Friends Forever #24 is out on iTunes.

A modern-looking office? In Griffonstone?
This comic is triggering me.
But that's why Fleecs is so bad, he tries to be similar to the show's art style and fails completely because he is not made for that style, at the end he put chins on every pony. That's why Fiendship 2 is his best comic, it just have a single horse.
That's all of it. Hope you enjoyed it in some form /mlp/!

Honestly I was so distracted by the art that the story was very hard to pay attention to. It was difficult to follow.
2/10. Ball only wrote one comic before this, so she has a slight excuse. But there's no excuse for this incompetence from Fosgitt.
Later this month we get Comic #38 starting the 2 part Don't You Forget About Us arc:
My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic #38
>Christina Rice (w) • Agnes Garbowska (a & c) • Sara Richard (Subscription Variant) • Mary Bellamy (Retailer Incentive Cover)
>"Don’t You Forget About Us" part 1! The Cutiemark Crusaders hit the great outdoors with their class! When a small group becomes stranded in the wilderness it will take ingenuity and teamwork to make it back to safety!
Just to note, the editor said they won't have their cutie marks till after this two part arc.
And next month we get Friends Forever #25 staring Twilight and Rainbow:
My Little Pony: Friends Forever #25
>Barbara Kesel (w) • Brenda Hickey (a) • Tony Fleecs (c) • Brenda Hickey (Subscription Variant cover)
>Rainbow Dash wakes up to discover that here wings have VANISHED! It’s up to the relatively newly-winged Twilight to help her friend find out the source of the mysterious occurrence.
Did they forget that they already had a Greta the Griffon?
The moral at the end and that dated Celestia letter makes no fucking sense.
And now that I'm done dumping. What in the hell is Rarity's anatomy in that last panel?
I almost want to see some one red line it, but I'm not sure if that pose can be made sense of.
It's super weird that the letter was to the princess
The comic clearly mentions and the writer is certainly aware of major points in season 5
And the only line had to be changed to "dear diary"
I dunno what it is about MLP comics.
If the art is decent, the story generally is horrible (see: almost anything Price works on).
If the art is horrible, the story may have a chance of being decent (which this qualifies as on both counts).
More often it's horrible for both.
I mean, this doesn't even remotely resemble the actual show!
Not only that, it's literally Loony Tunes face.
Has it gotten to the point for anyone else that they'd rather read fanfics than the comics?
I can think of more than a handful of writers whose fanfic shit I'd rather read than IDW's stable of comics writers.
Man, this is a supreme lack of trust in your artist. Old griffon in >>26011478 is seriously supposed to be Grandpa Gruff.
I kind of... hated it. I wanted to give it a chance with its shitty griffon designs, and we got shit yak designs to go with it. I hate everything about it, and Rarity was stupid, the griffons were stupid. It felt like I was reading something ultra dumbed down for the purpose of being dumbed down. It didn't make sense and I hate it. I think I'd give it a 2 or 3/10, probably 3/10 since while it butchered entire races, it was mildly flowing.
Hey, at least Rarity was actually in character in the comics for once, been a while since any of the comic writers have done her decently. But she was compassionate, generous and brave here to go along with her usual eccentric nature.
I don't. We had plenty of alternate designs in griffonstone, but there was creativity in their coloring and how they styled their head feathers and what spots and striped they had. Here we have a bunch of bullshit and off-model head hair and shit.
>literally none of these designs were utilized
Just kill me.
That was a fun episode. Both seeing all those griffons designs and homes and the story itself.
A shame none of it seemed to make it into the comics unless you count the discarded scone cart.
The saddest part about this was that a writer who clearly watched at least the episode that talked about Griffonstone had her story drawn by an artist who couldn't even be assed to do a Google search.
Yeah it's unfortunate, since for the most part, I liked the characterizations in this issue, It was one of the best showing's Rarity has had in the comics since like the freaking Rarity/Babs issue or so, she actually felt like herself and not flanderized. and Gilda was fun too and played off her well. With a better artist, this could of been a really solid issue.
What? That one actually looks like it'll be good. Brenda's an awesome artist, and while I don't know much about the writer, she's not Cook, so it'll be fine.
Also, a Rainbow Dash/Twilight episode was the best episode of S4. All signs are pointing towards this being not shit. It would be insanely hard for them to fuck this up.
Okay, the Prince Rutherford in >>26011544 seriously does not look like Fosgitt. If it actually is, why the fuck didn't he draw the rest of the comic like that? Is that actually just one of Breckel's edits?
it literally looks like it was drawn by Andy Price while the rest was drawn by fogitt. Either Fosgitt had Andy draw that character, or Fosgitt is a faggot who is intentionally "stylizing" everything to shit for his own personal ego.
I'm still fucking pissed off, it's ridiculous.
1. HAIR on griffons. Was the designer retarded?
2. Boffyball is more important than baking, the one thing that made Gilda her first friend, Greta.
2a. Where the fuck was Greta? Was that fat Greta fuck Greta? If so, jesus fucking christ. But otherwise, way to overlook previous plot points you useless fucking writers.
4. Grandpa Gruff. Just fuck this shit, I'm out.
This comic is awful in so many ways I'm just raging, and by raging I mean quietly typing while having an angry look on my face.
I couldn't even get halfway. The art is a disgrace to the source material and the thought behind its conception.
At first I thought Fosgitt would be some welcome variation to change things up, but the absolute lack of respect or apparent interest for the show is too much for me.
History shit as ever/10
The art style is just a dump of random cartoon style without any care about anatomy or cartoon accuracy. This artist don't give a shit about the show.
>implying that they watch the show.
Holy fuck the writer of this is really disappointed. She didn't see any art until all the lettering was done and couldn't get anything changed. Her Twitter is just her being sullen and it's kind of sad. She actually agreed with fans that he should have Googled the characters or looked up the episode on YouTube. That Greta in the story we got actually was supposed to be the one we saw in the show.
A mistake she admits is that she forgot that the griffon naming convention wasn't just for females, so just gave male griffons German names.
But holy shit this is a sad story. Shame she's not going to be on more issues, and I can't imagine this was the best experience for her.
A few other ones in here. Honestly sounds like she's dreading talking about this more.
Fucking Fosgitt. It has to be an insult to a writer when your artist clearly gives no fucks.
>This is going to be a long 48 hours.
So who here thinks Fosgitts laziness will make her not want to work with pony related stuff in the future?
>tfw linking to the wrong post.
Probably. Honestly I would be surprised if Fosgitt did more stuff considering she probably complained to IDW. They probably just shrugged and said nothing to Fosgitt though. Curnow is a hack who is about as last as Fosgitt.
Fucking hell, Fosgitt dun'it again.
It's painfully obvious he cant't draw quadrupeds still, giving ponies this awkward look when interacting with the environment.
But the kicker of the month?
In every single frame Rarity is in...
...she NEVER use her horn.
The horns aren't a fucking decoration Fosgitt, even the spergiest of bronies have better imagination than you.
this stadium look like Undead Purgatory
>Fostgitt as the artist
I haven't even looked at the first page to not even bother to check this comic out for free. Not to mention possibility to buy it.
the only comics i will check out are either made by Hickey, because of her cute art or written by Whitley to see if he fallen deeper into a shit hole like Cook or if he learned his lessons and stick to the basics.
So this is her first issue? Wow, big points for her admitting what she thinks of it.
I can normally get enjoyment out of a comic if at least the art, the story or the jokes are good.
But Fosgitt somehow manages to shit on all of it with his style.
Looking forward to the next main arc though
>way to overlook previous plot points you useless fucking writers.
I don't think you can put the blame on the writer. It felt like she actually put effort into it, she just drew the shortest stick and had her script butchered by a shitty artist. I mean, she even had to go on Twitter and point out that Grandpa Gruff was in the comic because she knew that Fosgitt butchered it beyond recognizability.
Not much change based on
Still IDW's stronger contenders selling between 15000-20000
His earlier issues didn't make me as angry because I was like
>Oh well, he probably just needs some practice
But this is like watching some retard trying to push the quadratic block through the triangular hole over and over again.
He simply doesn't give a shit.
The Round Stable is just starting the praising and free damage control circlejerk.
The Illustrious Q is already shilling future issues.
I have a PERFECT fucking day right now, my mood is so high it's through the roof
Not even your shitty tiny looney tunes where ponies probably aren't even ponies can ruin it, Fosgitt, so give me your best shot, let's do this
Not in the next month or two at least.
In the main series the next two being are drawn by Garbowska. In the Friends Forever series the next one is being drawn by Hickey followed by Fleccs the next month.
Luckily, I was right! The comic was a steaming pile of anatomical shit for art with just a shovel or two of vomit subsiding for a logical and interesting story, but I'm still okay! Now I can forget this almost traumatic experience and pretend it never existed.
Life is good, people!
You mean like having Rarity use magic for at least once throughout a 20 something page long comic? Hahahaha. Ha. Yeah, right. I'd probably shit my pants, deleted my entire pony folder and converted to some obscure eastern religion. Still wouldn't buy the comic though.
It's just that things have gone really well today so I'm in a state of short term euphoria, no memeing intended. They say that mood swings behave like a pendulum, so in the couple next days I'll probably be fucked! Who cares though, it's $currentDay!
It's now just a girl's Looney Toons comic/10
At least it's not filled with shitty memes/10
Yeah, you were right. Is this seriously the first time in any of the comics where Rarity wasn't a complete bitch, or didn't oogle at the first male of any species she saw? Especially considering how horribly OOC she was in the last Friends Forever, this one was actually kind of pleasant.
Unfortunately, that can't really make up for some of the other issues with the comic. It still wasn't that great. However, like I said, I'll take a certain amount of satisfaction from the fact that someone didn't write Rarity as poorly as she usually is in IDW.
The drawing was obscene but the story was good.
Thank you for the comics!
>This writer actually care about the critic
Inb4 all the shill and cocksucking of Illustrious Q and his friends will turn her in a Katie Cook 2.0
k. Let check this writter that will don't have future comic planned after this
I thought it was a nice comic either way.
You know, the sad thing is I defended Fosgitt after the Spitfire/Dash FF. It was his first shot, and he seemed to have been thrown into it without having a chance to really look at the background material. I really did think he'll get better, since his poses seemed to be expressive and animated if not accurate.
But now, fuck that. It's painfully clear he simply doesn't care about the world nor the character design. Trust not just broken, but shattered, burned, and buried in a concrete sarcophagus at the bottom of the ocean.
>no more pitches planned
She actually quit of the comic staff because this?
It really is a shame for the comics. Some people are just going to pass over anything by him on principle now I'm guessing.
>Fosgitt still working
>Pic related not because she isn't "profesional enought" and Fosgitt was recomended by Katie Cook
Welp, Tony fleecs isn't the worst artist of the MLP comic in my list anymore
I dunno. Seige of the Crystal Empire had generally decent art but pretty shit writing. Maybe it's important to have fucking competent people in both positions.
It helps if the editor does their god damn job spell checking stuff
That Friends Forever was better for me personally. I liked what it did for the two of them.
God, you know how Fosgitt is a total fucking hack? Check out his Twitter or look for the con sketches people pay him directly for. Oh, THEN he can suddenly draw just fine!
I'd bet that he would blame Hasbro too, not like literally every fucking artist on the comic who also deals with them and creates better shit.
It's really fucking sad how much of a circlejerk IDW is. Because Ball isn't a part of it, they gave her Fosgitt, someone only on the team because of nepotism. You know, I actually heard them complain about the concept of fandom artists getting on the comic before, maybe it was Mebberson? I guess they don't want people who actually give a fuck making their art and stories look bad.
But it is getting increasingly evident that Andy Price really fucking hates his job. It seems like that for most of the MLP comic crew. Why would IDW not try to change this?
I mean, look at Transformers. At least those guys are happy with it. I think one of their writers recently won an award for their Transformers comic.
>maybe it was Mebberson?
Yes, because this cover
If you look at advertising and the way IDW shows MLP it actually looks like they fucking hate having it. Despite both adding up to be their biggest franchise their FB almost never mentions them and the page on their site is halfway down.
Like I said with the two series combined it is the biggest thing IDW has and I think they actually resent that. Kind of a laughing stock so they're trying to sabotage their embarrassment.
The guy who does literally nothing and is a doormat afraid to correct anyone because of "artistic freedom?" Sure.
The "Seige" thing was less a form a protest and more just to fuck with him because they knew he wouldn't change shit. When someone spells something wrong Curnow assumes that it was intentional for some reason.
Here's the thing: why should they out any effort at all into what they're doing? This is a shitty spin-off of a shitty series with the shittiest fan base, who will gladly eat up all this bullshit since they are just that garbage.
It seems like most of the IDW staff doesn't give a fuck about the show. The only two people I think watch it are Anderson and Whitley, and they're fucking terrible writers. Actually not unconvinced that they just read Tumblr summaries of episodes.
Too many people are on this book for their ego or to get con sketches rather than actually enjoying the franchise and IDWs anger at its reputation probably contributes.
That's all of it. Hope you guys that read it enjoyed it and maybe it helps to compare the writing.
As someone who has published a few technical papers, having an editor with no balls to do their job would be the most infuriating thing ever. You know you will miss fucking stupid obvious things, and having an editor that actually does their job helps save you from looking like a fucking retard.
Here a littler plus
Literally none except Whitely who said he wanted to work on the show, but he's an insane SJW.
They must have some sort of contract with Hasbro that they absolutely hate and can't get rid of. Perhaps something like Hasbro gets a portion of sales, so they try to ruin it so they can stop giving them their sales?
Seen down the line from when it originally came out, it's not perfect. But it's certainly some of the damn best writing we've seen in the comics.
> Celestia has meaningful depth as a character
> Actually competent and helpful with her powers
> The apology at the end is actually the fault of the characters apologizing and comes after a reasonable turnaround, unlike 90% of apologies in the comics.
> Dat bittersweet final page
It's real pity they've turned the writer off to working further now. Having her handle a full-length arc is something I'd love to see.
>be the story editor of the TMNT and Transformers
>proud as fuck because they are the best seller of the IDW comics
>a new all age comic appear
>they sell a lot more that your best works
Bobby just hate MLP.
How much the comic would change if
Lauren Faustwas the story editor
Whitley strikes me as one of those that gets all of his knowledge of the show from Tumblr.
And Hasbro contracts that last years are part of the reason IDW doesn't give a shit.
Price did say he was sick of people asking for their OCs in comics (ironic) and that Hasbro was a bitch to work with. That comment plus his declining fucks apparent in his new stuff says a lot.
>Price did say he was sick of people asking for their OCs in comics
Which is entirely understandable, I'd get sick of a bunch of autists constantly asking me if I can shoehorn their characters into official work rather quickly, too.
I was at a con with Price, while I was looking at Price's stuff I heard him talking to another artist near him saying how much he was getting tired of this, and a little sick of people asking him to put their OCs in the comic.
Then I tried to not be a "y-you too" kind of guy, so I asked him what it was like to work with a Hasbro brand, and he kind of lamented about how they were constantly over his shoulder, and told me that story about how Hasbro turned down his and Cook's original micro. He didn't sound particularly thrilled while talking.
im not sure she quit, maybe she just wasnt supposed to write any more of them for now?
how do the writers work for IDW? is it freelance style work where they make a few scripts then see if they get more contracts, or are they all in-house, so to say?
If he's so tired of that then why he keeps taking requests?
> They pay him top dollar per drawing
Oh, that's why. He wants the moni moni but don't want to deal with dumbtards?
Too bad, he can't have both things at once.
I just like seeing the cute ponies doing cute things, without breaking the rules of the universe their in.
Friends Forevers always seemed better at that, and without the failed adventure aspect of the last arc looming over it they could just focus on being friends and trying to piece that princess back together I suppose.
> Murrison talks to her
> She reveals that she was originally supposed to work with Amy Mebberson, not with Jay Fosgitt
THIS COMIC COULD HAVE BEEN GOOD
Nope, but i would cum inside that filly size mary sue mare Radiant Hope
They turned down her original micro because it was the plot of Rarity Takes Manehattan, which hadn't come out yet but what planned.
Got a lot of nerve getting Jim to put his OC in the show, then...
Anyway, IDW always got it wrong. Chrysalis is the supervillain that could be redeemed, not Sombra. For fuck's sakes.
I kept reading their conversation expecting the moment when Murrison would shit on her, then that little bit happened and now I'm mad and sad at the same time.
Why would he? She admitted faults, and her two stories in general are good. If she had a better artist for this one it would probably be a 7/10 issue as a whole.
Hell, at least Fleecs would have probably done some research.
Ah yes, IDW's new Sue. I'm going to issue an impossible challenge, show me an IDW character who isn't a Mary Sue, and/or isn't a "For the right reasons"
Fuck, maybe Shining Armor's friends or those stoner ponies? They haven't shown up in a while so I guess there aren't any anymore.
Most of Cook's recent characters are sue-ish for sure.
Something that I wish IDW would do is limit how many OCs are allowed in issues. I wonder if any of these writers could do an issue without one. Whitley probably couldn't.
Who is worst.
Radiant Hope or Mina?
Radiant Hope was actually made to create a story, as bad as it was. Mina was made to be a soapbox for a real world issue.
Radiant Hope is a bad Sue, but Mina is an author self insert that doesn't fit with the setting.
Mina is worse, and Dragontown is the worst thing G4 has produced.
The worst part of Mina is that she actually in a way justified Spike's internal racism.
Where did hating dragons and living among ponies bring Spike? A first name basis with three of the most powerful rulers in the world, a literal right hoof man for the newest princess, and an entire empire who treats him like he's their king for saving them.
Where did being proud of being a dragon lead Mina? Spending the rest of her life in a little ghetto of a pony city bitching about how ponies bring her down and should cater to her. She doesn't even know the accomplishments of probably the greatest living dragon.
The comic is trying to say that Mina's view is a preferable way for Spike to think but his accomplishments say otherwise.
Imagine if the show had the comics kind of mentality.
>Rarity Takes Manehattan
>"I know Suri essentially stole your special fabric and lied to you, but she did it for the right reasons! She couldn't do it on her own, and was to shy to be polite and ask you! Isn't that good?"
>"Yeah they're trying to turn people against each other and fight and manipulate, but they're hungry! We all have done crazy things when we're hungry, right gang?"
>Super Squeezy Cider 6000
>"I know they're trying to take over your farm and drive you out of business, but they need to be able to make money for their dying parents! You're an asshole Applejack for trying to stop them."
Mina worst oc.
It's the Tumblrtard worldview. They think because mummy and daddy gave them everything they wanted and told them what a special fucking snowflake they were when they did, that that's how you change things in the real world.
I know right?
how could someone hate that cutie?
Mina didnt know about The Great and Honorable Spike the Brave and Glorious, but she bitched about how ponies don't like or trust dragons.
She knew about Sombra but not the most famous dragon to ponies, the savior of an entire race?
>savior of an entire race
Dafuq? Since when?
It was amazing because she was bitching about how ponies always cast dragons as evil in stories.
She's literally one of those SJWs who cares more about pop culture than the real world.
>You always can visit 4chan's /mlp/ board to get some BRUTALLY HONEST comments.
We better clean up the place.
>no canon thing of any zebra origins
uhhh, the Journal of the Two Sisters goes into it. Talks about how the manticores were eating them and shit, so the zebras turned to magic potions to ward them away
here's the actual excerpt from Luna's perspective:
>Understanding that if you’ve never seen anypony like me it might be kind of scary, I explained about all the pony races of Equestria from Earth to Pegasus to Unicorn and how Alicorn was an amalgamation of all three of these. The zebras listened very intently, clearly very wise and patient ponyfolk. I then asked what happened with the manticores, since they appeared to be afraid of them. A zebra elder stepped up and told their tale.
>“Long ago, from whence you came, were horrid beasts that bore that name.
>“With bodies of lions, these creatures flew. They came to hunt. Their numbers grew. Under attack, we were resigned. This was the end of zebra-kind.
>“But then with potions and with spells, the zebras formed protective shells.
>“The manticores could not break though. They soon grew weak and then withdrew. From that day forward, they have hidden, knowing zebra land’s forbidden.”
>I was amazed by the zebra’s tale. When the manticores grew weak, the zebras didn’t attack them in return. All they wanted was for the manticores to leave so they could live in peace. I told them that I only knew of one manticore in Equestria now, and he was actually my friend. They were stunned at this. I couldn’t blame them. The way things started with Melvin, I hardly thought we were going to end up as friends. Then again, if I hadn’t ventured through the Everfree Forest, I would have never become friends with zebras!
Maybe a bit interesting, Im not sure.
A Zebra referee would be clever I think, because they would not need a sweater to have the stripes.
you have to wonder why they even keep the editor around sometimes. Jut fire him and save some money instead, Im sure there would be just as many faults in the printed version with the work the editor puts in now.
Well comics need an editor, you're thinking of why they can't fire artists or writers no matter how poor their work or attitude is: Because they already have to be begged to work on MLP and IDW would really rather have them work elsewhere.
IDW is trying to kill MLP because its a huge embarassment to them in the industry. Everyone publicly says how great it is that they are treating all ages comics so well but privately they're laughing that it's what IDW is most known for and by numbers their biggest thing.
That doesn't answer the question.
Obviously, the editor isn't doing his god damn job. They cocked up the name of the writer on the cover and title page. Terrible spelling errors make it into the final printing. Awful off model characters that don't resemble what they should be looking like. Why even bother keeping his ass around if he isn't doing his job.
Because Bobby is already in the company for years working on properties that actualy matter.
MLP, Transformers and other IDW non-original brands are only there to milk money while they work on the actual internal product they actualy care about. Bobby himself probably didn't even want the job and just got it pushed into him by his boss and has to keep the ship going until Hasbro stops having interest in keeping the comic afloat. It's a no effort job and they have no reason to actualy care.
Your assumptions don't have value to anyone but yourself though. IDW has always had actual original properties, some of which have gotten awards. They do licensing whoring to make money because otherwise they'd be dead in the market due to Marvel and DC having such a gigantic monopoly of retail space, but that doesn't mean they're nothing but licensing whores.
Then again you're a guy that only reads MLP comics trying to talk about the history of a company you only heard about when you got mad at the bad MLP material they do, but it doesn't mean everything else has no care. TMNT in particular, is another one Bobby works on, and he does a good job there because he actualy likes Turtles, you're just unlucky that the people getting stuck with MLP are people that don't actualy give much of a shit about it.
THEN WHY THE FUCK DO THEY HAVE THE FRANCHISE IF THEY DON'T GIVE A FUCK?
To make money off it. I thought that part was clear?
That's the reason your beloved show even exists. Because a company believes that a cheap flash cartoon is good advertising, and it apparently worked, so it got more seasons than expected. But I guarantee you not a single person involved is into it because of their romantic love of licensed toys made by chinese kids in sweat shops.
You are, you are a fan, but your world and the industry are different worlds.
It really doesn't actualy, if you've seen Season 5 at large you'll see how little thought goes into scripts, if you call it competent I am absolutely terrified of what you deem bad.
You could have fooled me. And isn't "romantic love of licensed toys made by Chinese kids in sweat shops" literally the entire reason that Faust agreed to reboot it to begin with?
Are you SERIOUSLY going to use for your argument people talking well about their boss and their job so they don't get fired/milk money out of suckers?
I could bring here for you a rapist and he would also defend himself instead of being honest. Much less employees of a company.
Don't be a moron, people need to eat and live, Lauren didn't accept to work on it out of the goodness of her heart, she accepted it because it was a paying job from a brand new animation studio and only stepped out when it got too stressful for her.
Bottom line, if any of those people are doing it out of pure passion then I'm sorry, but they simply fucking suck at their job, because Jim's claim of the thought that goes into the show, if accurate, means their best is still bad. Being shameless capitalists is actualy the better option here.
Jim's claim is absolutely right and I don't know how you can say that Season Five or the effort put into it was bad.
Look, if you work in animation or art in general it's got to be a labor of love. Why the fuck would you choose it otherwise? A fuckload of other, better careers are less stressful and require far less work AND give more money/fame.
Liking the medium does not equal caring about the overall product. Some people love animation, that doesn't mean their dream job was stuck as a storyboarder in canadian flash cartoons, even if they are there is no evidence they think the show is well made other than the fact they simply like to draw. I love journalism and I love doing it, I've still had to cover human garbage like fashion shows simply because it was the subject that popped up to bring home the pay that day.
You are completely ill brained if you look at the material the show has put out after the talented producers left is anything close to good or representing of effort. It's basic. It's very basic, there's shows everywhere that were made by better and smarter people that prove FIM is riding a wave of popularity that came from a early peak and the early unexpected fad of a show for little girls that wasn't garbage for once.
But the material they have now is clearly not good, for anyone that has a functioning brain.
Naturally. I don't like to hold on to old classics, as I find that unfair, but as far as consistent lore and world and narrative go, from FIM's own year of production, you have Tron Uprising, GI Joe Renagades, Green Lantern TAS and Scooby Doo Mystery Inc.
I know most of those are action shows, but the work on lore and character dynamics is the same proccess, and all of those simply did it better, even the ones that had to sell toys like FiM.
Seeing as how poorly the IDW team takes criticism, it probably wouldn't amount to much. Regardless of what I say, Fosgitt is going to stay.
At least on page 2 they warn you the art is going to be horrendous and they make sure to put fossy's name right there by the mangled mess that is supposed to be rarity.
Likely a lot. I imagine most of them are doing this for a paycheck. They get shit from both sides (Hasbro for not being kiddie enough, us for not being adult enough) so they're stuck writing pony comics for mid-low tier intelligence level.
I'm a comic book artist (hypothetically) I always wanted to draw, lets say Wolverine. But so does everyone else and I don't want to give up and get a real job so, I draw ponies. I don't like it. But it pays bills. And a quick trip to (wherever) with a free room because I'm a guest pays more bills. I don't like it but its better than working outside my field, making no connections, and being miserable.
I'm sure this is more typical than you think.
If the fans are literally paying your bills then you swallow your pride and do your best to keep them happy and pleased so the moneyflow wouldn't stop.
You don't get to shit on your customers and expect them to keep giving their money to you.
Yeah but what if your customers go into your store, tell you your place is shit, you're shit, you can't write/draw, you made a mistake on the labeling on one shelf, etc.
Even if they still hand you money when you're done, you're allowed to be a little bitter.
It's pretty fucking sad that it's cape or nothing with these artists.
What I don't get is that Fosgitt already has his own thing. So that really doesn't apply. It really is just con sketch bait for him.
I don't know, people were really supportive of the comics until they were beginning to really prove how bad they are. It's not like those complaints are unfounded. It got worse whrn they would start blocking people for not liking them.
And they actually bitch about fans being entitled. It's a two way street here. You're not entitled to my money, but if I give you it I am in fact entitled to a story that has effort put into it.
If one single customer does that I'll tell him to go fuck himself.
But if lots of customers do the same then it's probably me the one who's fucking things up and I need to get my shit toghether.
There's no excuse to victimize a bad artist unless you are a shill.
Reminder that this is one of the portfolio sketches Fosgitt gave to Bobby Curnow to get on the comics. And Curnow actually thought it was okay.
Also, he only gives a fuck if you give him money directly I guess.
Ten fucking seconds of a Google search. He'll do it when he is too lazy to draw a cutie mark but not when he's drawing a character he's never heard of?
Who works on a licensed comic, sees a character name they don't know, and then thinks "Oh I'll just draw something random?" Is that really how it works?
But why? Ten second Google search.
It seems like the writer had waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more restrictions than he did, she couldn't even mention a fucking zebra country or put in a zebra character without Hasbro saying no, and they demanded more explanation for Firegem.
Honestly the story was okay, with literally any artist but Fosgitt it would have been a solid 7/10. He's definitely the only artist that would have been arrogant enough not to look up characters I think.
He said that FF #1 was an experiment or something.
If you give him money he will show the maturity of a 15 year old sperg.
That actually doesn't look awful. There are hints of his bipedal tendencies with Pinkie, but generally they look just a little stylized. They probably never expected him to go full retard with his exaggerated "style".
Gee, it's almost like he got lazy when he knew he got on something that they'd never remove him from no matter what.
Seriously, someone needs to complain to Curnow on Twitter or something. This shit is just unacceptable. If IDW hates or is ashamed of the franchise and is trying to kill it, just give it up to another company that actually gives a fuck or something.
>Seriously, someone needs to complain to Curnow on Twitter or something.
People did that during Reflections, then during Ted's fuckup (both) then during Whitley's horrendous behaviour toward their paying customers and finally during the increasing fuckups present on the comics, which included Fosgitt's atrocious debut.
He never gave a fuck, and nothing will ever get unfucked as long Bobby Curnow still lives.
At this point they should just have a third series that's basically "Writer/Artist OC explosion" that allows them to get all of their self servicing autism out in stories without touching those icky actual show characters people care about.
Friends Forever should be about uncommon pairings of show characters. They should NEVER involve OCs.
You know, I'll let Fosgitt off, because he's just drawing in his style, as weird as it may be sometimes.
But whoever did this one is just fucking lazy.
So wait, this comic is basically someone coming back to a place they got kicked out of, and doing a shooting? Except with a ice gun instead of a gun gun? I'm surprised no one got triggered over that.
>It's a girl
Oh wait that's why.
>So wait, this comic is basically someone coming back to a place they got kicked out of, and doing a shooting?
Oh shit I never even thought of that, I was distracted by the emoticon and the Fluttershy recolor.
>Industrial strength hair-dryer I can't live without -
In case anyone didn't catch the reference.
I got so bored I didn't even finish reading it.
Fosgitt has been steadily getting WORSE, now they're EQG-esque abominations all the time, they're standing on two legs more often than not it feels.
Most of the designs are fucking awful, especially the OC's, it's got none of the show's charm and personality, and contrasts quite heavily to what the show taught us about griffons.
Gilda has a handful of really cute facial expressions though.
2 out of 10
This is one of the most boring MLP comics I've ever read. Fosgitt's artstyle still makes my eyes bleed, the story is clichéd as fuck and at the end we had to get some half-assed moral in a letter to fucking Princess Celestia?! (The Mane 6 haven't written letters to Princess Celestia since Season 3). It also weirdly reminds of me of Chicken Little, which is definitely not a good thing to be reminded of.
I think comparing it to the Vatican is closer, Crystal Empire is just one city-state, a few hundred square miles in size, and the surrounding areas are all Equestria.
Of course, now that one of Celestia's pets and the captain of her royal guard share the throne, they might as well be one and the same, not a thing happens in Crystal Empire without Celestia's knowledge and acceptance.
Because Katie Cook got the job for him.
Who cares about talent? The only thing that matters for IDW is who is your friend and how much power she can have to twist things on your favour.
Hey, faggots and /mlp/als.
I made another thing to use whenever we have another comic storytime and the same faggots of always drop by to shitpost, damage control and praise the unpraisable.
You are welcome.
