I don't know if this is cheating or not but I start with finding a picture with the pose I want, size it down in photoshop, and then trace over it in another layer. Adding details like manes and tails I do freehand, but it takes alot of time.

Really the best thing to do is just practice, but I guess that really isn't that much help.

I'm gonna get shit for it, but that ended up taking a back seat for art in general and university soon.
I think about it sometimes, but you know. It never got beyond her being a little flirtatious if it will humor her, talks a lot to her customers if they ask about her work, and has a dry sense of humor that is only occasionally apparent.

I'm terrible at characterization. But I guess I can contribute mediocre art here to horses that click with me at the very least.

Colors are really dark for the coat so when mixed with the brighter red mane and tail, it gives off this kinda edgy appearance. I'd brighten the coat and try a less harsh-looking red. Other than that, its not bad.
