Why do people think prod is dying? It's been full of discussion and lot's of feedback with some genuinely good music being posted.
Can I have some lead VST recommendations? I'm trying to make a little dream pop.
Let's say I'm a producer that does everything "in the box" with digital software and wanted to start considering some outboard gear (but not modular synth modules).
What's some essential rack-mounted gear that doesn't have a comparable digital equivalent?
Like something that's of such a good quality that no digital plugin will ever get close, or something that does something that can't be emulated digitally, etc.
How could other female artists even compare to Grimes? I'm sure that her next album will prove once and for all who's the new boss.
Anyone here?

Post and share ideas that could be used as fuel for great songs, right now I'm working on one where it uses a drug metaphor to describe a girl, as in I'm calling her my addiction and because she's my drug of choice, what do you think?

Too on the nose, it could be good depending on how it's presented.

Blacks , not enough high frequencies in noise to register a color. Although I haven't really listened to much so I might be wrong

It's not really this bad, is it?
I've not heard it yet
Reflektor was an early warning for this shitstorm of an album
>>74249697
Its certainly not as bad as 4chan and the music press is stating though with that being said it is a considerable drop in quality from Reflektor and easily their weakest release so far. Arcade Fire are an unfortunate case of a band that is ostracized from the mainstream due to its "hipster" motif and pretentiousness whilst also being shunned by contrarians and numerous /mu/tants for being a major indie rock band regardless of the quality of their albums. That's not to say that they are incapable of making a poor release or are exempt from criticism though it seems more or less impossible for anyone to go into this album with a level head unless they simply haven't heard of the band - as those who are long-time fans will have absurdly high expectations from the previous albums whilst those who dislike it will latch onto any of the albums flaws and exaggerate them to a ridiculous extent, its only natural though given that the teaser tracks were nothing in particular I don't believe that anyone was particularly disappointed, even the fans.
As for the album itself. I quite enjoyed the title track which I initially did not like at all, Peter Pan contrary to what many have said I found quite enjoyable and dream-like if somewhat corny. Personally I'd say the album suffers from sounding too much like a self-parody, as if they've ridden this ironic marketing campaign so hard that its affected their musical output, resulting in an album that sounds more satirical than substantial and thus impossible to take seriously, which for an Arcade Fire album is certainly not a good thing. And Chemistry plus the two Infinite Contents are especially mundane and feel almost as if the band is making fun of themselves given how forced and superficial the tracks sound. Another major flaw is the writer's block that Win seems to succumb to, seems he's said everything on the previous albums and is now repeating the themes of the Suburbs (specifically Deep Blue & We Used To Wait).

>Deep Blue
>Arcade Fire now have a song called Deep Blue and another song called Electric Blue

i'm really loving this
Alright starting up a jazz thread cuz I don't see one here. There's two types of jazz that I'm really in the mood for right now that I don't know much about.
Some hard bop type stuff like this
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M4aP7Fk3bbM
And some brassy stuff like this
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nH5ukHM4h-c
Can anyone give me some essential albums in the same vein as those songs? Not necessarily both at once
What a fantastic idea, complimenting Bill's signature sappy sentimental style of jazz with a flute. I'm in love.
>>74246896
can someone please articulate the differences between bebop, hard bop, and post-bop? i've heard plenty from each genre, but i still don't totally get the difference.
>>74247115
bebop is fast, technical and not very danceable
hard bop is rhythmic and pretty danceable
post-bop is (basically) 60s contemporary jazz that doesn't fit into a preexisting category
>it's a numale musicians and a female singer/figurehead band episode
