Why isn't this considered his best album?
It's a fucking masterpiece
Too long, a lot of filler
idk, it's my favorite of his
Lots of filler and inconsistent in pace possibly as a result of it. I personally also think that RDJ did the whole erratic drums thing better because it worked with a far larger variety of timbres/rhythm styles than just the acidic approach taken on all those kind of tracks on this record.
It works much better imo in the way Richard intended. He purposefully just made a really long album where the pieces don't fit because he expected the listener to go through it all once then make a playlist of the stuff the listener enjoyed and then just listen to those tracks. It was when the whole idea of individual digital files on the computer was first becoming big for music, and Richard wanted to play with that idea.

Agree, shame no one here listens to Prince other then Purple Rain.
does anyone care about this besides me
Grabbed it a few days ago. Haven't listened to it, yet. I'll get on that, and I'll post my thoughts if this thread hasn't died.

neat
I only just finished first listen, was good but no clear standout so far, sounds more like Neptune City than her last two.

Let's see those marvelous masticators, Nicole!
How do you guys feel about the majority of electronic, rap, and pop music now (at least instrumentals) today being made 100% on computers? Even if something is recorded live with "real" instruments it's probably gonna end up being mixed/mastered on computers anyway, if not, at least recorded into the computer in 24/96 or whatever.
why the fuck does it matter how something is made

t. someone who isn't a musician

professional musician with a degree
it doesn't matter which instrument is used, process only matters if it's novel and artistic a la Cage/Browne etc.

Pic related: I don't understand anything that they're saying, but for some reason, COTD always gets me so depressed. I think it's Narasaki's vocals.
Well this is obviously the best album ever created.
It's the best reggae album, mon
Why is this album so great? There isn't anything thematically or lyrically that allows it to be special or unique, especially in relation to the rest of Kanye's discography, but the whole hour of music is sonic pleasure to my ears.

thats because he sampled all kinds of great music to create this thing that is less than the sum of its parts.

I used to love this album when I was like 14/16.
Now I dislike almost the whole album.
now that the dust has truly settled, we can agree that this was/is seriously underrated, y?
I believe it's justly lauded by fans and critics alike. It's a good album.
Not sure what you're talking about.
