“Reggae” comes from the term “rege-rege” which means “rags” or “ragged clothes”, and this gives you your first clue into the story behind reggae music. When it started out in Jamaica around the late 1960s, reggae music was considered a rag-tag, hodge-podge of other musical styles, namely Jamaican Mento and contemporary Jamaican Ska music, along with American jazz and rhythm & blues, something like what was coming out of New Orleans at the time. Most listeners didn’t even distinguish reggae from Jamaican dancehall music or the slowed down version of ska music known as Rocksteady, until possibly when the band Toots and the Maytals came along. There songs served as a sort of public notice that a new style of music had been born and was staking its claim on the musical frontier.

> im standing
> Girl 2 seats away is also standing and jamming

Life's not fair brehs
Like, objectively, fat people get in other people's way more often. It directly correlates.

Yeah, makes me appreciate his music less
He was great in I Am Legend, though
Any one-man bands in this board? Preferably black metal, but anything is welcomed.

Why do rappers never say good things about Compton?
They mention the bad side but they don't mention that it's only a 30 minute drive from the beach and 38 minute drive from beverly hills.
They never say hey at least it wasn't a 3rd world country.

nobody would listen to hip hop if they talked about the good things

Reunion albums that you hope will never happen for the sake of the band's impeccable legacy.
I won't be able to cope with a new SOAD album, their five studio albums are the monolith of modern metal.
Anything further than that with tarnish their name.
This music is fucking great (but a little repetitive)

I'm starting a sort of alt-dance band. 3 people - a prog-house DJ for electronic percussion (influences: Underworld, The Prodigy, Pet Shop Boys), a bebop-style trumpet on lead (influences: Lee Morgan, Art Blakey), a crusty, distorted rhythm guitar with shouted vocals (influences: Oathbreaker, Martyrdöd, Ulver). Group influences: The Wedding Present, Carter USM.
Thoughts? What do you think of fusion projects? What would you like to put together?

This could be really cool if done well!
I'm working on an album that has aspects of indie folk, noise rock, IDM, neofolk, black metal (influenced by a wide variety of black metal, but mostly the trve kind so no one can shoot me), progressive rock, and new romantic. The difficult part is finding a balance with all of the genres that doesn't make them too distracting a change of pace, as it all needs to flow together. I'm mainly just focusing on indie folk and neofolk for the general sound, tossing between the two on nearly every song, but the other genres do have prominence if that counts.
Pic related has been very influential on my style of guitar playing, though the style of music on this album isn't very prominent.
Where can I find the music you make?
>>74068538
Thanks! Your project sounds cool - I'd recommend Gowns, if you haven't checked them out already. They were the noise-folk project EMA started out in.
I don't have anything up yet, but I'll start a Bandcamp if things go well
>>74068618
I'll certainly check them out!
And hey, I'm glad to hear! Make a thread when you get some material together.
Documentaries that completely changed the way you felt about something?
Would help if you explained how this changed the way you feel about them.
