Except there's literally nothing to suggest Equestria is a matriarchal society. It's very clearly, canonically, gender-egalitarian. There's simply no indication that one gender is advantaged or dominant, and we've seen ponies of both genders in all sorts of positions. The current alicorns are female, but it's a merit based position and as such would logically be gender-neutral. Starswirl likely almost became one, for example, but he didn't understand friendship. Either way, again, literally everything we've seen points towards Equestria having gender-equality and both genders being equally influential overall.

Either way, if we had more brother pairs in the show, I think we'd see a brotherhooves social, as there's no reason whatsoever to believe it wouldn't exist. I'm sure you've noticed, but the writers don't exactly go to great lengths to explain and flesh out things not immediately relevant to the plot and characters.

Ultimately though, I've been arguing with people about this for a long time, and I've yet to see anything resembling a convincing counterargument. Everything in the show points towards gender-egalitarian, from the characters, both major and minor, to the environment, to even more meta things like the message and spirit of the show itself.
