When exploring an artist for the first time who has a lot of albums what's your process? Do you go right to the big albums or go Chronologically?
Also, how many times do you listen to an album before moving onto the next album in their discography.
>>74665464
I listen to their most critically acclaimed or if not popular, I use overall rym ratings. If I like that album I go chronologically through their discography, moving on to the next album when I feel like it
I don't get why people feel the need to know how they should listen to music. What are you afraid of? There is no right way to enjoy art
>>74665464
I used to think a lot about this kind of stuff too but then I realized it really doesn't matter. Try to just enjoy the actual music, it's not an RPG where you need to complete everything.
>>74665464
>Do you go right to the big albums or go Chronologically?
I start with their most critically aclaimed album and then I go chronologically.
I don't care if I liked or not the "best album" I listened first, I do it the same.
That's a fucking huge rating, how is Kendrick ever going to recover after this?
New AOTD contender
>>74665447
KENDRICK IS FINISHED
BRAND NEW FUCKED THE RAP GAME UP
I know this is bait but
When a new album comes out by an artist, the first people to listen to it are their fanbase. Once it reaches the general public, the ratings will go down. This happens with every artist. I don't know if you were on /mu/ before or after DAMN, but even kenny's ratings slipped. Same concept is why people like you post bad threads on /mu/.
>>74665558
Yeah, it's at 3.97 now. You should expect it to drop even more unless something magical happens (like a 10 by Fantano for instance)
Why the fuck hadn't anyone told me about this album before!?
>prog

I found a good band called Josephine Collective that made basically 1 album back in 2007. Goodest songs are "Crack the Sky" & "Pray for Rain" "Scarlet"
sounds like the band Mest

why did you save that picture? why did you post that picture? make sure you sage when you reply
Can you spot the difference between the two rappers in this image?
One is a talented, authentic, and unaffected artist who puts his very soul into the music he creates while at the same time self-innovating and generating soundscapes which evoke the very spirit of a generation.
The other is Kendrick Lamar.
Kendrick is literally retarded.
TIME TO DELIVER A PIZZA BALL

The MBDTF of late 2010's
>>74665311
MBDTF was good tho
For real senpai, I'm loving pretty much every second of this, aside from 'Can't do it' (although I get why it's there, I guess) and the first half of 'Ivory Tower'.
It's much more consistent than 'Get to Heaven', while still being a really fun listen. Not saying it's some kind of eye opening/mindblowing experience, but it's an interesting take on pop music that has some consciousness to it (while not being pretentious in my opinion), that also happens to sound fun (and comfy for me).
PS: Since when are we having this dumb ass 'bridges' captcha? Traffic signs and roads were already giving me headaches.
There isn't a single bad track on A Fever Dream but it's not as good as Get To Heaven was. I fucking loved Get To Heaven.
Still a solid album. I was looking forward to this for ages and I wasn't disappointed.
>>74665365
I guess I can see why a lot of people might prefer GTH over AFD, but man you gotta appreciate the consistency of this one. It makes for a really good listen from beginning to the end while keeping the similar atmosphere throughout it.
GTH on the other hand, while it had more 'fun' songs, felt all over the place for me. I liked that one as well, it's one of my favorite albums from the past couple years actually, but I think I'll be playing this one a lot more for a longer time.
>>74665555
I personally though GTH was quite consistent. Even the fun fast paced songs had dark lyrics and couldn't mask the feeling of dread the entire album had.
How can /mu/ fail to acknowledge the single best album of the 20th century and also the greatest musical genius of our time?
>>74665217
quick rundown please
>>74665217
Voices of Old People should have been cut. I wish they had written more songs as good as America and Overs.
>>74665217
I like Paul Simon's s/t solo album a lot better
>album cover art ratio isn't 1:1
>>74665205
what is 1:1
would you mind to explain?
>>74665219
Use your brain cumdick
>>74665219
Ratio. For example your sceen's ratio is 16:9 because you're likely using a 1920:1080 monitor.
1:1 means square.
