Comic #39 is out on iTunes.
Previous comics can be found here:
No problem. I'm happy Anons still stick around for these given the swing of quality the comics can have from issue to issue.
That's all of it. Hope you enjoyed it /mlp/!

Next month we also get Comic #40 featuring Spike and Twilight:
My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic #40
>Ted Anderson (w) • Brenda Hickey (a & c) • Sara Richard (c) • Jennifer Myer (c)
>The untold first meeting of Twilight and baby Spike! Twilight is given her most difficult task yet by Princess Celestia when she is told to take care of a baby dragon who is quite a handful! Will Twilight learn the right lesson in caring for another?
Not that I'm aware of. I'll be really sad if Comic #40 turns out being shit though. Cause it seems like anything that shows up in the comics has a low chance of coming up in the show, and Spike and Twilight's backstory is something I'm interested in.
That's what happens with Whitley stuff.
Dreading this one so much. Dumb Baby Cakes shit combined with something that should have been touched on in show and written by fucking Ted Anderson. Next month is all shit comics.
I'm not sure how many good seasons of pony we have left. Last season was great, but it feels like some of the old writers are moving on and the new group is questionable sometimes.
Probably enough, honestly. And really, their background is only so much. I want to know his future place, and where his egg actually came from. I hope the comic doesn't cover that, just shenanigans of him being a baby.
Luna seems to know a lot about dragons based on the books. Maybe they could use her to give him a quest hook for a season and by the end of it he'd have some better direction than now.
Luna in the books seems to basically be Equestrias ambassador to non pony species. They respect her so much that the word that she needed help was enough for dragons to descend upon Ponyville and help them fight a monster.
That is the kind of shit I would want to see. This baby stuff, I guess it's just random and Anderson knows none of his stuff matters. So we'll see.
It's meant to be appealing enough to enough of the pony fanbase to extract money from them. Cute fillies doing cute things will likely be enough regardless of how the comic turns out I think.
Luna being Equestria's ambassador to non equine species would make for a good episode if they could fit it in somehow.
Like I said, at least the writer knows his place.
That concept was an AKR one, but Berrow expanded upon it. Hopefully she wrote something more. The books she did are more related to the show considering that they were directly mentioned.
7/10 it was okay
Specifically, it was a nice plot and it was great to see the fillies bond over a fire and some trials and tribulations and whatnot. Art was mediocre but it was simple enough to match the simplicity of the plot.
This was the most boring MLP comic so far. Fucking nothing happened and the moral is the most clichéd bullshit ever. Garbowska's art is also really off at some places.
I'd give it a 6/10 because at least it wasn't offensive to my tastes as the Siege of the Crystal Empire was. It was just a typical filler story.
7/10 it's alright I guess
Art's wonky and a bit uninspired. The interactions between everyone was really good and the saving grace of the comic.
It was way too simple though. I guess it would do for an episode but it doesn't deliver much. Loved Snips and Snails in here.
Yeah. I liked it but it was just an extended Friends Forever issue. Nothing more, nothing less.
Maybe it's because every lore building the comics have done were just embarrassingly disappointing that the return to form is a sight for sore eyes.
The three it's because snip and snail, they are really cool guys and they are the only thing that is good in this comic.
The drama whit diamond and everyone else is old, dull.
>snip and snail: 10/10 >i wish I could see more of the pair.
January’s sales numbers are up.
MLP FiM #38 (The CMC plus Diamond Tiara, Silver Spoon and Snips & Snails) sold 16,173 comics, gaining 414 sales compared to December’s sales.
MLP FF #24 (Rarity and Gilda’s story with Jay Fosgitt’s art) sold 12,623 comics, losing 845 sales compared to December’s sales.
For nobody’s surprise, Jay Fosgitt’s comic sold very poorly despite the potential of the story itself.
Unrelated but was >pic related from the latest FF issue? I've recently read all the issues available on yayponies but couldn't find it anywhere.
Yeah, page 21 specifically.
I saw it firsthand. The worst thing is that she felt that way for months, AND they ended up getting her name wrong twice.
Real shame because she seemed to slightly give a fuck about the story and only made one minor error, and she got an artist who gave no fucks.
No, she just has no more in the pipeline. She's like one of the main writers on their Transformers comics and is relaunching Strawberry Shortcake. It's just a coincidence she's not doing anything for now. Though I'd guess she is a bit turned off at the idea of doing more.
>Don't even 100 replies
>already ded in the page 10
Same happend with pic related.
Is because the artstyle or the writing?
He wrote Spike / Celestia issue? I liked it as it explored fine deal both of those characters. Interaction was good too.
She should be here, cause she draws the cutest Spike.
It's because the story was too bland and padded while the art was just meh.
If the previous comics were like a drinking a lukewarm glass of crappy store brand soda, this 2 parter was like drinking a tall, cold glass of (flat) coca-cola.
Characters featured and the story aren't interesting enough. The comic wasn't offensively bad or particularly good. First part was meh enough to make the hype for this minimal.
Yes on both of those counts. This is probably overdue for an update, but it should be accurate.
Dan hasn't been around here since November according to the archive. Looking up that video on /co/'s archive didn't give anything either, and I'd think given that he's around there a lot more often they'd find out quickly.
Many of the new figures come right out of scenes from the cartoon, and according to Lomow, a new series of comic books from IDW debuts this fall extending some of the story lines from the series and new toys.
>a new series of comic books from IDW debuts this fall
With the current staff, i'm not hyped
Dude, read the fucking thread. This toyline is 100% based on the fucking cartoon so of course it will be covered.
The comics will expand on it the same way as it expanded the original cartoon.
Read again the fucking comic, nigger. Snips and Snails ask them what the fuck they ever did to be mistreated and the incident with the Ursa is immediately brought up.
Of course everyone would laugh after forgetting how S&S could have killed the entire town.
nothing happen. nothing to learn, to be ashamed.
At least sombra got some pussy at the end.
>I'm happy Anons still stick around for these given the swing of quality the comics can have from issue to issue.
Well I mean, it's for free and otherwise I'd just be posting stupid shit.
And sometimes comics I expected to be weak turn out to be fairly enjoyable.
Not because it was especially shitty, like the siren's fiendship issue for example, but because nothing happened. There were multiple parts where it took them a page or even more to perform one single action like climbing a mountain or pulling them back over the cliff.
I have high hopes for Bluejerk and Shiny though
I thought I was the only one who noticed
