Tomorrow's episode features Maud and had a few scenes similar to Friends Forever #29, so I thought I may as well storytime it tonight so it could be fresh and compared with tomorrow's episode.

Introduction
>This is a slice of intensified history—history as I saw it. It does not pretend to be anything but a detailed account of the Equestrian Civil War, when the Socialist Party of Equestria, alongside the workers and anarchist militias, seized the state power of Equestria and placed it in the hands of the working class, defeating a fascist uprising.
>Naturally most of it deals with “Red Ponyville,” the capital and heart of the insurrection. But we will travel far and wide, hearing the stories from across the nation of the great struggle for the liberation of the working class and against the National Socialist Equestrian Workers Party.
>In this report, the first of several which I am writing, I must confine myself to a chronicle of those events which I myself observed and experienced, and those supported by reliable evidence; preceded by two chapters briefly outlining the background and causes of the rise of Socialism in Equestria. I am aware that these two chapters make difficult reading, but they are essential to an understanding of what follows.
>Several questions will suggest themselves to the mind of the reader. What kind of a governmental structure did the Socialist Party of Equestria set up? If the Socialist Party of Equestria championed the Mayoral Assembly before the uprising, why didn’t they resurrect it afterward? And if the bourgeoisie opposed the Mayoral Assembly until the danger of socialist political success became apparent, why did they champion it afterward?
>>29970381
>In considering the rise of the Socialist Party of Equestria it is necessary to consider my own, small role. I had arrived in Equestria four years ago, and had brought with me a vast collection of human political and economic literature. Biographies of figures like Eugene V. Debs and Buenaventura Durruti, the works of Marx, Smith, Locke, Hobbes, Blanc, Weber, Bakunin, Kropotkin, etcetera. Even a copy of John Reed’s classic account of the Russian Revolution, 10 Days that Shook the World, made its way with me. I had thought nothing of sharing these works with then-Princess Twilight Sparkle, an inquisitive member of the Equestrian Royalty. She was fascinated by the books and treatises, and set about raising class consciousness in both the town of Ponyville and all over Equestria. She would become a pivotal figure in the revolution, and was, by publishing revisions of Marx and Engels’ works edited for a contemporary Equestrian audience, no less important to its origins than Marx or Lenin was to the origins of the Russian Revolution here on Earth.
>It is also necessary to understand that Equestrian economic life and the Equestrian army were not disorganised by the revolution, but many months before, as the logical result of a process which began as far back as a year before these events. The corrupt reactionaries in control of Celestia’s Court deliberately undertook to wreck Equestria in order to prevent the success of the socialists in the Mayoral Assembly. The lack of food in the army and in the great cities, the breakdown of manufactures and transportation in—all these we know now were part of a gigantic campaign of sabotage. This was all done by the bourgeoisie to fuel the rise of Starlight Glimmer’s National Socialist Equestrian Workers Party as a last resort to maintain their grip on economic and political power.
>>29970389
>For the first few months of the new régime, in spite of the confusion incident upon a great Revolution, and the struggle against the fascist rebels, both the internal situation and the combative power of the army actually improved. Production soared as the Equestrian working class took charge, and the army’s strength, even sapped by defectors to the fascist cause, was greatly bolstered by thousands of volunteers.
>The Equestrian workpony is revolutionary, but they are neither violent, dogmatic, nor unintelligent. They are ready for barricades, but they have studied them, and have learned about them from actual experience. They are ready and willing to fight their oppressor, the capitalist class, to a finish. But they do not ignore the existence of other classes. They merely ask that the other classes take one side or the other in the bitter conflict that draws near.
>As to why the Mayoral Assembly was not resurrected in the aftermath of the Civil War, they (the workers) were all agreed that our (American) democratic institutions were preferable to their own, but they were not very anxious to exchange one despot for another (i.e., the capitalist class)
>The workingponies of Equestria did not struggle against the NSEWP menace, toiling long into the night and giving their lives in droves, in exchange for the doubtful privileges of the workingmen of Detroit and Chicago.
>And so developed in Equestria, in the midst of a civil war, the Social Revolution on top of the Political Revolution, culminating in the triumph of libertarian socialism.
>>29970401
>Foreigners, and Americans especially, frequently emphasise the “innocence” of the Equestrian workers. It is true they lacked the political experience of the peoples of Earth, but they were very well trained in voluntary organisation. Every year each town, in the absence of a natural mechanism to spur the changing of the seasons, organized the transition from Winter to Spring; and the formation and rise of the SPE is itself a testament to their self-organizing genius. Moreover, the efforts of Twilight Sparkle and other educators ensured that there is probably not a people in the world so well educated in Socialist theory and its practical application as the ponies of Equestria.
>The Equestrian working ponies are for the most part able to read and write. For a few years the country has been in such a decentralized condition that they have had the advantage of leadership not only of intelligent individuals in their midst, but of a large part of the equally revolutionary educated class, who have turned to the working people with their ideas for the political and social regeneration of Equestria.
>Many writers explain their hostility to the Socialist Party of Equestria by arguing that the opening phase of the Equestrian Civil War was simply a struggle of the “respectable” elements against the radicalism of the SPE, and that it was this radical nature that caused the NSEWP to swing so violently towards tyranny. However, it was the propertied classes, who, when they realised the growth in power of the popular revolutionary organisations, undertook to destroy them and to halt the Revolution. To this end they resorted to desperate measures. In order to wreck the Mayoral Assembly, transportation was disorganised and internal troubles provoked; plants were shut down, and fuel and raw materials diverted; to gain military participation in the coup, the rank and file soldiers were enticed to mutiny by NSEWP agitators.
Welcome to Equestrian Dungeon, the sequel to /mlp/ Tower. As in the last rendition of the game, the goal will be to get to the end of the segment or floor. Along the way, you will be able to keep items you find (and mischeviously bring along) in the Inventory, as well as work with a set number of players, dubbed "AnonPones," in the thread. AnonPones are created when a player joins the game. There are multiple interactive objects, such as switches, levers, giant metal springs, and the occasional undead or mechanical monstrosity that's out to kill your party. There are also many traps scattered throughout the floor, such as flamethrowers and bottomless pits, that also harm or kill your AnonPones. You have no floor diagram, alas "Flying Blind", and you will rely on

Recent updates: Heartbeat mechanism implemented. Rack up those combos!
For new players: Post the nearest three items to your RIGHT excluding computer accessories, then post what race you'd like to be (Earth Pony, Pegasus, Unicorn).

You find yourself hanging from a tree, your ankle caught between two tree branches preventing you from falling to the forest floor a few feet below.
How did you get here and why were you in a bloody tree? This was only one of many questions swirling in your head but getting down was your main concern.

The darkness peels away as my lantern flickers to life. My vision sharpens instantaneously and I find myself overwhelmed by a sense of pure dread, glancing aimlessly around at my claustrophobic, featureless enclosure. Yet the spectral illumination from the small bronze and glass object I clutch tightly between my hooves instills confidence in me as it silently beckons my attention. I have no idea where this strange looking lantern came from, but I instinctively know it is vitally important to me. I have no reasonable explanation for the seemingly irrational feeling but, at the least, I am grateful for its light. Still, though my light promises comfort my seamless prison unnerves me.
My head hurts. I feel nauseous. My focus shifts from the mesmerizing flame to my body, what little of it actually remains. Were it not clear that I was unnerved by my current predicament just moments prior, it would be blatantly obvious to any outside observer now. To put it delicately I may have somewhat lost my composure. Then again it's not every day that one looks down and discovers the lower half of their body just, well, missing. What should have been there just sort of tapers into nothingness. My form is also translucent and appears to be levitating within the middle of this hollow sphere.
"Am I dead," I whisper to myself. "Am I a ghost?"
My mind races as I try to envision just what possible tragedy could have secured my presence here. But the shocking revelations continue when I realize the entirety of my memories are veiled, clouded over in my mind and beyond my reach. What's my name? Where am I from? Do I have a family? Nothing. My hope seeps away bit by bit with each new unanswerable question, the cogs in my mind spinning uselessly.
>>29924259
Cogs. Cogs. Cogs spinning. Steam! Steampunk? Cogs?
The fleeting ember slipped from my mind before it could ignite a memory. It would not come again no matter how hard I tried to concentrate, leaving only empty thoughts, hollow and dark. My emotions swell up and I scream in pitiful defeat to no one but myself. I feel as though I could burst into tears at any moment but no tears fall from my lifeless eyes. Can ghosts even cry? Apparently not, assuming that I even am a ghost. Exhausted by this entire experience I sink to the floor in despair.
"What is this place? Why am I here?"
The matte-finished crimson sphere confounds me for several reasons. First, the material feels cool to the touch like marble or iron. The fact that I can interact with it at all is the second question it poses. If I were a ghost couldn't I just pass through things like in the fairy tales we tell yearlings? Third, it makes no sound when I tap on it. It's as if it absorbs it all, devours it. The thought unnerves me. I thank my lucky stars I-
"THERE. YOU. ARE."
My heart- Well, if my heart HAD been in my chest it would have exploded from the palpable fear that thoroughly compressed my body from within and without. The booming voice seemed to come from everywhere and yet nowhere and thundered like a thousand cannons firing at once in my head.
Cannons. Cannons. Explosions. Invasion! FIRE IN THE HOLE! Fear. Another useless fragment of memory pops into and out of existence.
"YOU. ARE. MINE. FOREVER."
I reel on the floor as my thoughts are shredded by this all-encompassing voice invading my mind. I groan in agony as I grasp the lantern to by body all the tighter for fleeting security.
>>29924263
"ONCE. HERE. FOREVER. HERE."
As the force of the disembodied voice overpowers me, the flame within my lantern flickers precariously. My eyes grow wide with undiluted fear as the darkness begins to reclaim me.
"No-no-no! Don't go out! Oh please, no!"
"MINE. MINE."
I shake the little lantern, banging frantically on the frame as if I could somehow coax it to stay lit, pleading, praying for a miracle. The ichor-thick darkness creeps towards me like a sludge, ready to envelop me as the voice becoming more and more possessive, commanding.
"MINE."
And then I see salvation in a chance glimpse into the flickering flame. As the dim fire leapt around its housing I saw flashing images of those thoughts, those memories, I could not place earlier. One was of an alley, medieval brick buildings lining a cobblestone pavement leading out into a bustling street filled with ponies like me, the other a damp metal corridor rocking with concussions, klaxons wailing in the distance. One flame, two paths.
"YOU. CAN. NOT. ESCA-"
And just like that I was free of the infernal womb, drawn within my metal and glass savior to somewhere else. My impossible journey had begun. Or was I merely continuing it? I was determined to find out the answer even if it killed me. Again...
