really doesn't even need an interlude between every song.

Honestly just mess around, play a note, then go oh that'd sound good if i did this after and then this. Just do whatever sounds good
Also keep the idea of tension and release in mind, play things that dont quite fit or feel awkward and transition back into a normal melody
But thats just what i do
