Give your waifu a bit of depth.
Op, this is pretty cool. Glad to see you aren't that big of a faggot.
if only I knew how to do this in photoshop.
I really think I'm onto something here, Anons.
It ain't perfect, but it's something.
Posting the depthmap because I can't post the real thing on a christian board.
gif here: http://i.imgur.com/AOjQbZT.gif
I can't decide what looks better up and down or small oval, also thanks anon
Dear princess Celestia
Today I managed to get fuck all done because I wasted my time making a gif of a pony shaking her butt.
It was a good day.
Daring twerks in mysterious ways
Can someone please make a webm of this?
>"Rainbow Dash, I think I'm startin' ta have feelin's for this warshin' machine."
Oh, hey, not bad.
mine turned out alright
but it's kinda gay
it's fairly straightforward, just upload a pic of your favourive pone and draw the depth map for it.
Or just open the pic in GIMP or whatever and draw the map there, white is far, black is near, gray is everything between. Should look like this:
i want to understand this but i dont know how
it stretches and clips out pixels based on the depth
give pixel 3 values, x,y and z coordinates, depending on the z value it will move pixels according to that, further pixels will not move as much, and pixels that are close to the viewer will move much more, giving that 3D feel.
This is some bomb ass cocaine anon
cool place, wish i had my tablet with me
Is there any way to make the second-long webms it generates not fuckhuge?
yes yes pls
Anything really. I was editing the apple with a huge penis, then I accidentally exit out of the tab. When I reopened it it says "Rats! WebGL Has hit a snag"
Then it comes with 2 options "Reload" And "Ignore" I've done both and nothing worked.
damn you're good my depthmap looks like an autistic child drew it
its a bit less choppy than my last one but I think im improving
What software are you using to draw the depth map? If you use one that allows you to change your brush's hardness and opacity your results should improve a lot.
I use Photoshop CS6, but GIMP is free and works just as well.
tfw I was working on this gif as well and it isnt as good
No, this took up most of my night. Spent 3 hours on this, more or less spent on figuring out GIMP. Tested multiple theories and things, ended up going with outlining major parts (ass, individual legs, etc.) with the brush tool, fill the area, and go over major open bits. Pic related.
There is a tool on the site that allows you to paint a depth map; it's the paint brush icon.
Or you can do it in photoshop like pic related.
Using GIMP. I was just wondering if there was some wort of "Smooth" tool or something I was missing out on. Smudge wasn't really what I was looking for, and nothing else got very close to the original idea either, so I went with hard lines.
Trips demand, and they shall receive!
It's small, so I recommend getting the picture, and pic related, and uploading it to depthy
Honestly, it's just photoshop magic. Well, it does help to know photoshop in and out, but it's mostly photoshop magic.
That, and gimp has a bit of a learning curve.
I am a man of infinite reason and wisdom. You better follow my example, common pleb.
The only thing about that piece worthy of some commendation is Twilight's face. The rest is on a scale of meh to jesus christ my eyes.
Sorry to keep you waiting anon.
This one is a lot hotter with the animation.
also, no link, because it screws up the animation for some reason.
So just take the depthmap and go!
Sitting there, waving mouse around in small circles.
This is magical. Thanks.
>requires slightly more clicking than usual
Fuck, you sound like a faggot.
The alternative is drawing the fucking depthmap yourself.
Heres the fucking link http://depthy.me/#/ip/ugCx1bB you piece of shit.
You're missing out.
Now kill yourself.
fixed the depthmap a bit for purposes.
OOOOOOOH ANON, YOU'RE SO BIG!
captcha: CIABig Bane
Well fuck my ass and call me a bitch!
good effort just a tip try and go a little outside the border and try to shade it it helps smooth it out and if you go outside the border it wont stretch and distort the image too much just a small bit of the background. but who cares about the background when there are pony asses to look at.
Tried again using only the spray tool. Worked out faster and better than carefully selecting the area.
I'm trying to post a gif but I seriously have no idea what's going on what happened to captcha-less posting I'm posting this from my phone it's not happening on here
I think it's my best one so far, gaussian blur works wonders.
Also, can anyone explain to me how to use the smudge tool in GIMP? It makes stuff semi transparent for me and after a bit o smudging it completely stops doing anything.
I just open the pic in GIMP and go nuts with a brush. I've found that filling in the far bits first and then moving on to darker and nearer bits works best. It's kinda like drawing a map with all the heights marked with different shades of gray, except it's a butt.
dunno, I just use very soft brushes to draw each layer.
With this one I went for the gaussian blur filter at the end and it seems like it did good, before the map looked like pic related.
This fucking thread.
I hope my dick is ready for a good beating.
For higher resolution save the original picture and the depth map then apply the depth map yourself.
It's like a Rorschach test.
I see an acorn nestled between a couple of large stones, possibly by a creek. There is a log in the background, either on the other bank or in the middle of the creek. To the right it looks like there's some sort of string or something, probably a bit of fishing line that was left here, or that we are going to be using.
How close am I?
Come on, you've got this, /mlp/
It's one of the most common ones
Please don't let me lose faith
pretty sure I did this very wrong
or very right
Final product. Will have entire thing uploaded soon
Could've done much better had I not left my tablet somewhere in Arizona
I'm not quite sure why the framerate is so ass
Holy shit what's wrong with her face? I didn't know ponies could have Down's syndrome.
I want to trap Rainbow Dash in a corner with a vacuum cleaner.
>takes a second to load gif, seems normal speed
sweet communist, the communist daughter
god is a place you will wait for the rest of your life :^)
hopefully this depthmap wont get taken down
For higher resolution save the original picture and the depth map then apply the depth map yourself.
On simple pone images you can get away with some really fast and sloppy depth maps.
I am going around a second time! The fuzzy select tool is useful. Only a WIP, but promise!
Remember that I haven't done the outlines yet, so it's a bit glitchy right now. Also, bump.
Fuzzy select won't save everything. Got it. Still an improvement.
For people who don't own a tablet and lack any artistic skills like I do, this is what I did to make this:
>get GIMP and load the picture into it
>figure out some 'landmarks' in the picture and assign them numbers between 0 and 100. background is 100, an object poking at the viewer is 0.
>make sure the numbers somewhat correspond to how far away the things should be from one another. write down more points in between them in case you need gradients later
>bring up the layers window and duplicate the current layer
>add an alpha channel to the copied picture
>start cutting out the lowest layer with the lasso tool. use invert selection and del to get rid of of everything else
>fill selection with gray (somewhere in the edit menu). the 0-100 value can be used in one of the color selection sliders
>save the selection to a path before carrying on, it will be useful later
>repeat process for all notable layers
>to add gradients, duplicate the source picture again and lazily draw the sample colors on landmarks. Use the color picker to get these colors again. use the selection in combination with the gradient tool to roughly add gradients. no need to be accurate
>use one of the paths you used earlier to retrieve the selection of your cut outs. use this selection to delete the gradient parts that went over the line
>for things like noses, use a brush inside a selection so it does not go over the edges
There are probably much easier ways to do this if you are just a little bit skilled, but I managed this with it.
It's an alright method, unless you want to really capture the shape of an object (like the roundness of a pony butt, for example). I prefer to just draw the map with a soft brush, starting with a white background, then add some light gray on top and just keep going until I get to the black layer. It takes a bit of planning and spatial imagination, but you can get pretty nice representation of round or curved objects.
Like butts, I'm talking about butts.
I just got gimp added a layer and set the transparency of the white layer to around 60 and colored and shaded accordingly I made
I use the smudge tool to attempt to shade but I have no idea how people get their lines so perfect and make a perfect shading Like these
Would appreciate any tips I'm using gimp
some old dt/ss classics (nsfw)
I tried a no hooves I think it turned out well? http://depthy.me/#/ip/AvxfxEc
thanks for the tips I think it looks better
I don't have the patience to sit through and play with this. Someone make this pony's head, hair, and shoulders waggle while her butt and tail are also wagging in tune.
Not a huge difference this time, but again, for higher resolution save the original picture and the depth map then apply the depth map yourself.
adagio is so sexybeautiful
It's a very anthropomorphic rendition of a pony. Anthropomorphic to the point that there are very few horse-specific parts left in it. The majority of furfags would hit that like there was no tomorrow.
It's also pretty fuckin pedo
Am I doing it right?
ask and ye shall receive
also re: these arguments about anthro what the hell who cares it is just a cute picture of pinkie pie and it makes me want to give her a hug
you are all thinking too much about this
That's some shonky business right there mate
you did the depth map well but its completely backwards the butt should be black and the vag should be a dark shade of grey the dark is for close up and the lighter shades of grey are for far away also obligatory
Holy shit it actually looks like an animation this time
/r/ pic related, I think it would look funny
here you go put it to super fast speed and you will get something like this I didn't put too much time into this but it turned out kinda funny
cleaned it up a bit, hopefully improved it. You did an amazing job on those boobies, though, I have to say.
Can ya do anything with this one? Figured the magic drill could be a cool effect.
If not, anything with Roseluck would be cool.
Can you tell me how you get your gradient so smooth when I did that picture I tried my hardest but it still was a bit choppy what tools do you use and how do you use them. when I have 1 line that has 2 different depths I try to bleed the darker side (for example the leg and the hair) over to preserve the lines just wondering why you get rid of that. Also did I blend the hair well. Also thanks for the complement on the titties I thought everyone just thinks my stuff is shit I apreciate the feedback knowing that my stuff is somewhat decent.
The perspective was tricky in this, definitely more complex than a butt.
My method is pretty much just GIMP, a soft brush and a lot of autism; pic related was the first one where I used the actual gradient tool, otherwise it's just
>paint line with 25 brightness
>paint line with 26 brightness just above it
>continue until it's 3 am
As for the issue of lines between two gradients, I always try to get the darker region to overlap slightly, but that pretty much works only when you have a solid color under the light region, otherwise you get weird stuff happening.
Apply depth map yourself for higher resolution.
What size brush do you use when you shade with the lines. I use a medium probably around 25 size brush then I put a line about 2-3 color graidents apart until I get to the end of the area then I select the area I just half assed shaded with the lasso tool and use the Gaussian blur tool to get a even coverage I then use the airbrush tool to color the outsides the same color as the middle because the Gaussian blur makes it light on the outer end of the selected area I then use the smudge tool to push the darker area over the lighter area to prevent the blurry black lines
in all honesty the first one goes more smoothly because on the second one you took the shading away from the hair and made it distort more than it should but you did make the headpiece and the necklace work much better also I like the way the legs move better on the first one it makes it look like she is the one moving not the guy
Something interesting I've learned is that /mlp/ fucking despises >no hooves, unless there's a really nice pair of tits.
Even horsefuckers can appreciate a good rack.
>this thread turned into a goddamn anthrofest
I actually don't mind. >mfw
I can't see the image I upload, and whatever I'm supposed to be drawing, I can't see that either. I can see the interface on the left and bottom, but other than that it's just the site's black background. Noscript is off and so is adblock
Made this one pretty hastily, just messing around and learning to do it. What you guys think? Any constructive feedback?
mah dick will need zehiling after this ride
Can we let the thread die yet? It's archived, I'm sure another one will pop up before the release of Half-Life 3, and it's nearing 6 days and over 400 posts. It's dying soon anyways, let's just become a general and have a weekly Depthy butt thread.
Also, >same fag.
Only go up and down and set the depth between middle and near I tried to go with a >>21154698
kinda vibe http://depthy.me/#/ip/p1yIN8i
put in vertical and enjoy.
Set it to vertical, dramatic, near and x_X
Pic very much related
Also, that picture is pretty fucking kick-ass anon
