What does /mu/ think of Dong Lover?
>>73689893
BTI and awaken my love are real good also kauai. Rest of his stuff is shit
GIRL SAY SAAAUUUHM

He's gotten better with every release. His latest was straightup good if not great. His first album was aight, second was better. Some people will remember him fondly. I don't think he's done anything to justify being remembered by music historians, but he can be enjoyable to listen to. His singles are usually straight fire, and his bars are often humorous and quick. He has a basic flow but the punch-lines are what you stay for. It's interesting that his music was basically just full of jokes and pop-culture references, considering he was a writer for 30 Rock, and an actor on Community. It took him a while to take himself seriously. Like, it wasn't until the second album that he started NOT treating it like it was a joke. Not saying that there isn't some good stuff on his first album (there is), but the bangers are mostly just on long comedy routine set to fairly dope beats.
I didn't know reggae could be so... beautiful

http://pitchfork.com/reviews/tracks/tyler-the-creator-911-mr-lonely/
911 is great, but Mr. Lonely would be way better without Tyler's raps on it.
kinda funny how dominated by narrative modern music is
it's literally the same shit as cherry bomb but I guarantee reviews will talk about how much he's matured now that frank ocean made a song with him again
>>73689894
What? His rap was great because he got real, admitted he's actually lonely despite being loud and raps about cars cause that's all he has. It was pretty real shit, like it brought me back to Wolf times. It was somber, unlike Cherry Bomb. Also Earl said Tyler's new album is fire
Will there ever be a band more punk?
>implying they weren't phony industry plants designed to sell punk fashion
Yeah, literally every other punk band.

Don't know, I'm not big on it either

The k-pop threads aren't even for the music, they're only purpose is to gossip about whatever the fuck it is they gossip about (every time I go into one it's basically incomprehensible nonsense) and to post and look at pictures of asian girls. I have no idea why they're still allowed.
Hey guys, I was approached by a Warner a&r guy the other day after he heard one of my tracks, with talk of a possible 5 year multi-million dollar contract. Should I sell my soul and accept the offer or retain my artistic integrity and stay poor forever?
Ask a possible rich and famous musician anything.
Get rich boi, make weird projects on the side
This is the track in question that brought about the whole deal in the first place.

Holy shit anon, I think you might have written the greatest and best song in the world. I'm not surprised you're getting record deals thrown at you. What's your secret?
This is ear torture
>>73689397
Listen to it twice and you'll change your mind about her voice. And after a few more listens you'll realize it's actually the greatest album of all time.

>"eeeeeEEEEOOOOOHHWWOOOOOROOOWWWW"
what a fucking shit voice. Attempt at being 'arty' just makes her sound like some homeless woman addicted to crack, with a very heavy Philadelphian accent.
Does anyone else struggle with just listening to an album by itself and doing nothing else? What do you guys do while listening to new music?
>>73689384
i just stare at a wall or something
>>73689384
browse the internet or whatever, as long as you're still paying attention
It's funny actually, one of the most relaxing things I used to do was to put some music on, lie on my bed and daydream. It's not been something I've had the attention span to do for a good few years, I've always had to be doing *something*.
That said, over the past couple weeks, I've gotten back into it and I gotta tell ya, it's bliss.

Sorry guys but I'm just saying what every lady is thinking when you reveal your passion for playing the tuba or something like that

tbf the saxophone is a pretty sexy instrument
Saxophones are fit as hell though, from a guy who doesn't even play sax

Post about your favorite Japanese music and unknown gems!
Half the reason I made this thread is to ask a question: I just listened to pic related and loved it, and I'm curious if anything else by Sheena Ringo (Or Ringo Sheena -- I always forget which way to put it) is even close to as good as this. I've heard her most recent release or two have been kind of bad. Are her previous LPs worth listening to?
>making a general for one band

Recs like this?
That's one of my favorite albums, OP. Japan is also one of my favorite bands. Here's a brand new Japanese album that has instantly become one of my favorites.
I want to know /mu/'s real and honest opinion of Slipknot.
>inb4 "cancer"
I love them. Their namesake album is one of my favorite of all time. The percussion is incredible and thunderous, the vocals are stunning, and I wish I could scream like Corey Taylor. I do believe that after All Hope is Gone, and they got rid of Joey and Paul died, their new album is weaker than those in the past.

Anyone else think XXX is his best release?
XXX was one of my favorite hip hop albums for a little while, and its still great, but Atrocity Exhibition is one of my favorite albums ever.
It's good and the last track is amazing but the beats are really boring to me.
>>73688979
me.
AE wasn't as good, but the sampling was really well done.
What are the best female pop albums ever? I need some essentials, I know only j-pop and would like some Western stuff.
Doesn't matter whether older or newer 'classics'.
