"I'm liking the idea of punching until something happens."
"Alright Halley, Halley's dad, let's get this thing set up so you can start punching."
>"W-wait! You aren't going to look at the engine first?"
"I guess you're right. Hey Tarin, is this engine hooked up to anything?"
She digs around in the heap of parts.
>"I can hook up the engine to this thing I think."
Spark calls from her desk.
>"Zat iz a prototype lightnink gun! It lets ponies who are not pegazi or unicorns make lightnink. It took too much power, never vorked, zo it iz trash."
>"Why would you make a lightning gun?"
>"Vat kind ov qvestion is zat?"
>"I can hook it up to this thing."
You walk over to Halley and her parents. Halley is doing some stretches. You speak to her mother.
"So, are they all ready?"
>"Almost. He hits better when he's unrestricted."
She motions for Halley's father to come to her. He walks over and kneels as she takes off his coat and shirt.
>"No go show that inanimate object who's boss."
He picks up Halley and plops her on his back. He then starts to do pushups while Halley counts. Lily walks over to you two.
>"How'd he get that scar?"
>"Hmm? Oh, he got that from me."
>"Oh dear! Was there an accident?"
>"Wha? Hah! No, that was from when we first met. He was sent to try and kill me by these other pirates."
>"Ahhhh, what a first date."
Lily laughs nervously.
Tarin calls to you.
>"We're all set up here!"
"Great. Are you guys ready?"
Halley's dad gives you a thumbs up.
"Alright. Let's see how this works!"
Halley's Dad reels back.
You get a tap on your shoulder. It's her mom
>"You might want to get behind something."
You feel like an earthquake just pasesd through you and into the ground. A blinding light fills the room. Just as you're about to duck behind cover, you're hit with a blast of sound and energy.
It's really hot.
You shut your eyes and hope it ends soon.
The dust settles.
>"Whoo, that's quite the right hook."
She forcefully pats you on the back and you cough up some dust.
>"Y'all right there?"
The others pop up from behind some scorched boxes. Various oos and ahhs fill the room.
Deinna walks up to the gun.
Halley's mom pokes it as bits of it fall apart.
>"Oooh, sorry there Spark. Didn't mean to break your-"
The dirty looking mare is climbing over boxes to get to Halley's dad.
>"You vere abel to power ze ENGINE!"
He grunts in a satisfied manner.
>"But HOW?! Ve had tried EVERYZING!"
Halley jumps onto her dad's back.
>"Yeah, everything but us."
You look up at the now sizeable hole in the roof.
"Uhh, we can probably fix that for you."
>"Eet iz NO MATTER. Vat matters iz zat you got ze engine to vork. Vat is ze secret to your power?"
He points to his tattoos.
She crawls over him. She pokes at his tattoos, frantically measuring them, staring at them and even sniffing them.
>"Vat are zese markings?"
Grace walks up to her and reveals her arm.
>"They're tattoos that enhance the powers of a stave."
>"Ah stave? You mean zose silly magic things?"
>"I see. MORTEMER!"
A large parasprite-looking thing flies over to her.
>"Zee if you can find any of these staves in ze varehouse. Zen report back to me."
It gives a little salute then zips away.
While Spark pries Halley and her parents for information, the pegasus mare that took you there walks up to you.
>"I didn't expect that."
"Yup. I don't know what it is about them, but they're all scarily strong."
>"So, do you think this will be able to move the city?"
"I think it will."
>"But... what happens after that? We're still going to help the Ark with it's fuel, but what happens after that? Will you still help us fix our engine?"
So, if I got this right, the techno city didn't try staves because they're averse to magic?
But of course it took the stave to kinda get the engine running.
Yet it's not like you don't have staves, since you just said they were in the warehouses.
"Look, it could be a while until we find a solution, and we really need to fix the larger problem here."
Her head droops a bit.
You quietly groan to yourself.
"Is... does the engine really need to be fixed? You guys have been here for a while and you seem to be doing fine. The only difference is that you'd be in a different spot."
>"Well, a lot of the city's functions rely on the extra power. If we needed to defend ourselves, all we have are our small defenses."
"But other than that? I doubt anything would try to attack you with the hurricane around the city."
You look down.
"I'm sorry. But if nothing else comes up, we're not going to be able to stick around. We need to fix Deinna's mess."
The elen's ears perk up.
>"MY mess? Nononono, this is YOUR mess. I was just trying to prevent it."
Tarin rolls her eyes and scoffs.
>"I'm sorry, is there something you'd like to say?"
>"Oh no, I'm just wondering how a bunch of misfits were able to thwart your big plan."
>"OH. WELL I DON'T SEE YOU GOING AROUND TRYING TO STOP ANCIENT POWERS FROM RISING BACK UP AGAIN."
>"YEAH, MAYBE IF I KNEW ABOUT IT I WOULD HAVE! Ever thought of THAT?"
>"THAT'S JUST IT! YOU ALL THINK THEY'RE JUST FAIRY TALES OR A SCARY STORY BUT THEY AREN'T! IF YOU JUST LIFTED YOUR NOSES FROM THE DIRT YOU'D SEE THAT"
>"Oh boy here we GO. YOU ELEN ARE ALL THE SAME. YOU THINK YOU'RE SOOOOO MUCH BETTER THAN ANYONE ELSE WHILE YOU HIDE OUT IN THE FOREST. WELL I DON'T REMEMBER ANYONE COMING TO WARN US ABOUT ANYTHING! MAYBE THAT WOULD HAVE HELPED!"
>"OH YEAH? WELL-"
The both are staring daggers at you.
"Could you PLEASE not start fighting now? We have bigger things to worry about."
Tarin crosses her arms and looks away from Deinna.
>"She started it."
>"Why you little-"
>"And what's all this about now? Why can't you all just go get their damn crystal? You know where it is."
Breeze's ears perk up.
>"Do you honestly not know."
You look at Nina and Lily. They both shrug.
>"Breeze, what can a storm crystal do?"
>"Oh uhhh, it can power magical engines for one, but I thin I've read that if it's used by someone, it can give them some kind of power."
>"And what kind of powers are those?"
>"Well, if I recall, you can release lightning from your body, and I think you can kinda freeze things? I don't really know to be honest."
>"Now, I want you to think really hard ab-"
Lily claps her hooves together.
Deinna points to Lily.
>"See? She got it."
"Wait, but we killed him."
>"Alright, if I killed you, would that mean your gun would be destroyed too? Or your stave?"
"Well, the gun no, but I don't know a lot about staves."
>"The answer is no. It wouldn't."
Lily scratches her head.
>"So, the crystal is back in Dust Valley? We can't just go back, can we? That'd take too long."
>"Use your head. You have that book. Len is in there. A very powerful spirit. He's already saved you all before for some reason. He can get you there and back."
Breeze looks at you.
>"C-can you really do that?"
"I-maybe? He's teleported us once but the question is if he can do it again."
>"Of course he can."
"Wait, if you knew all of this before, why didn't you just tell us"
>"You didn't know that the book could teleport?"
"No we did, I meant the crystal. Why didn't you tell us where it was? And don't say no on-"
>"No one asked me."
>"See what I mean?"
>"Do you like planes of misery? I can send you to one you know."
>"Blah blah blah keep on yapping."
You look at Deinna again.
"Okay, so how do we go about this?"
>"So that means you'll do it?"
"I have no idea if it'll work, but it's worth a shot. We could have done this earlier if Deinna just told us."
>"Oh what, you too?"
"I dunno, but maybe if you put a sign in your little room saying 'Worldending ancient evil locked in my basement', it might have helped prevent your mess."
You smirk at her.
You didn't think she could look angrier.
"Okay, so what do we do first?"
She talks through gritted teeth.
>"Why don't you ask him."
You pull out the book.
"So I just ask him? He didn't really talk before."
>"Couldn't hurt ta try."
In for a penny, in for a pound.
Bro work on your timings. its fun to frustrate her but we need her to still be co-operative. You have to let it slide for a bit so tensions drop, then you go in again.
You place your hoof on the book.
You look up.
>implying I haven't read SubQuest
You prance up the path until you reach the top. There's a small chime in the air.
It's kind of eerie.
>"Are you coming?"
A voice catches you off guard.
You peek around the corner.
A being is sitting in the center of the area. It waves it's arm to you.
You walk up to it slowly.
As you get closer, another seat is formed next to you.
>"You may sit if you'd like."
You sit in the "chair". It's surprisingly comfortable despite looking like rocks.
He just looks at you in silence.
What do you say?
Start off with general questions. No need to send us off to Sejor's body yet.
What is this place? Are we really here? Like, is our body gone from where we were? For that matter, what's time like here?
Does he know Sejor Rafai? Arit? Is there anything he can tell us about his brother or anyone else who may be involved in what's going on?
"Um, where is this place?"
>"This is my world."
"Wait, am I actually here? Or is my body here too?"
>"Your conscience is here. Your body is still where you left it."
"So I look like I'm just sitting there? How different is time here?"
>"Time is slowed for you. When you go back, it will be only a few moments passing."
"Okay. Well, I guess we should introduce ourselves. I am-"
"Uh, yeah. You must be Len, right?"
>"You are correct."
"Do you mind if I ask some questions?"
>"I do not."
"Okay. Is there anything you can tell me about what's going on?"
>"You will need to be more specific."
"Do you know Sejor Rafai?"
>"I do not."
"But you teleported us away from him."
>"I sensed the evil in him. Had I not intervened, you would have died."
"What about your brother?"
>"Leo was doomed from the beginning. Hatred will destroy even the mightiest of beings."
"Alright, how about Arit. Did you know him?"
>"I do not recall ever meeting a spirit named Arit, however I have learned of his existence."
"So you don't really know anything?"
>"It is in my nature to not become involved in the affairs of spirits or the living. They are selfish, and would try and use my powers for their gain. You are like them, but your cause is just. That is why I will help you."
"So there's nothing you can tell me about what's going on?"
>"I am sorry that I cannot help you in that regard. However..."
He looks up.
>"The one with the mask, who controls the hordes and the giants... stay away from him."
"Do you know him?"
>"I only know his presence, although I wish I did not. If you value your life, avoid him at all costs."
"Uh, thanks for the heads up, but that's not really why I'm here."
>"I am aware. You wish to return to the remains of the one known as Sejor Rafai, correct?"
"Yes. Will you be able to take me?"
>"I will. You may bring two if that is what you wish. If you have no more questions, you will be sent to your body. From there, you may use the book."
"Is this a one time deal? Or would you be willing to help us in the future?"
>"You yourself may use the book whenever you like, so long as it is not for selfish or evil reasons. It will take more power for you to take others with you."
"How does it work?"
>"You must clear your mind, and become as calm as you can. You must imagine where you wish to go, and focus only on that. You may only travel to a place that you have already been. If you attempt to go somewhere that you have not, I do not know where you will be sent."
"That seems a bit too easy. Last time we teleported somewhere, we were knocked unconscious."
>"That is because I was the one who sent you. You were not calm, and you were not prepared. The more beings you try to move at one time, the higher the strain on your physical bodies."
"Well, why didn't you come forward before?"
>"I didn't know if I could trust you. Even now I am putting much faith into you."
"Alright. What about you? Is there anything you want from me?"
>"At the moment no. If I require something, I will ask you, however I will not force you to do anything."
You look at the book.
"What's the limit?"
"To your power? You said only two for now."
>"When you are sent, the most you will suffer is perhaps a mild headache at most. As I said, the more beings you send at once, the higher the strain. However if you learn to condition yourself and train the power, you may be able to send more without the drawbacks."
"You can do that?"
"Well, alright I suppose. Thank you."
>"You are welcome."
"Oh, one more thing."
"My stave, it has a spirit named Gary. Could I summon him here?"
"Like, is that a 'no, it's impossible?' or a-"
>"It is impossible. Perhaps one more in tune to the spirit world would be able to, but not you."
You sit in a kind of awkward silence for a few moments.
Is there anything else you wanted to say?
"Sooo, I think I'm ready to lea-"
Wow, it is really bright.
You shut your eyes and wince.
Nina taps you.
>"Ya alright there?"
"Yeah, just readjusting."
>"So it worked?"
You blink a few times as your sight gets back to normal.
>"What'd he say?"
"He said we could use his power to go back."
Breeze clops her hooves in excitement.
"Only three of us can go, myself included."
"Yeah. Something about it being a strain on our bodies if too many go at once."
>"So, who're ya thinkin on takin?"
We should ask Lily to make us some potions to help us stay undetected. I would like to make this mission as fast as possible without getting into a lot of brawls.
We might end up outnumbered now that Dust valley's been taken over.
"Hmmm, I think you should come."
>"Well alright. Ya c'n count on me."
You tap your chin a few times.
You point at Deinna.
>"Me? Why do I have to go?"
"You'd come in handy."
>"Yeah, I would. But why do I HAVE to go?"
>"Figures she wouldn't want to do anything."
>"Oh that's it-"
A tiny hoof is being waved at Tarin.
Flo plops down in front of her.
>"You shouldn't be so mean to someone just because they made a mistake. Everyone makes mistakes, even me! If you're always mean to people, you won't make any friends because everyone will think you're a butt."
Tarin shifts for a moment before turning around.
Flo hops back to Deinna.
>"Have fun on your trip!"
The elen looks down at the tiny riverpony. She speaks under her breath.
"Uh, alright. Are we all ready to go?"
>"Just get on with it."
You place your hoof on the book.
Alright. Let's think about where he was. It was just outside of Crevice Town, and it was sandy. It's day out, so it'd be sunny. His body turned into a big pile of rocks and grass.
Okay. Just picture yourself there.
You stop thinking about other things. Just the place.
A blue mist starts to emanate off the book. It swirls around the three of you. You feel extremely light, and floaty.
Suddenly, a huge flash of light blinds you, and everything fades.
We should use this opportunity to mess with Dienna about her relationship with Flo.
If she starts getting angry
and she willjust say that we're jealous and she's very lucky to have such a cute girlfriend.
A warm breeze flows past you.
You hear some birds chirping.
Opening your eyes, you see that the book worked.
>"Well, we're here."
A mound of rocks sits just ahead. It looks like tall grass has been growing all over them. One area to the left has a higher concentration of the grass.
What do you do?
I guess we should search the mound with the higher concentration of grass first. It will probably be quicker to investigate because it has less rubble in it. Maybe its reacting to the magic storm stone.
Then if we find nothing move on the other mound of rocks.
And I guess we could use this down time while we're searching for small talk with the group.
time to hit on Nina.
Also try this.
This is a strange idea but it's worth a shot before we go wandering
Is it possible to search through rubble quietly? if so we should do that, we don't know if there's anything hostile left around here.
Also make sure we find time to hit on Nina, probably stop short of mutual masturbation this time though.
We can always do both anon.
>probably stop short of mutual masturbation this time though.
Perhaps we should try a more sentimental approach and that way if we get cut short Nina might want to resume the conversation later on the ship.
"Well, alright Deinna. You're up."
"Y'know. You can sense where spirit stuff is, right?"
>"You just assumed that I could sense spirit energy? Why, because I'm Elen?"
She huffs a bit, but eventually she closes her eyes. Her head lowers, almost as if she's using her antlers as a dowsing rod of sorts.
She points to the area where there's the higher grass concentration.
You shrug and the three of you head down the dunes.
"So uh, how's your relationship with Flo working out?"
You raise your eyebrows and smirk at her.
>"We aren't in-"
"Hey, don't sweat it. You're real lucky to have such a cute special somepony."
"Oh look, we're here."
You stand at the edge of the tall grass. It's just about as tall as you., which makes it a bit hard to see through it.
"You can still sense it right?"
>"Of course I can."
"Do you want to take the lead? We can follow you."
She trots into the grass, with you and Nina close behind.
You match pace with Nina.
>"Where do ya think all this grass came from?"
"Honestly? I have no idea. But I'm sure it's something to do with spirit magic."
>"Yeah. Yer probably right. So, why'd ya pick me ta come back here? If we're gonna be lookin' through rocks n boulders, wouldn't Halley 'ave been a better choice?"
I gotta head off now, but I'll try and get on earlier tomorrow. Sorry for the short session. See you all tomorrow!
If we get rushed by more spirits than we can handle spitting fire is more likely to keep them far enough back while I get us out of here than punching is. And with the spirits overwhelming the continent that's a possibility anywhere.
I wasn't thinking about looking through rocks and boulders, I was thinking about possibly having to fight more monsters. Sure Halley's a great fighter, but fire wins in range and crowd control.
Err...the part about the boulders actually slipped my mind. Oops.
I was expecting more fights and your fire would have been handy for making an escape. But this place is surprisingly calm.
I guess I must have assumed the rubble was going to be more spread out because of the huge battle.
But on the bright side I'll have a cute mare to talk to while I brake a sweat so the extra work won't be all bad. Besides we've been through alot and I'd rather have nobody else by my side.
>But on the bright side I'll have a cute mare to talk to while I brake a sweat so the extra work won't be all bad.
Whisper that in to Ninas's wouldn't want to distract Deinna when she's leading the way.
"Maybe, but you've got fire. If we get rushed, you're better at crowd control. Ranged attacks are more likely to keep something far back enough while I use the book better than punching is."
>"Well sure, but 'ow are we gonna get tha rocks out of tha way? Ahm good at that kinda stuff, but if ya need tha thing underneath, I'm not the lass fer tha job."
"Don't worry about that. I can clear that stuff. It'll be hard work, but I can do it."
You lean in close to her ear.
"On the bright side, I'll have a cute mare to talk to while I work, so it's not all bad."
She looks the other way.
>"Haha. Very funny."
"I'm being serious. Besides, we've been through a lot, and I'd rather have nobody else by my side."
>"Heh, yer just tryin' ta be nice."
"What, it's that hard to think someone cares about you." Give her a wink and a smile.
"Anyway with things as they are they're wouldn't be any point in lying now."
Blush hard fruit flank.
"Believe what you want, but it's true. You're a sweet mare. On top of that, you're brave and strong, and you don't back down when there's a challenge. Not a lot of poines can attest to that."
>"Heh, ah guess. Thanks, Fruity."
>"Are you two quite done? We can only take back three ponies. We don't need you two making more."
You both snicker.
>"Us two can't compare ta you though. Don't ya know how many eggs a fish lays each time?"
She turns back and glares at you two, eliciting more chuckling.
You all continue walking through the grass.
>"So, 'ow much farther, Deinna?"
>"Not much. Just a few more mi-"
"A few more minutes?"
She stands in silence, her ears twitching up and down.
You and Nina brace yourselves.
>"One behind, two on our sides. Approaching fast. There's on ahead, but it's moving away from us."
What do you do?
Ask Dienna if she thinks they've spotted us.
If so, go defensive, and have Nina start charging for a fireblast.
If not, then hunker down and let them pass. We'd rather not attract attention if we don't have to.
"Nina, start charging up. I'm going to see if they're hostile."
>"Alright. Be careful."
You buzz up your wings and hover above the grass line.
You can't see them.
Something bursts from the grass and flies towards you.
What do you do?
For some reason we made ourselves visible without adding any visibility instead of flying up high enough to actually see anything and not get caught by surprise when something jumps at us from below.
Your heart begins to beat faster. Adrenaline pumps through you.
Your body does many things at once, faster than you thought you could.
The wings on your back stop flapping, and you begin to fall back to the ground. At the same time, you transform your hoof into a claw, making it grow larger than normal and you shove it into the monster's mouth. You feel something vulnerable and grab onto it. The creature instinctively pushes you away with it's talons. Your carapace hardens slightly, causing only minor cuts on your face.
For a brief moment, you feel a sharp pain in your head. The pain from trying to transform too much at once.
You fall back into the grass and it softens the hit. The creature runs wildly around you, flattening the grass in the process. As it scampers away, it leaves a path heading out of the grass.
Nina pokes through the grass.
She rushes over to you, Deinna following suit.
>"Are ya hurt?!"
"A little, but I'm alright."
What do you do now?
We need to keep moving, the faster we get out of here the better.
I just thought about this, but there's no timer cooldown on the teleport is there?
Could we be precise enough with it to teleport right to the place we need to dig?
Don't get comfortable yet people there's at least two more that were heading right for us.
Based on the direction the one jumped us from, there's a likely another one to the opposite side of us and the one from the rear.
no his dad was a earth pony...also his shapeshifting powers are a bit limited, it's too hard for him to change his sex and he can't hold a full transformation for too long, if I remember correctly.
He has to be all-powerful. God forbid if Nips were to give anyone weaknesses that would make it impossible for them to defeat their enemies. Nope, it is Nips' #1 rule that they MUST be able to defeat every foe they encounter and never die permanently.
The organ you ripped out of the creature's mouth begins to bubble and fizz. Soon it's a pile of bloody goop.
You think fast.
"Deinna, can you tell where the others are?"
>"That little stunt put the other two behind us, but I don't think they'll stay there for long."
"What about the one ahead of us?"
>"Still moving ahead."
"Alright. Which way do we need to go?"
She points her hoof into the grass.
>"The same way the one ahead of us is going."
>"Not very. We could get there quick if we ran."
Nina looks around.
>"If ahm honest, Ah'd rather deal with one than two."
Maybe you could try and teleport to the place we need to be, but you'd need the others to distract the monsters long enough to use the book.
The path of cleared grass leads out of the field and into open space. That could be useful.
What do you do?
I say we go the rest on foot and run. But we should take out the rifle if we have it on us.
Besides we'll just end up needing to hold the fort later anyhow for the warp so we might as well do it when we're at our goal and have our stone.
You pull your gun out and place it around your neck.
"Let's run towards the crystal and deal with the things after. We'll need to hold the fort down while I use the book, so we might as well do it while we have the crystal."
They both nod.
You all take off. The grass slaps against your face as you run towards the crystal. You see a figure in a clearing up ahead. It must be the other monster.
"I see it. Get ready!"
>"You got it!"
You pull up your rifle and skid into the clearing.
"TAKE IT O-"
I don't who this lady is but a knife isn't going to help her with what's behind us.
If the stone is here tell Deinna to keep looking so we know where the best place is to start digging is. We'll handle this person and deal with the if they come back monsters to buy her sometime.
"Oh. Sorry, I though you were a monste-"
A rocks hits you in the head.
She picking up rocks and pelting them at you.
"What's that for? We're not gonna hurt you!"
>"S-STAY BACK! I HAVE ROCKS!"
"Listen! We're not-"
Another barrage of rocks.
>"I-I-I know what you are! Y-you're p-ponies right?! I know what you do-"
A burst of fire jets out in front of her.
>"Calm down, lass. N' stop throwing rocks."
"Thank you Nina."
>"Ah'll keep an eye on her."
You walk up to Deinna.
"Where are they?"
>"They're coming up fast. One next to the other."
You shape your arm into something sharp and pointy.
"Tell me where. We're gonna get them with their own momentum."
>"You really are insane aren't you?"
She positions your arm towards a spot in the grass.
>"What about the other one?"
Throw up a shield as late as you can. Once it's stopped drop the shield and shoot it with my gun. Nina should also blast it with fire. Hopefully at that point the other one will already be impaled and dying.
Imo the most important thing to do is arrest their momentum.
Switch out Deinna and Nina. Have Deinna watch whoever this is to make sure she doesn't stab our backs while we and Nina watch out for monsters.
Wait for them to come out and attack when they do.
Let's NOT have Nina blast it with fire.
"Hmm... Deinna, watch over... uh, her."
The Elen walks over to Nina.
She nods and heads over to you.
>"So, what's tha plan?"
"Alright, I think I remember seeing these things in Halley's book. They're pretty resistant to fire."
"But, they ARE sensitive to bright lights. Can you still do the flare thing?"
>"A'course ah can."
"Alright. When I tell you, I want you to make it as bright as possible."
Magic pools around her horn.
>"Just tell me when."
You look into the grass. You can't see anything.
Suddenly, you notice the faintest movement further back.
For the next few moments, you can't see anything. You thrust your arm forward, and feel a heavy impact, then a warmth flow down your arm. A leathery thump is heard from behind you, and you swivel around. Trying to focus on changing your arm into a type of shield only meets with a sharp pain in your head. You hold up your arm, still pointy and sharp, hoping for some sort of defense.
Another impact, and more warm liquids.
Everything goes white.
You hear the sound of Nina's magic wear off, and you open your eyes slowly.
The two corpses of the monsters are sizzling away.
"Sheesh. Is everyone okay?"
Deinna coughs as she struggles to pick herself up.
>"Damn thing hit me with it's tail. So I'm less good."
You and Nina rush to her.
"Do you feel anything broken?"
>"No. It's probably just some bruising. Let's just get-"
She turns to where the figure was.
Deinna grunts as she lays back on some rocks. She points to some to your right.
>"Just dig there. You'll find it. Let's get what we came here for and leave."
You make some claws to move the rocks. With the help of your stave, it's a lot easier.
After about 20 minutes, she tells you it's close.
Lily is obviously the superior girlfriend. Just look how cute and flirty she gets around him.
"Great. The faster we get the crystal the faster we can get out of here."
You pull up a large rock, and see a pink glow come from behind it.
"Hey! I think I found I-"
>"Ugh FinAllY. I thoUGHt I'D be sTuCk hErE fo-"
What do you do?
The others run up to you.
>"What's wrong? Are ya hurt?"
You point at the crystal.
Deinna pushes through you two.
>"What, who's the-"
She stares at him.
>"You're still ALIVE?"
>"YoU'Re wITH HER!?"
Deinna picks up a rock and starts to pound on the crystal.
>"Why won't you DIE!?"
You hold Deinna back as she flails her hooves at Sejor.
She's like a child throwing a tantrum.
"Nina, can you hold her?"
You pass her off to Nina and face Sejor Rafai.
You glare at him and tap on the crystal.
You look at him for a moment before taping harder.
>"YoU ImbEciLe! WhAt Are You StILL doING hErE?!"
"Whoa, you are in NO position to be asking questions here. But since you can't kill us right now, maybe we can talk like civilized beings."
He stays silent.
"We could also dump you in the ocean if you'd prefer that."
What do you ask him?
Naw nigga we're just gonna tell him that we're about to harness his essence as part of a trade deal.
You will be a slave to mortal ponies for the rest of your miserable existence, faggot.
We really should warp back to the lab first. Then we might actually have some people with ideas to get this guy out of there. I'd hate for him to posses the storm stone and use it to screw with the ship or something.
Also to avoid more monsters and weird goat people.
"Good. Now let's get you back to the city."
"The one where this crystal came from."
>"ThAT MIsEraBLE ExcCUsE oF a FoRTreSS?"
You pull out the book.
"Are we all ready?"
Deinna is still flailing, but Nina nods.
You close your eyes and go through the process that Len told you.
Get calm, and picture where you want to be.
Lots of metal, sky, clouds. Technology. City.
A blue light swirls around you all, including the crystal.
You float in the air for a few seconds. Then, nothing.
When you open your eyes, you see a small face very close to yours.
You grunt as you get up. You guess the crystal counts as a person, because you feel exceptionally worse than you did before.
>"How was it?"
"Oh, yeah, about that. We found him-"
She runs past you and stares at Deinna.
>"Oh nooooo! You got hurt!"
>"Noooooooo, I got you hurt..."
Deinna rolls her eyes.
>"I didn't get hurt."
>"What, you think I can't hold my own?!"
She scowls at Flo. A smile quickly reappears on the small seapony's face.
A little squee escapes from her, and she hugs the Elen.
>"I'm glad you aren't hurt!"
As Flo hugs her, Deinna groans a bit.
>"Oh! I forgot to say hi to Nina!"
She prances away.
Deinna slowly limps towards you.
>"I have two broken ribs. I'm going to the ship to heal. Don't let her follow me."
"O-kay? What about Sejor?"
>"Honestly, I don't care what you do with him. Just fix their engine or whatever."
She walks out of the building.
Halley taps your shoulder.
>"That who I think it is?"
She knocks on the crystal.
>"HEY! I THOUGHT WE BEAT YOU!"
Halley sticks her tongue out at him and taps harder.
She gives one last hard tap and huffs away.
You stand in front of the crystal.
"So... what to start with?"
"I guess we can start out with the obvious. What actually happened to you?"
>"I suPPOSE tHIs StoRM CrYStaL is a SuiTabLE Soul Gem. I wAs TrAnsFerrEd To ThiS WhEN YoU deStROYeD My BoDy."
"Do you know if putting the shard back will give him control of the engine?"
>"Of COuRsE noT yOU ImbEcILe. It JUsT WOnT WOrK."
"And why am I supposed to trust you?"
>"He's right I think."
Breeze taps her chin.
>"I recall reading somewhere that a spirit can sometimes block a gem's power. I guess it could be the same with a storm gem too."
"Great. So, how do we get him out?"
He slowly laughs.
>"To GeT Me OuT, YoU NeeD To TrANSfEr Me INtO A bOdY..."
"Great. We'll just put you into a tack or something."
He laughs harder.
>"It nEEDs TO Be a SUITABLE BODY! One WiTH EnoUgH SpIrItUAL EmPtiNesS TO HoLD ME! HAHAHaHaHAHAHA!!"
Spark pops her head out from some boxes.
>"Vat? Liek a ded body?"
>"Vell, you sed zat it needed enof spiritual emptiness to hold you. Zat means either a powerful robot, or a ded body."
Hmmm. How do you deal with this?
Yeah a fresh corpse could work. Or perhaps we could give him a robot body and then shrink it with alchemy. Finding a corpse might take longer anyway.
I prefer the dead body plan but whatever is available is fine too. I just wonder if the family members of the dead person would be upset that we put a evil spirit inside their relative.
Is it possible that there's another crystal around here that we could put him in? It's starting to sound like destroying spirits is a fool's errand, so locking them away is the best option.
Somehow I believe putting a mad god into a body, no matter how unassuming is going to end badly.
Do we know he's not just gonna be supremely powerful when he gets his body anyway? although a boss fight with a super-powered undead bunny rabbit might just be worth the risk.
Wouldn't it be better to get some more information, or barter for his freedom, since he may know more about the background even if he doesn't know whats been going on since his body was turned into paving stones.
"Does the body matter? Like, could we put him into a bunnyor a goldfish or something?"
>"Noh. If hiz spirit is powerful, you could end up making a super powered rabbit ov DETH!"
"Ehhhh, I'd rather not do that. It's one of those ideas that sounds cool in theory, but, no."
"Are there any other crystals that we can put him in?"
>"You could alvays use ze other storm crystals."
>"Spark! That's what we're trying to FIX!"
"What about a robot? We could use Lily's shrinking alchemy to make him small."
Lily shakes her head.
>"He'd still have his strength and powers though. His body would just be small. We'd also need a robot big enough to hold him in the first place, and we don't have one off hand right now."
>"HeheHEHEHEHEHAHAHHA! FOoLISH PoNIes. No DeAD BODy CaN HolD Me... The SPirItuAL SpaCe NeeDed is TOO GrEAt. YoU'Re waSTING YOuR Time..."
"Wasting our time for what? Do you think Arit's going to go around killing all ponies?"
>"WhaT Do YOu KnOW Of ArIT'S PlANs? YoU aRe JUst A fOOlISH-"
"He thanked me for destroying you."
"He said you were a demon, bent on destruction and death. You had gone mad. A monster."
He says nothing.
>"Vait, vhat if..."
>"Vhat if ve had a body zat vasn't just vone pony."
>"VHAT? Zis seems like a very important zing."
"What's she talking about?"
Spark jumps down with a strange device. It looks like half an egg, but with a dial on it. She places it on the crystal. It starts to click rapidly, the needle on the readout steadily climbs.
>"Yez, it could vork."
You look to Breeze for explanation.
>"Okay, some of the tinkers dabble in the... medical field of science."
>"Dabble?! HAH! I almost created LIFE!"
>"Yeah, well, either way it's really gross."
"What is it?"
Spark starts to laugh.
>"Vell, a pony's body has immense spiritual emptiness. Ponies do not hev souls of their own, so ze extra space is taken up by ze magic zat pony possesses. But, ze most interesting part, iz zat if a pony's body iz destroyed and all zat is left is a hoof, zat SINGLE HOOF can store as MUCH SPIRITUAL ENERGY AS A WHOLE PONY! It's MARVELOUZ!"
"So, what does that mean for us?"
She gets extremely close to your face.
>"Hehehehe, I hev a body zat was... put back togezer. It has enough parts from different ponies to safely hold zis beast, and ze excess space vould make it impossible to use and of his POWERS!"
>"But, it's a disgusting practice!"
>"Bah. Disgust is detrimental to progress.
As long as she can guarantee he cannot break free of our control, then by all means let's Frankenstein the fucker. Maybe turning him into a psuedo-living thing will make him sane again or at least give him a new perspective on the living?
So if we do this, can we promise him a chance of revenge/communication with his idol? If he looked up to Arit a lot, and it turns out that idol had betrayed him...well. We saw what he can do. We either have him help us to our endgame or he can die right here, right now.
"What do you mean by fallen bretheren? What does that mark mean?"
His eye widens as his body begins to shake
>"Our BROthErs aNd SIstersss whO wEre StoleN FRom US. TUrneD INto MIndLEss PuPPeTs. THeir SOUl STIll attaCHed to THEIr emptY BODIes. AlwAYs WATchiNG"
As he spoke, his voice became louder and more hoarse. The ground began to crack.
>"WATcHINg, As THEIR HUsKs dEStroY And KILL thE tHIngS tHEy LOVE!"
Towers of rock began to break through the ground. Towering over you two.
>"AND WE, WE HAve TO be BURDENed WITH THE SoMBER TASK OF KILLING OUr OWN BLOOD. KnOWING THAT it IS THE ONLY WAY To FREEe THeM!"
He shouldn't be crazy now at all. :^)
I could care less. It's just putting one thing into a empty thing.
The paragon in me wants to give this guy the chance to plead his case and maybe let him think about his actions a bit given that he knows how arid thinks about him now.
He could be a great ally...
But he's been such a pain in the asshole. I kinda don't think he even deserves it, everybody hates him and I don't want to go on a side quest for this guy to find a gem for him.
This can be considered a form of a prison sentence.
You'd think that if he was fixed though that he would be apologizing for his actions now because he was blinded by the rot before. But he kinda remembers everything and I don't think he feels bad.
>zat SINGLE HOOF can store as MUCH SPIRITUAL ENERGY AS A WHOLE PONY
If a dead body was suggested in the first place, it stands to reason that just a hoof can be used.
>ze excess space vould make it impossible to use and of his POWERS
To my understanding the point of using a frankenstein is so that there's SO MUCH magic energy space that he can't use his abilities effectively. But that's kinda a moot point if he's just a hoof.
The thing about the Rot is that its not supposed to be Sejors fault he's an asshole, he's just corrupted. Remember when Sejor died and it was revealed that he was originally created to protect ponies and humans? The rot turned him into a monster bent on slaughtering them and forced him to watch his body kill those he was supposed to save. He was sympathetic when he died, but this soul gem stuff just makes him into a normal asshole. Kinda sucks desu senpai.
We only need a bunch to make sure he doesn't have insane power. That's not much of an issue if he's in a severed hoof. And if he can't do anything from a crystal, I'm going to assume he can't do anything from a severed hoof.
Both a hoof and a crystal are inanimate objects. The crystal even has the ability to power a super engine. If he can't do anything to us from the crystal, he can't do anything to us from the hoof.
A full dead body is an inanimate object. There's apparently a difference between the crystal and not a crystal that would keep him contained. Presumably the crystal has enough emptyness to contain him.
As would a hoof. If a little rabbit could have potentially held him, then surely a pony could as well. The problem with either is that he would retain his massive power, resulting in death bunny or death pone. However, we were told that just a hoof can contain an entire pony's magic. A hoof can contain him.
No, the problem is that a single pony /can't/ contain him. Which is why the multi-body is being brought up at all. So the bunny body /can't/ contain all his spirit, so it'd be a death bunny. A hoof /can't/ contain all of his spirit, so he'd have access to his magic. Sure, assume he isn't mobile. Magic doesn't necessarily need mobility. Nor does it need inherent mobility to make it's host mobile.
Now, if you were to propose sewing a bunch of hooves together...
But we need to over-contain him, only a hoof would work like putting an ant on a plate in comparison to a jar it can't climb out of. Enough empty space, and he can't sync with his power, too little empty space and he'll have full and complete control and power
The problem isn't fitting him in, it's making sure he has too much blank space to use any of his power
> it's making sure he has too much blank space to use any of his power
That's effectively what I'm saying. If there's not enough room for his power, then he can use it, it doesn't fit him. The crystal apparently has enough room or is designed to contain magic/spirit energy/whatever. A hoof isn't.
Is Nips railroading?
It seems the only acceptable solution is to throw him in a Frankenstein body, an idea proposed in-quest with no prompting from players.
>Here's the only thing that works. Do you want to do this thing that is the only thing that works?
If the existing mechanics of the world are such that this is the only option, no. There's been a few proposed options like splitting him, bundling a hundred hairs together, sewing a bunch of hooves together, but they've gained no traction so ignoring them is proper.
No. We could find another gem to hold him in, but that sounds like another quest, and I don't wanna do that.
We could put him in a bunny, or a goldfish and simply toss him into the ocean. The ark has a huge magic engine, right? If you could turn that into a holding place for him, it'd probably do the same thing as a frankenpony.
I just want to get back to equestria and meet fruity's dad honestly. This is the quickest route.
>sejor rafai waifu
You're right, he should have the 100 different possible outcomes to these situations written out before-hand as well as the 1000s of different plot developments that can come from it.
You think for a moment.
"Alright. Lets do it."
Spark clops her hooves together happily.
>"Yezzzz, YEZZZZ! You shall not regret zis!"
She trots over to a lever and pulls it.
A space opens up on the floor. A platform rises up through a cloud of cool smoke.
3 stitched together bodies lie on the platform.
>"SPARK! I thought you only had one!"
>"Marvelouz, aren't zey?"
"Where uh, did you get the parts?"
>"Tinkering iz dangerouz vork. Many assistantz are needed. SO. TAKE YOUR PICK!"
Wait a minute....she desecrated the bodies of their friends and coworkers? Most likely without their consent beforehand? Am I the only one who thinks Fruit should be really disturbed by this?
Acquiring Frankenbooty takes bigger priority over the moral quandary its creation entails in this moment. Likely, they were the ones who died in accidents caused by their own experiments.
>MFW when I more or less predicted this.
Although I'm pretty okay with having a zombie ally.
>I just want to get back to equestria and meet fruity's dad honestly. This is the quickest route.
Why though? Not that I'm not curious about Fruit's dad, brothers and sisters, but I'm not really sure how ANY of his family could be of any use to us.
I vote for 2
because it's the ugliest one and it matched the soul going inside. I don't want fruity to start thinking with his dick with this one.
So question for spark...why is it that it seems these bodies are wearing eyeshadow.
...I think someone has some weird kinks.
2, actually kinda grows on yah.
Though, prison or not, shouldn't the big bad get a vote? It is his body, and if he's stuck with eveeyone, might as well remove a needless point of contention.
>Derpy and Fluttershy have 2 hooves
>Rainbow Dash has a lone forehoof (I think)
Well that's not fair.
And id say it makes walking harder.
So who's into necrophilia?
You tap Sejor.
"It's gonna be your new body. Which one do you want?"
"The first one should be fine. There's nothing different about them is there?"
>"Noh. Zey all hev ze same spiritual emptiness."
"Then the first one."
She tosses the body over her shoulder and places it on a table. She hops into the back of a large box and rolls out a large machine. Two bolt looking things are placed on either side of the body's head. She grabs a tube looking thing and attaches it to the crystal.
While she tinkers with the insides of one of the bolts, you walk up to her.
"Hey uh, are you sure this is going to work?"
>"You doubt my skill?"
"N-nono, I was just wondering if-"
>"Silly pony. Nothing can be accomplished, vithout some risks!"
She runs over to a switch.
"Alright. So long as you're confident in this process."
She giggles to herself.
She pulls the switch and looks back at you with a creepy smile..
>"I've never done zis before!"
An earth shattering roar emanates from the crystal, now glowing intensely. Green sparks run across it, as Sejor's voice slowly dissapates.
Spark runs up to the body.
>"Yes... Yes... YESSSS!"
The body twitches and shakes. The machine rattles as bolts fly loose and plates of metal fall from it's sides.
The room begins to rumble. Pieces of the ceiling begin to crumble inwards.
Glowing cracks form on the body. It's twitches more erratic.
>"ENTER YOUR NEW BODY, DEMON! ZERE IZ NOWHERE ELSE FOR YOU TO GO! HAHHAHHAA!"
Suddenly, the lights stop, and the machine crumples. Smoke and dust fill the room.
"I-Is everyone alright?"
You hear the rest of the party call out.
"Spark, did it wo-"
A bright red light shines through the smoke. The body begins to scream. You can faintly hear Sejor Rafai's voice.
>"NoOoO! DoN'T YoU DaRE PuT Me In ThAt FIlTHhhhh..."
his voice trails off, and the screaming comes to an abrupt stop.
Anybody else notice that the girl we met is one of those cat things?
Those are the "Spirits" Arit is protecting guys. That's why she attacked us. Arit told them that all ponies were evil and would hurt them, so much like a self fulfilling prophecy, she attacked us in "self defense"
The only question I have is this. Did Arit send her to collect Sejor? Or did she do it on her own? If Arit sensed he was in that crystal, he might have wanted to collect him.
Personally, I think she was running from the sentries.
I looks like she ran past us here, and the sentries were following. That's why she was probably surprised to see uss and not the sentries
Here's an odd question. What colors do we think this zombie is? It's a combination of a bunch of different ponies, so her fur and various hair colors are likely a mess to look at.
