A tale of friendship, the open road, and a thirst for adventure. Let us go down the rabbit hole.
Is this something established or brand-new?
Because if brand-new, then pic related, let us dive in!
First for Not All Who Wander Are Lost.
Onward with the quest!
Alright, I'm curious.
Let's see what you've got.
Let us start with selecting the race of our protagonist.
Earth: Strong ponies with a magical connection with the Earth.
Pegasus: The masters of the sky and clouds with warlike tendencies.
Unicorn: The usually weakest but most intelligent of the main three races. If all else fails then stabby stab with that sick horn.
Other: Any other race you fancy the protagonist to be.
You were an Earth Pony who firmly believes to be a Unicorn, although nopony really buys it.
Are you a Stallion or Mare?
I'm sorry, I don't want the inevitable spouting of "earth pony cis scum" coming out of our avatar's mouth.
You were certain you were a Stallion, but whenever you tried to do "magic", you could hear a voice in your head growling in a feminine tone. You've never told anyone else about it, they'd think you were crazy!
Alright so what was your vocation?
Adventurer: Your curiosity got the best of you as you packed your things and left to see the world.
" Earthgician": You studied under a unicorn to learn magic. After much time and effort you learned to use actual telekinesis!
Outlaw: After being falsely accused for stealing, you were forced to leave before you lost a good over it. Now you embrace the life of a wanted Stallion. Whether you turn this around or continue down this lifestyle is up to chance.
Other: If above choices do not suit your tastes.
With a book of arcane knowledge and your tutelage complete you set off to hone your magical muscle.
Upon leaving the tutor you recieved a package from a courier. Within you found...
Timberwolf Totem: A piece of wood. Creates a Timberwolves companion. Becomes Timberpony if blood is given.
Gold War Horn: Stores magic than be used later. A treasure of Equus.
Circlet of Merlinus: A headpiece worn by descendants of Starswirl. Amplifies magic and allows use of Unicorn Exclusive Magic.
With the strange totem in your possession, you study it with your telekinesis as you smack against a wall, scrunching your nose as you wait for the pain to subside.
"God job idiot now why did you go and do that to yourself".
>On goodness it's my bestie!
>I get back on my hooves as I look at my best friend...
>Your name & Cutie Mark?
>Who was he/she again?
>Steel Mark, The Unicorn: The blacksmith's son who stood by you when everypony else wouldn't.
>Winter Gust, The Pegasus: Nicknamed Windigo for his uncanny ability to use ice instead of thunderclouds.
Arrow Flynn, The Earth Pony: Nicknamed Longstride for her fame of hitting a bit 200 feet away in one shot.
I see what you did there, and I'll vote for that just because it amused me.
...If this is a vote. This is a voting point, right?
Name: Solar Flare
Cutiemark: pic related
>not Red Sun
>hot having the cutiemark of a red sun protected by a shield
Steel Mark: Blacksmith - 5
Winter Gust: Frostventurer - 2
Arrow Flynn: Archer - 5
Name: Wood Spire(Name I like the most right now).
Steel Mark and Arrow Flynn are tied with Winter Gust falling behind.
>"What do your Earth pony eyes see Flynn"
>You snap back at her.
>She only shows a smirk in response.
"I spy a unicorn trapped in an earth ponies body wanting to volunteer as target practice".
>you gulp nervously trying to laugh it off.
>You still remember when you played Apple on the Head in your foalhood.
" Hey Flynn knock it off will ya. You aren't going to be using nopony as target practice".
>Your savior, the Stallion with the pitch black fur and the short steel mane.
>While Flynn would would joke around and be pretty carefree.
>Mark was the voice of reason and action. He always kept the bullies off your back.
>He was the only one to play along with you believing you were 'are' a unicorn.
> Like how elsy could you learn telekinesis if you weren't.
>"So I was gonna ask if my two best buddies would go on an adventure ".
" Sure me and Mark will go on an "adventure with you".
>Hurray for friends!
" I never said that I wanted to come along on some "adventure".
>Mark quoted with his hooves.
>How does he move his hooves like that?
>He Nevers shows me how to do that.
" Alright Spire, me and Flynn will get ready for the "adventure".
>You were always glad that Mark put up with your hair brained ideas.
>Your friends left to get their things in order before you head out.
>You might wanna get some stuff before you have to meet up with Mark and Flynn tomorrow.
>Wouldn't wanna go in unprepared.
Just stumbled into this thread. Trans-unicorn, huh? Intriguing. I must see more.
>You stop the home get some things for the trip.
>After gathering everything you could possibly need.
>Alright, what have got.
>My traveling cloak.
>Mystic Help Book
>And that seems to be everything I can think of at the moment.
>All right I think I'm set for tomorrow.
>I wonder if there's anything I need to do before heading to bed?
You can activate the Timber Totem tonight if you want to. You can add your blood into the totem before burying overnight.
>You grab some medicinal herbs and bandages and place them into your saddlebag.
>Grabbing your shovel from the toolshed and pulling the totem out.
>What should I do about you?
>You have a good amount of money.
>Will you do something with the totem or go sleep for the night?
Burn incense around the totem overnight along with our blood.
I think as long as we have it we can summon our minion
Planting the totem will activate the totem, allowing you to summon the Timberwolf/pony.
Standard summon is wolf.
Using blood summons pony.
Totems of different creatures can be found during your travels if you look hard enough.
>Grabbing the shovel you start to unearth some dirt.
>After unearthing a few feet of soil.
>You pull the totem out as you ready to place it down.
>The Totem's face clamps down on your hoof.
>The totem lets go after it drew blood from you as you cover the hole back up.
>With a long yawn you lay down to get some rest for tomorrow.
The Following Morning
>You awake with a chink in your back which you gladly crack.
>Well time to see if the totem actually did anything.
>After eating some crunchy hay for breakfast.
>Heading outback you find the hole where you planted the totem is empty.
>As though something crawled out.
>Please don't be attacking some random long.
>A low gutteral growl is heard from behind you.
>Oh lovely, this is gonna go over so well.
>How will you react?
>Slowly turning around you were expecting the worst.
>Instead you saw a adorable little timberfilly.
>With wooden claws at her hooves.
>Wood at her barrel and the rest of her skin had the appearance of the insides of a tree.
>She looked at you expectantly with her glowing green eyes wagging her light brown tail and mane that had leaves and twigs in them.
>"Uh, um Sit"? Surprisingly she did just as you asked and waited patiently for you.
>"Alright, so just stay there while I get my things OK".
>With a nod of agreement, you went back inside your home.
>Putting on your saddlebags and clothes you head out as the timberfilly follows energetically beside you.
>On your way to the meeting spot, you ponder what you should name the little timberfilly.
>Name your woodsy companion.
>"Alright my little Woodsy, were gonna have ourselves a good old adventure".
>Woodsy does a little howl in agreement.
>S-so cute, my sides.
>Making your way through the quiet town.
>You see your two friends waiting at the front gate.
>They were all packed up and ready to venture as well.
"Hey Spire were here for this " adventure " you want us to go do".
>Mark does that magical wristhoof thing again.
>"Oh almost forgot, my little friend here is Woodsy, and she's coming along too".
"Ain't she a little cutie". Flynn ruffles Woodsies many, and get a few licks in return.
" Alright everypony, let's get this show on the road ".
>As we traveled down the winding road.
>We wondered about what things we might discover, obstacles we might face, and possibly a friend or two made along the way.
>Well never know what we could have found if we don't Wander.
>Because sometimes, Not All who Wander are Lost.
>Wood Spires story has just barely begun and yet.
>There are stories of other fellow wanderers traveling across this land.
>Two other tales of Wanderers are open to you to explore if you dare. Choose one.
>Strife & Fringe: Wanderers of the North.
>Life & Flame: Wanderers Beyond the Badlands.
The choice's made by the character's in either story affects what happens to Spire and the other group.
Strife & Fringe affects Spires story the most.
Life & Flame affects the character's in Strife & Fringe the most.
Strife & Fringe
>Some bad business has been going down in the North.
>The Crystal Heart has gone missing.
>Winter storms threaten the Empire.
>And many of her citizens have gone missing.
>You had gone missing.
>You, were lady Tourmaline Tourney.
>You were a not too shabby jouster.
>You won sometimes and lost others.
>You were in some kind of dark cave.
>You still had your armor and boots on.
>Damn no helmet or lance.
>There was a door and a path leading further into the cave
>You brushed the dirt off your mane like the color of the gem you were named after.
>You tied your longnmane into a ponytail and dusted off your silver coat.
>You wish you had wingsnor a horn right now, it would help to have those.
>Great. What have I gotten myself into now?
What shall our poor crystal equine do now?
>Finding a good sized rock you ready to whack anything that might be dangerous.
>Walking down the passage with only the clink of your boots resounding in your ears.
>After a while you come across some fellow ponies.
>About a dozen of assorted ponies young and old were huddled together.
>"H-hello? Are you ponies okay"? The group were scared stiff by you.
"Your not of them Ice Monsters are you"? A filly asks fearfully huddled against her elders.
>"What do you mean by "Ice Monster"? You inquire.
An elderly Stallion point's towards the way you came.
"All our middle aged ponies went to find a way out of here, but only their frozen husks returned, trying to break in to get to us".
>Damn, just your luck to get caught up in some crazy stuff like this.
>"Look, I'll try to get some help so just stay put okay"?
>You come back the way you came to the room you woke up in.
>You open the door and continue up to a fork in the path.
>One path had blood splattered across the floor and ceiling.
>The sight of it made you want to toss your breakfast.
>The other one was very cold with icicles forming in the ceiling, which sent chills throughout your body.
>Neither way seemed particularly pleasant but...you couldn't just wait back there until you froze or starved to death.
>Trying to avoid staining your armor with blood you carefully make your through the passageway leading to an even more horrendous sight.
>Body parts littered the floor with a pile of bodies in the corner.
>A table of the murderer ponies belongings lay on a table.
>There was a spear, knife, saddlebag, some bandages and a little container of food.
>You pick the things up and ready to leave the slaughterhouse of a room.
>You notice a trap door near the middle of the room.
>'Well, maybe this'll be easier to checking the ice path'?
>Slowly undoing the latch, you open the creaky trap door expecting danger to pop out at you.
>However it only was a little drop down into a tunnel big enough for you to fit through.
>You can hear whispers of wind coming through the tunnel.
>This could possibly be a way out but you wouldn't be to jump or climb back up if you jumped down.
>Will you go into the tunnel?
>It would be a good to have right now.
>The only source of it in the room was used to suspend a body above the ground.
>You cut the body from the rope as it thumps to the ground.
>Well now I've got the bloody rope(quite literally).
>Anchoring it to the wall you set up the rope to climb back if need be.
>What do you do?
>You hang to the rope as you lower yourself into the tunnel.
>Nothing seemed creepy yet aside from the tunnel's square shape.
>You started down the way formamwhile.
>You eventually come upon an intersection diverging two different directions.
>One went upward while other went downward.
>Well this is just great.
>Where do I go now?
>Following the sounds of wind you head down the lower tunnel.
>After what felt like half a bucking hour you finally reach the end of the tunnel.
>It drops onto a cobblestone pathway leading to the snow covered land before you.
>What do you do?
