tfw prog-hop already happened and no one cared
the punk phase is happening right now
>>74593080
>mbdtf
>prog
it's radio rap
just because he sampled king crimson doesn't make it 'progressive'
>>74593309
King Crimson got to #28 on billboard 200, and sgt peppers/pet sounds are considered proto-prog.
prog is generally defined as:
>an attempt to bring music closer to 'art'
>more poetic lyrics
>merging high and low culture
I fail to see how MBDTF isn't at least prog-like. Even Days of Future Passed is considered prog.
bamp
Muse. How can one band be so interesting and so boring at the same time?
>>74593020
Alcoholism and Drugs.
Same thing happened to Metallica. They stopped doing drugs and drinking and they went to shit.
>>74593020
origin of symmetry was fueled by shrooms
the 2nd law couldve been their best album had it also been
>>74593020
Because they were great for a while and then turned to shit. They'll never come back sadly. Resistance and 2nd Law had their moments but Drones is just embarrassing.
ITT: Name the last two artists you listened to, others tell you bands that sound like a combination of both
>The Stooges

Cheap Trick's first album.

>>74593197

*an album
Are you ready for LP5?
>>74592778
Yes, we've waited 8 years and I actually particularly enjoyed Daisy no matter what anyone else says.
already on her fifth album and hasn't made a single piece of music worth listening to
>>74592792
Geidi Primes is good
I'm going to buy this synth, the Korg MS20 mini. It's 500 usd but I wanted to ask /mu/ first if is it worth it or if anyone knows any other synth around that price. Im mostly interested on this one because it's semi modular and it looks fucking cool
>Korg
it's cool as shit and super fun to play around with, but if you're hoping to play live with it I'd recommend something else that actually lets you save the sounds and get back to them quickly without fucking around with knobs for 20 minutes. Also it's sort of annoying that the only audio jacks are 1/8 inch, so if you're wanting to plug into an amp you're gonna need an adapter.
I love mine and it works great for what I use it for (home recording exclusively)
you can get it used for like $300
i would also look into the microbrute and monologue. ms20 has an amazing sound though. i think the monologue is the only one that has presets, if you need that for live stuff as the above poster indicated.
He had so much potential
But now he's just somebody you used to know

the pinnacle of electronic musical instrument progress
>when your company's failed experiment accidentally creates 4+ new subgenres of electronic music
How big is your backlog /mu/?
5-8 albums at most at any given time, anything more and it just gets so daunting that I'll never get around to listening to it
>>74592440
Yeah, I'll never get round to listening to all that.
>>74592392
I don't have a backlog I keep my artist/plays ratio PRISTINE
You can do it subtractively or additively, so ling as you explain why you did what you did to some capacity.
I'd shorten Black Celebration into a badass EP instead of leaving it as a half good half mediocre LP.
1.Black Celebration
2.Fly On The Windscreen
3.A Question of Time
4.New Dress
5.Stripped
Depeche Mode are fascist
>>74592242
I bet your fun at parties
>>74592218
I like the entire album, it's my favorite of theirs that I've listened to actually. Definitely nailed the highlights, though.
Which Madchester classic is better, The Stone Roses or Pills 'n' Thrills And Bellyaches and why?
The Stone Roses were better musicians, songwriters and live performers(which isn't that surprising considering that, by most accounts, the Mondays were constantly obliterating themselves with drugs and didn't take touring particularly seriously) but the Mondays were genuinely a more forward-thinking idiosyncratic band, which gives them the advantage in my books.
The Stone Roses mixed The Smiths with The Beatles which is fine, but is also a fairly conservative and unremarkable bland of influences.
The Mondays were all over the place in terms of influences, which made them a lot more interesting. The Fall, Funkadelic, acid house, Gang Of Four, you could hear all these disparate sounds in what the Mondays were doing, and somehow they managed to make it all sound coherent and organic.
The Stone Roses had a better guitarist, bassist, drummer, songwriting abilities, equipment, production and style
The Mondays had Bez
The Mondays therefore win
Of course pic related is the real GOAT
