Were do I start with cabaret voltaire? they have a lot of albums. i have been listening to way to much industrial lately and I want to keep the ball rolling.

Start with 2x45 and work backwards in their discography for more post-punk and industrial and forwards for more ebm and dance music.

...is ugly!
Hey /mu/, I've never really been part of the local music scene in my city but last night I went to a show that was actually really fucking great with a few local acts, but there was something shady that was also happening.
See, the venue was being hosted by a magazine centered around the local scene, and I have a friend who's in one of the bands that performed and she told me that the magazine "books shows for everyone". That got me a bit worried and after I did my research I realized she wasn't kidding. These guys have a near monopoly on bookings in my city, and if you want to be part of the scene you need to go through them.
Does every major city have this? What are some shady things that happen in your local scene?
>>74514237
>Does every major city have this?
yeah. get used to it
every band you hear about that somehow gets reviewed by p4k and the rest. sucked some zine or publishers dick to get noticed. its how the world works
underground/indie doesn't exist
>>74514237
>monopoly on bookings
I've never heard of that, clubs have their own bookers. Sometimes they'll move to a different club but I don't know about any monopolies.
>>74514265
Holy hell, that's depressing.
>>74514305
I don't know how it works. Obviously not every venue gets booked through these guys, but all the ones that are considered important, and even just random medium to small ones here and there? Yeah, you can bet these guys say who gets to perform there.
more fun albums like this?
why he jerk off outside?
>>74514186
where else can you perv on qt geishas through paper walls?
We dont give him enough credit
> did 5 songs on Nevermind
> 4 of them aren't filler
> the filler that he did is better than the other fillers
>We dont give him enough credit
You can thank Dave Grohl's relentless attempts at inserting himself into Nirvana's garage days for that.
>>74514175
IIRC Nirvana already demoed Nevermind and signed with DGC by the time Grohl joined.
>>74514054
I'm pretty sure he only played on Polly on the finalised version of Nevermind, though he did play on the pre-album demos
Went to my first music festival, standing for 12 hours fucked up my body, specifically my shoulders, neck, legs and back. I also felt lik a social outcast because no one was there with me. But it was all worth it in the end, for I got to see some artists that I really like.
>>74514030
What artists did you see anon? Who was the best?
>>74514030
going to festivals with anyone other than yourself is a meme. you did good.
>>74514030
What festival? WOW?
"Most people probably don't listen to the lyrics. But they should, because it's not just about the pleasures of conformity and the importance of trends. It's also a personal statement about the band itself"
>>74513874
bad post, didn't receive the digits of repeating nature
now look at this
>tfw the band can't be taken seriously on here because of this meme
Saw them perform last night and it's ridiculous how tight-knit they still are as a band
Picture discs
worth playing or only good for hanging on the wall?
Yeah, they're pretty shit most of the time. Can't believe they're still releasing this kind of shit and slapping premium prices on it, just saw announcements of ELO and Flaming Lips reissues in picture discs, made me vomit
My copy of the thriller picture disc (it was a gift) actually sounds pretty decent, but I'm sure an original pressing would sound better
ITT: musicians who probably have sub-100 IQ

Which Japan album is better: Gentlemen Take Polaroids or Tin Drum?
I think Tin Drum is but saying GTP is better is a perfectly reasonable opinion
Japan is my favorite band. They're so moshi moshi. They're so shabu shabu.
CANTONESE BOY
Moving out pretty soon so I can no longer leech of my parents vinyl player and speakers so what would be some good speakers between around 300 bucks?
Could probably go a bit over but would rather not
Most likely paired with pic related

Now that the dust has settled, how do you rank the AnCo solo releases?
I'd probably go something like
Person Pitch>Down There>Eucalyptus>Sleep Cycle>Tomboy>PBMTGR>Young Prayer>Slasher Flicks
too high
>grim reaper above young prayer
