Does your band play covers? How can I convince mine that playing covers is trashtier and means you have literally zero confidence in your original music

Write good songs?
>>74535335
I strife for that but their argument is that "oh we should play songs the audience will know and like". It's too fuckin safe and does nothing to set you apart from the copious amounts of other bands

How is this heavy? Fucking meshuggah is heavier than this.
It's just the heaviest Swans album.
Anybody that I've asked has a different definition for "heavy".
>>74534814
This is way too spacey and atmospheric to be heavy.
What are some pieces of music that are sentimental to you? On the thirteenth of August for four years now I've spent all evening listening to this. It's the anniversary of my dad's death and he always used to put this song on whenever he was picking me up or taking me somewhere. I remember thinking it was really dumb when I was a child, but over the years it really grew on me and got me into 80's music. Nowadays I can't hear it without being filled with memories of him.

What do you think of Cult of Youth? I don't see them mentioned around here often.
>>74534161
They're pretty good but they lean a bit too much on the their neofolk influences.
>>74534245
I like the idea of reassembling neofolk back into postpunk. I do want to hear industrial though.
