Previous Thread: https://desustorage.org/mlp/thread/25955630
>What is this?
This is a project that aims to actually create an album of music from /mlp/. It'll be a compilation of sorts, potentially containing everything from originals, remixes, collaborations, etc. The past efforts never came to fruition, so we're trying once again. If you create music, sing, rap, create art, write lyrics, have ideas, or just want to participate somehow, jump right in, and email firstname.lastname@example.org who you are, what you do, contact info (May include preferred email, YouTube, SoundCloud, ect), and anything else you want to say.
>What kind of music is the album going to contain?
Virtually anything is acceptable. This means complete originals, remixes, collaborations, soundscapes, etc.
Simply create a folder for your work within the proper folder within the Dropbox (more info in the Google Doc). For example, music goes in the music folder. Your folder will be used for sharing ideas, posting demos, etc. For your finished product, you may submit a mastered and/or unmastered WAV or AIFF, and simply drop it into your folder, indicating it's the final one.
>What about artwork?
Yes, we need artists as well for the album cover. Artwork will be submitted to the Dropbox in the same way as the music. Decisions on how which piece will be chosen will be arranged soon. Artwork for individual songs is possible for those that want it.
>I HAVE MOAR QUESTIONS
Then continue reading this → (https://docs.google.com/document/d/1qfmH6zOQ6U0TgOWiT8mkihmbKnjzLoYmHsawwl26W6A/edit#) document. If you still have questions, email email@example.com, or just ask in the thread.
Alrighty guys. I've got a new project in the works for this that I think we can have some fun with. I took to time to put together an instrumental cover of Van Halen's "Jump" and me and Sound guy re-wrote the lyrics. We've changed the "Jump" to "Bump" and all we need is some really simple submissions. We just need random anons for the "Bump!" shout similar to how "Jump!" is yelled in the original Van Halen tune. Tutorial to make it stupid proof: https://clyp.it/vktz2jql
• We need anons to submit somewhat high quality vocal clips of them yelling "BUMP"
• These submissions should be done through the dropbox in this folder. Please submit your files as WAV if possible!
(password for the dropbox is in the google doc for the people who don't already know)
• If any anons would be comfortable doing the main vocal part please let us know
• We need as many submissions as we can get. Your voice counts. Yes you. The one faggot fapping to worst pony.
FROM NOW ON, IF YOU WOULD WANT TO BUMP THIS THREAD, DO IT WITH YOUR VOICE!
Reposting what I posted last thread.
Messed about with MLP_PLAYS2 stems and made: http://vocaroo.com/i/s0LDYPdyk5zB
Also made http://vocaroo.com/i/s10Y8fO59W8j whilst a glitch in LMMS allowed me to detune farther than usual.
It's just a chiptune thing I did earlier redone as a MIDI thing.
I've still got guitar for MLP-PLAYS2 to do and maybe even a little bass vox for Dead Anon's.
I wonder how our cello friend(s) is(/are) doing...
>IF YOU WOULD WANT TO BUMP THIS THREAD, DO IT WITH YOUR VOICE!
I just can't do it, Captain!
I don't have the power!
Trying to stick to my word before I go for good.
Streets and Still Going MIDI and multi-tracks are in dropbox. My hardware isn't setup the same as it was when the songs were made, so some tracks are silent, but the MIDI is still there.
I also have something like 1.2~1.8GB of vocaroo or wav/mp3 clips from the early threads if you're interested. Just let me know, and I can upload them.
I wish I came aboard this project earlier on before you left because I was already late to the party, but now I'm sad about missing out on the great things you've done for the album. I just wanted to take the time to say thank you for your contributions to the album and godspeed on whatever you're gonna do next.
If you do have the space for it somewhere, upload them. Just for historical reasons, if anything. And someone could take some samples out of it at some point.
>messed about Plays2
I see what you're trying to do. Well... There is mixing technique which in some way resembles what you're was trying to do. It makes the vocals bigger. And it have to do with pitching and panning copies of vocals. Thing is, you need to do apply both of these things very slightly. I'm certainly not gonna use your version.
I like your chiptune thingy, but there's a very strange part starting from 0:55, bass is going crazy.
Much thanks. Wish you well.
UPDATES Part 4:
>Dead Anons song
Currently waiting on Wootmaster's drums and then Shellah's vocals.
Engie needs to right lyrics and sing? Another anon had ideas for this as well.
>Boom De Yada
Mixing right now
Harmonicafag/Cellofag cello piece. PDF here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/rdw5z6kkc64xdj1/untitled_29_2_Cello%20in%20C_One%20more%20time.pdf?dl=0
WIP Celestia Song
Dzahlus's cover thing. Mixing
Guitars are being finalized and recorded. Lyrics are done (I think). Needs some group vocals. Currently on hiatus, but not dead.
>mud pone punk song
Anoridan, ElectroCelloFag, and some others are thinking of making a raw punk song about the Earth Pony uprising
Anon made some lyrics. No music for it yet
>Horse music project
>Song for Lauren Faust
WIP Demo here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/qds8rmoj5mr2ixm/For%20Mom%20Update_Bridge.mp3?dl=0
>'cause you were a goddess
Composition basically done. Needs to be recorded.
>Sonate de le nuit
>Anon synth sound design
>Death Metal song
Anal Death is making a death metal song about cute ponies. All he needs is drums. Considering samples, if need be.
Anon started a thing. Now sure where to go with it.
Vote on album name: http://strawpoll.me/5852987
Some anon posted this voice, and then sexy music happened. Could use some brass and possibly sexy moaning as well. https://www.dropbox.com/s/m8z52shdn69z3l4/RainBlow%20DashDemo2.mp3?dl=0
Most recent WIP: https://www.dropbox.com/s/2g0qjpmllr1fhwl/Plays%202%20demo%2006.mp3?dl=0
Needs vocals, Sound Guy doing a solo thing, and waiting for any brass anon (trombone, sax, etc).
Needs extending. Structure ideas welcome. Any other ideas and contributions are welcome. Harmonica needs to redo his harmonica part.
Robotic Lolita Internet Bunny Princess (TwiFi) will be working on this. Will need contributions.
also new Anal Death update:
"Vocals are ready to record, gonna have to hold out a wee bit though. I haven't recorded anything in a long time, and when I dug up my old SM58 it was absolutely fucked. So I'm gonna have to buy a new one. I bought a set of 13-57 gauge strings so I should be good to go with guitar stuff soon. Just gotta write solos/breakdowns. I plan on proposing the project next practice and asking my band mates if they'll help me out."
Point out if I missed something
lot's of dead thread links there.
Where's the Luna song and "'cause you were a goddess?" Those sound cool and I'd like to see if I can collaborate on those but... location unknown.
There's a lot of rock in this album and I fucking love that. I'm gonna try to make something orchestral or piano-driven for you guys.
Back! Back, I say!
>I see what you're trying to do
>There is mixing technique which in some way resembles what you're was trying to do
That is definitely not what I was going for.
I just wanted to add harmonies. For the sake of it.
That said, what you're describing there... sounds a lot like a chorus effect.
>I'm certainly not gonna use your version
I didn't intend it on being used, it's nothing more than a curiosity.
Besides, my mixing's shoddy 'n' all.
>I like your chiptune thingy
>there's a very strange part starting from 0:55
...all the way to 2:50, I'm guessing?
>bass is going crazy
I think the word you're looking for is... funky!
Or at least I think that's what it is.
I have my doubts whether it's actually possible to perform what I arranged, nevermind it's repetitiveness.
Currently preparing the files and whatnot for Flutterchan (Shellah) for her final vocal parts in the dead anons song. Lexi also wants to add some gentle nylon guitar bits at the end with the piano. That'll happen later.
Can anyone here provide some gentle, lovely piano sounds if asked, either recorded or from some sound library?
I can write the piano part and then someone else here could produce it for a song I'm working on. I thought I'd ask here before looking for someone in the google doc.
I can rednder it pretty good, throw it in.
It may take a few days though since i have no access to my studio computer right now.
>Harmonica needs to redo his harmonica part
Consider it done, alas without reverb or anything I was using when I first did the recording.
Got a delivery of two sound files for a Mr "Plays2", here!
This one's got acoustic guitar for between 0:30 and 0:50:
And... this one's acoustic guitar for the end:
And this one's on the house: https://www.dropbox.com/s/j2dcpihjmz1u6pe/P2_2%20-%20Harmonising%20vox%20attempt.wav?dl=0
Do you want me to shout it along with the song, or just once? Because if the latter, I did it and I uploaded a tiny wav.
I'd like to see the lyrics as well.
Also, isn't your cover slower than the original? >https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/s/y480anw7t07s8wp/Jump%20cover.mp3
Unrelated, summoning Anoridan: are you definitively done with the bass for plays2? I'll be away for a few months by the end of next week
Anoridan may be a while.
Two more hours, at least.
Yeah, i guess so. Everything's fine, so take your time. I hope we'll finish Plays 2 by the time of your return so i'll hope you'll like what you'll hear when you'll come back! Enjoy your trip or whatever you're planning!
By the way.
I am summoning ANAL DEATH
We talked with SG a while ago and no one of us couldn't remember if you ever posted some kind of demo for your song.
Did you posted it and we missed it? Or you didn't?
If not, can you show us what do you have? We're curious.
Some time around the start of December I barged into this thread and called you all faggots for circlejerking this thread for so long. I wanted to prove that board appropriate music could be made quickly and decently (if not quite to your standards), by covering certain songs and parodying the lyrics of others.
To that end I resolved to produce an album of my own before the end of the year.
>Implying any musical knowledge
>Implying I could hold a tune let alone sing
>Implying I could mix the tracks
>Implying I'd be able to fit this around a busy work schedule
>Implying family drama wouldn't be an issue either
>Implying I wouldn't die of stress
Well I didn't produce an album like I said I would. But then again, I didn't keel over and die
Instead, I spent a fair amount of time producing a demo recoding that I'm happy enough to share in order to prove my point:
Have some cute horses as an apology
Single-handedly making an album? No
I did get the offer of input from someone else and I've got a demo he made independently for the project, but I'm not sure if he's ok with putting it out there yet.
Feedback would be appreciated.
I'm still holding you cunts accountable for taking ages to make anything when /v/ makes several album every year for the last 3 years now
>for taking ages
never fear, it will be released soon.
But as you can see, a lot of people dissappeared as time goes by. Also i guarantee that there's more people in /v/ that can contribute than here, in /mlp/.
Also, you already said it here >>26031421 some things that could delay the release.
Yeah, July I believe you said. And now you're suggesting further possible delays.
>Implying this won't be released in Valve time :^)
God damn guys, even Seeds of Kindness does better! And they usually only give a few months notice - you've had years.
So I'm still going to set up something for the board so we can churn out a shitty fun album. Oh, and I'll probably be using that copy of Boom De Yada (perhaps with a few more voices) as one of the tracks if you don't publish first
>"Also, you already said it here >>26031421 (You) some things that could delay the release."
>Implying I'm the one with dyslexia
I've already released my single. I don't have anything else and right now I have no deliberate plans to make more.
ERGO, the only release that could be delayed by the factors I've suggested is yours.
Quadrat Erat Demonstrandum
>Letting a bunch of genuine basement dwelling obese motherfuckers make better music faster
I mean, ok, if that's what you want, I suppose we can say that they're superior to us...
Personally I've made around 40 tracks if not more since participating in the album.
Doing what you said would be a dick move, and what someone on amphetamines would do, stop making it obvious before the police knock.
I wish I had drugs too, but Idk about anything else.
>Using tracks produced by us in his, i quote, "shitty album", whether we like it or not
U CUNT WOT
Are u fucking serious, m8? Momma didn't tell you that stealing is bad, you worthless piece of miserable shit? Yes, i get that art made by whole board should belong to the whole board, but you should respect the only fucking people who gave a lot of energy to /mlp/ album!
You can hate us.
You can say that we're lazy assholes, it's not like i care anyway.
But you do not touch our work, you retard! Make yourself a name on this board with your own music!
Right now even Dzahlus sounds better than you. And technically he does exactly what you do, he takes other's people music (which technically is stealing too, but we let that slip) and he slaps his singing on it, so your concept is not even lower as an idea than some of our tracks, it's just his FAME i'm starting mixing right now sounds better even if i won't touch it at all.
You are a fucking child, that's who you are. You have a lot of pride and no fucking brains.
Oh shit man, didn't see that. My friend Kane mixed me up a drum track. Where do I put it? Here's the dropbox link but I don't use G Drive.
Nice. How the rest of the song going?
You mean i should use this name if we will make a collab? Well, i'm fine with Anordan but this is a nice suggestion, alright.
Slowly is the short answer I'm afraid. Still trying to find the perfect riff. Death metal is a lot harder then I thought and it ain't getting much easier as time goes on. Lyrics are finished but constantly being modified. I originally wrote it so that I was just spouting bullshit like insulting your waifu and making glimmer references but now I want it to actually be about something. I'm thinking an absurdly gory thing about /b/ getting into Equestria with filly rape stuff everywhere. Other then that I'm slowly chugging along. Don't have much free time on my hands and I writefag on the side so that comes first. But I'm hoping to get it done around May
Hey, nice. I'm sure that "/b/ in Equestria" scenario will find it's fans. Feel free to ask help if you'll run late - now that clock's started ticking everything is geting so fast, y'know. We were agreed on deadline in late november - and look at this, it's already January. Slowpone.jpg At least we're getting somewhere withthese collaborations. Even Lexi is back. TwiFi i mean.
Oh and there's my actual band (Ripponvale) who need my attention as well since Reagan wants to start writing the first album. I told him that I'd have to finish this first though and he understood kinda. Was a little miffed but fuck him.
Yeah. We're with my partner kinda on hiatus with our own album too.
It'll be interesting to manage finishing this album and our own at the same time.
All work and no sex makes Anoridan a dull boy, eeehh.
First the lyrics were public domain, written collectively by the entire board - they're entitled to that intellectual property.
Second, my voice is on the recording, affording me partial rights to the intellectual property as well.
Finally, it's public domain. So frankly, anyone is free to do with it whatever they will so long as they don't falsely claim they created it or attempt to monetize it.
Frankly I don't see the problem here.
As for parody lyrics - hasn't Weird Al Yankovic been doing that for years? Legally? Parody is classed as fair use and IS something you can profit from.
Now granted, I can't really hold a tune or sing, but I take issue with you calling me a child when you're throwing such a tantrum now.
It's not like you're going to charge money for the album, are you?
If you are I'll have to withdraw, but do you really want that reputation?
The fact that you want to take one of the songs we've been working hard on and put it on a "shitty fun" album is slap in the face. Why don't you start your own thread with your own music instead of taking our work and badmouthing us.
Jesus Christus. You're talking exactly on the same lines as my father when he found out about the album with legal shit 'n' whatnot.
You're right: this is all public domain, as far as I'm aware, and money won't be charged.
Legally, you can, but it'd be a really shitty thing to do to beat us to the punch.
The Boom De Yada thing was originally from /mlp/ sings but that died of death when Songfag upped and left without a word.
You come to us.
>YOU'RE LAZY ASSHOLES!!!!111!!!
>I CAN DO THINGS FASTER!!!111! I'll do my own album with blackjack and hookers!
>Oh wait. I can't do it. But i did this shitty demo.
>But since i can't admit that i was wrong i'm gonna continue to be stupid and, btw,
>i'm gonna take some of your projects and will release them before you to look less stupid.
Just think about what you trying to do! And stop being a retard and come work with us. Your work will take a few more months and will sound much better. Maybe.
>telling your father you're gonna be on a pony album.
Golden. My parents don't particularly care what I achieve musically, so I wouldn't even discuss the more respectable things my music has been licensed too.
Not that this isn't respectable, it's non-profit, which to my parents is probably the same thing.
My whole goal has been to beat you to the punch and it hasn't been hard.
The intention wasn't to sound fantastic- that's your job and you're damn good at it. It was just to make something fun that anybody could be involved in, in order to make an album for the board a-la /v/
I'm a dick for calling you assholes. But I'm not wrong for saying you're achingly slow and I don't apologise for that.
I guess me mentioning Boom De Yada might just be me trying to light a fire under your arses to push results. I will certainly have it on whatever I can produce with the help of a few other anons, but with hindsight it won't be your current version.
>Come join us in beauocracy
Unless you're offering cut price singing lessons on a flexible schedule, I'm going to have to decline. I didn't make an album in a hectic 2 weeks, but I DO want to see this thing through.
I'm with >>26037410, why on earth would you tell your family about this kind of thing? I mean sorry to strike a nerve and all, but sometimes being honest means knowing when not to be
Frankly I think he should just leave. He blew his chance when he shat on the project, then dug the sixth inch when he threatened to steal somebody else's work because he lacks any and all talent. He can go make his own shitty album which'll likely just be 4 slightly sped up Wooden Toaster songs.
And i will certainly come to your thread and i will comment there about where did you get this particular song and who exactly should be thanked for fixing up A FUCKTON of shitty records.
At that point, i'd like you to crawl back to that shithole you came from and never, never come to this thread again.
Jesus Christ, who shoved a stick up your ass?
I just said I probably won't be using the version you mixed together.
Feel free to contribute to the thread or shitpost as you wish - it's not like the mods will stop you. And credit goes to /mlp/ for the lyrics and you for inspiring a newer mixing - as well as anyone who lends their voice or instrumental tallents
>telling your father you're gonna be on a pony album
No, he went through my browsing history. Didn't look far otherwise he'd've found loads of pony porn to boot.
>Parent-o-vision: non-profit = not respectable
Our parents would get along well.
>My whole goal has been to beat you to the punch and it hasn't been hard
Fella, when we started, we had the following within two days:
and this was said:
>/mlp/: pumping out better music in two days than most brony musicians do in a month
By the time this album gets done, it shall have been a little less than two years since that was said. Stuff has happened, people come and go, things have slowed down but we're still working, even on that song.
If you think you're making us work faster, think again: I'm a NEET and real life problems stop me from working faster than I am now.
Just... go and do your own thing. Please.
>Whoever lends you any kind of help
Good luck fag, if you're not looking to rough this on your own we're your best bet. Also if I see that thread imma sage it like a Caesar salad.
Christ, I'm so sorry. Overbearing parents are always a bitch at the best of times. Hang in there though, ok? Shit has to get better once you're free and have your own place.
I realise now that nothing I say here will ever improve shit nor make amends for prior misgivings.Seriously though man, hope things get better for you real soon.
>Sage in salad
>Also, "sa-juh" rather than "sah-gay"
Just the kind of newthink I'm worried about.
Goodbye and goodluck to you all
It seems like this thread lives up to it's name.
I'm so fucking tired of this.
New WIP I went ahead and put on youtube because why not: https://youtu.be/plZAS3G-XlY I don't do originals that I can share publically right away very often.
