Can we have a summer recs thread? What have you guys been listening to this summer guys? I have a summer album every year, just one record in particular that I spend so many hours listening to just lying on my bed doing nothing to..
Haven't found that album for this year yet, last year it was "Oh You're So Silent Jens"
I'll start off the reccs with a couple tracks

>You will never relive that part of your life where you were finally leaving reddit tier music of the gorillaz, black eyed peas, eminem, green day, etc., and entering into /mu/core.
Tell me your first /mu/core album listening experiences.
>>73469571
My patrician dad liked listening to Kraftwerk, Talking Heads, and the Beach Boys, so I guess I got a head start.
I've never seen the Black Eyed Peas praised on Reddit.
>>73469571
i liked QOTSA, Radiohead and The Smiths when i was not visiting /mu/.
First /mu/ experience was Spiderland
This is my favorite album.
I was told if you post your favorite album on /mu/ they tell you it's bad so why is my favorite album bad?
Lurk before posting, people love Talking Heads around here. Especially Remain in Light.

These are the only redeeming members of OF and only one of them has a great album
>>73469217
irrelevant since like 2012
An interesting phenomena. The group's success was entirely built on hype and acting like clowns.
As with all things based on hype, it had no staying power. Maybe one or two members of the group actually had any musical ability, so they werent really known as a music collective, more of a group of young hype machines and they were treated as such.
I think Vince, Syd, and Frank realized this early on and kept their distance for this very reason. They were the real musicians (along with Tyler, but he's more of a creative than a musician), and they decided to branch off and do their own thing because they wanted to have a lasting legacy outside of rapping about rape and drugs and stupid shit that only would appeal to white high school kids.
Earl was just smart. He channeled his intelligence into making good rhymes, but his intelligence would probably have been better spent on something else. Tyler probably detests OF from what I can gather. I think he wants more than anything to be taken seriously as an artist and musician, but he will forever go down in history as the leader of ICP for white high school stoners with daddy issues.
What're your thoughts so far and what do you hope the album will be?
>>73469117
it'll be meh if the album is more of the singles
>>73469135
the singles for Summertime 06' weren't strong either but it turned out to be one of my favorite albums of all time.
vince staples reminds me a lot of j. cole in that I know that he's a good rapper that can make good albums but I have almost no interest at all in listening to his music
I didn't find his last album to be anything that special either
Damn, Melon won't stop trashing King of Limbs.

Hmmm
What the fuck is his problem.?
>>73469166
King of Limbs, apparently.
Am i becoming a meme after unironically liking this the first listen?
>>73469086
yeah you've done like many before you and conditioned your ears to be comfortable with listening to shit
>>73469086
>falling for the all arranged sound is music meme
>falling for the "harsh noise" meme in general
another one falls
no
it's just music dude
you're not a meme for liking music
yes it's seen as inaccessible but put into perspective a lot of people like noise music and this album is generally accepted as one of the most accessible noise albums
the only reason people would perceive you as a "meme" for liking this album is because of, well, people like you that perpetuate that to like a ~weird~ album, one must be a "meme"
dude come on lol
just like what you like instead of coming to /mu/ to ask if you're weird or patrician etc.
teach me about coil /mu/
>jhonn is sent to some fuckin school
>writes letters to Throbbing Gristle because he loves them a little too much
>he sits in the studio while they record an album
>jhonn and peter get together and make gay, mud covered love with equally gay, mud covered albums
>jhonn falls off a balcony and dies despite his last name being balance
