That's correct. All you really have to do is change proportions and a few bones that may go in different directions. The big parts like the scapula, ribcage, and pelvic girdle are universal. Even humans share these major bone masses so if you learn any given mammal it'll make it easier to learn humans.

The standard mechanical pencil is 2b quality so they're on the softer side. You just have to have a really light touch when using a mechanical pencil. If you're leaving a gloss on the paper where your mark is then you're pressing way too hard.

Yeah I think it helps to either put where your ground plane is on the canvas or at least try to visualize it. I always start my legs from the ground plane and work up into the major forms of the body and make adjustments as needed. I should really make a webm of me demonstrating.

If you're referring to the webms I made keep in mind I was "feeling it out" which is one way I do things. It's a way of me getting ideas down quickly and may not work for everyone. I was just giving a quick demo in hopes it'll help someone. It's far from perfect and its very loose and a tad sloppy. I probably should have clarified that.

Man, seeing all of this really makes me want to get back into drawing more. I just hit a wall a while ago and can't see it as anything but stressful anymore for some reason. Sorry that took so long. I had did the redline then realized that it wasn't up to snuff.

I put the head in more of a profile view since the entire body is facing away from the viewer. I also changed the angle of the booty so that it shows more of the legs and flanks. It's almost as if her back was broken. I made it so that the spine flows more naturally.

Compositionally, it seems the purpose of this was to show off the pone's booty. If you want to convey that perhaps it's better to not have the tail covering it. I didn't draw it in but I would make it to where she (he?) is flicking their tail to the side for the viewer.
