Hi /mu/ got a vocal question here. I used to be able to sing with great vocal range and clarity. For reference i was able to sing under pressure including freddie mercury's high notes. Wether thats good great or ordinary I was happy with it. Ive never had singing lessons by the way
Now though im finding it difficult to reach them notes (some i just cant) and im finding it immpossible to get that clarity, my voice just goes whiny and rather sqeaky. I would love to be able to be happy with my singing again. What would be the best course of action. Should i go to singing classes. Could i have damaged my voice by singing with bad technique? Help is appreciated

Try drinking water before you sing
(Mountain dew helps for some reason. Idk why)
But yeah drink something
And remember to use your diaphram for breathing and taking in breaths
And give yourself a break for a couple days you could be putting too much strain on your voice

I'm 24 and still listen to music aimed at teenagers (metalcore, pop punk etc.)

What the fuck happened to Mastodon between Crack the Skye and The Hunter, those first 4 albums are some of the most god tier music ever written, and sure their new stuff is good, but like, not even close to as good as Capilarian Crest, Iron Tusk, The Czar, or March of the Fire Ants, I will say though, saw them on the tour for their new album, they were fucking great

their new stuff is good no doubt about it, but they lost all the aggression somewhere between Blood Mountain and Crack the Skye and they just went kinda generic prog metal from The Hunter onward, I guess it would be hard to top Blood Mountain though so I can see why they switched their sound up

Yea I do agree on that. I think they actually tried to go back to having more aggression on OMRTS but since I don't think that album did very well compared to the hunter or cts, they scrapped the idea of trying that again
