I had the misfortune of coming in contact with Win Butler at the Cal Berkeley gym this past Saturday (June 2).
I play pickup basketball at the RSF (Recreational Sports Facility) and on this particular evening there was a girl's basketball tournament going on so only two of the seven courts were available.
This made for a congested couple courts for the evening run.
Win Butler was shooting around on one of the courts. I asked Mr. Butler if he wanted to play. He declined so I asked him if he could move off the court because we were starting a full court game. He angrily refused. He told me, and this a quote:
"I paid too much damn money to get in here and I'm playing on this court."
Apparently his friends were showing up later and he wanted to reserve the half court for himself and his friends. It costs $10 to get into the RSF. That is the amount that I paid to enter the gym and the amount that everyone pays who is not student, staff or faculty at Cal.
There were probably 30 people in the gym at the time wanting to play full court basketball.
I couldn't reason with Mr. Butler so I gave up. Two RSF supervisors tried to explain to Mr. Butler the court rules. Finally, a security guard arrived to talk him down. Mr. Butler was extremely agitated and animated during this entire episode. One of the other players claims Mr. Butler pushed him but I did not witness this. The security guard was so fed up with him she told us to just run him over.
The standoff lasted about 45 minutes before Mr. Butler finally left.
After I finished playing I realized my basketball was missing. I remembered last seeing it on the court where Mr. Butler was shooting around with a few other guys.
I went downstairs to the front desk to ask if anyone had turned in a ball. I described my ball to the young woman working the desk. I told her that I had drawn stars on the ball so nobody would take it by mistake.
She said: "The lead singer of Arcade Fire took your basketball."

She recognized my ball because he was holding it as he was yelling at her. Mr. Butler dressed down the RSF desk staff on his way out of the building.

Even though this never happened, I would've been honored if that happened to me. I never go to the RSF though. ;_;

>I like The Kinks because I can't think!
What the fuck was his problem?
Is it just me or is this really fucking good? It should be mentioned alongside the usually group of great Beatle albums more often.

This and A Hard Day's Night are the best pre-Rubber Soul Beatles albums. Great straight-forward Pop Rock, some of the best of the pre-Psych era.
>>73327164
I agree. imo top 5 Beatles albums. Side A is flawless, and side B has I've Just Seen a Face/Yesterday which are the two best songs on the album.
I've Just Seen a Face has always been a favorite of mine. The whole folk vibe throughout is great. Not far from Rubber Soul for me.
Anything else like this?

Hey folks, I ordered the vinyl for this album from Amazon recently and it came with two copies of the C/D record, and no A/B. I already emailed them about it and they're mailing me a replacement for it, but is this kind of misprint or manufacturing error common among twin-LP releases? Should I have contacted the manufacturer first?
Nah, I'd say it's pretty rare for something like that to happen.
I got Innerspeaker on vinyl and mine's just fine too

"Music" is the dumbest idea ever. Who is to say that any given sound is or isn't "musical". You have all bought into one of the biggest jokes on the planet without ever once questioning it.
If there's a loud annoying noise nearby, people will say "wow that's a loud annoying noise, I don't like that at all, please take me somewhere that a loud annoying noise isn't happening or stop this noise at the source so that I can remain comfortable", but if Billy and the Fucking Idiots all make make a loud annoying noise together in a garage with their pieces of wood with stringy metal on them and banging objects purposely created for making a really loud annoying noise, everyone says "wow that's so cool you guys are so musical and talented good job" when all they are doing is making an equally loud annoying noise.
I guarantee that in a few hundred years people will look back on music and think that it was the dumbest idea ever. We are already at the tipping point. Music used to be exclusive because it was harder to produce and limited people could gain fame doing it. Now any dumbass band like Billy and Freaking Fuckwads can post their music on line, well it's basic economics - supply and demand. There's too much music now and it will soon decrease in value to the point of dying out as a mainstream artform. The only idiots left will be fringe dickheads like the people on this board insisting that they still like it to appear "alternative" and "cool" while everyone else is off in virtual reality getting their dicks sucked. What a joke.
TLDR: Music is for fucking pussies, no one actually likes this shit and certainly not half the alternative garbage the pretentious wankers on this board like. No one believes you like it and the reason you are almost all social outcasts is because people immediately see through your pretentious facade. KIll yourselves.
that is kinda the point of ambient.
Weak bait from a neckbeard. Move along.
No no, at the end you're supposed to call music fans beta males who use it to compensate and then tell them to start lifting and mewing so they can make more white babies.

Question to people on this board that make music. I'm having a hard time constructing a good melody to lyrics I'm writing. I like what I'm writing a lot but I just can't fit it with melody that sounds nice. Anyone have any suggestions or artists that could help me?
>>73326722
Play to your strengths. Maybe do primarily spoken word over instrumental backing, or something of that nature, like the new Sun Kil Moon album. Idk dude writing melodies isn't hard if you know how to put chords together
