I'm trying to put together a remix 12 for my little label for an artist that does experimental RnB (like a cross between James Blake or Nicolas Jaar).
Are there any really solid underground artists/producers that aren't too successful to be unapproachable about this kind of thing (it's basically just a promotional compilation of remixes of songs from the album i'm putting out)?
I have my own list, but it's painfully short so any advice is welcome.

so I've been trying to come up with some drum patterns on my new mpc but I've never played the drums
this drummer I know told me a good rule of thumb is to use a single drum sound per beat/half-beat, hats not included. is this solid advice?
