You're so wrong. You didn't waifu a main character, you waifu'd someone who already practically flawless. So you shouldn't be surprised that she doesn't get a lot of attention. It doesn't mean the writers hate her, but you picked an extremely popular character with no more actual development to have as your favorite. I never see people insult you in non-shitposting threads just for liking her, and she has 20,000+ more images than crusaders, who have a lot of development and attention in the show. Despite the fact that she has so much less in the show, she is included and very high in every popularity poll, while the crusaders, with their multiple episodes per season, are hardly ever even thought of to be included in the first place, and when they are, they're at the bottom. Almost nobody shits on you in more than an obligatory "lol 4chan" way. I hope you get your episode or two, but nobody hates you or your character.

she's been the "oh the powerful goodguy character got defeated by badguy, this situation is really serious!" -character/plot device for the show since the beginning. she may have had glimmers of a personality at times but now she will never be more than something to spew exposition and drive plots forward.

Well, that is true but only because it's pretty hard to dislike a character that has little to no personality whatsoever, and it's also very easy to like because you can project whatever you want into her, I mean, most fanworks featuring her are almost always revolving around some autistic fanon thing or something already contradicted by the show.
She's the blank slate character for not only all your wish fulfillment fantasies but also the tool to shove every little theme or plot you'd want to see in the show when it makes so little sense any other character wouldn't be able to work it (I know all the other characters can be used for this too regardless, but with celestia it's so much easier).

Makes sense. I can see the appeal, and she was one of my favorite characters in the first two seasons, but for anyone to say that she's underrated, despite all this, just seems crazy to me. Back before Luna started getting good episodes, there was some sense in complaining that Luna's more well-liked, but at this point, it's just silly to expect for her to get more love than the immense amount she already gets.

Every character has "a lot of potential" that doesn't really mean a thing; Twist has lots of potential, Gummy has lots of potential; in the right hands, an interesting episode could be made out of the frog Twilight turned into an orange on that one episode. You also can't brake what isn't yet built anyway, and there's no point in doing an episode focused on her either; she's still supposed to be this wise mentor figure akin to Dumbledore in Harry Potter (meaning that whenever we need to prove a new villain is an actual threat, she needs to get the stick because there's not many things between her and common ponies), so, as long as there's a sane person left in the production crew, we'll never see a Celestia episode; this show is -supposedly- about learning about friendship, and she is supposed to already know all these lessons from her long life, there's no need for us to get such episode and there's no need for her to have one.

Also, I saw her at a con where a legit autist had a bit of a breakdown trying to ask a question and Nicole rushed out took her under her wing and settled her right down. It was very charming and maternal.
