My laptop is about to die and I need something ASAP that I can transfer my files too. I've been using Audacity to record for years, just recording vocals and DI guitar and keyboards but I'm getting to the point where I'll need a better DAW and in general get more complicated with it.
I was wondering what computer recommendations (laptop or desktop) you all had for someone who only uses their computer for internet, music, and music recording. Maybe basic video editing and GIMP.

Why is hardcore punk so popular nowadays with the cool kids?
I noticed the transition like 4-5 years ago, with Iceage (which came out of the danish hardcore scene) getting big being a factor somewhere along the way,and the kids tracked backwards and got into old hardcore.
Now people just go on and on about black flag and minor threat and it wasn't happening before.
Don't get me wrong, I like hardcore, I just can't tell when it started getting popular amongst the coolest kids in the brooklyn terrace.
