Due to the post amount on the previous thread, it's back. The heated debate wages on between shitposters and anons competing for dominance over a percieved absence of authority.

I think I figured out why /mlp/ dislikes the newer seasons so much. Notes about the graph, the scale is between 0-8 where 0 are worst of the series, 8 is best of the series, and 4 is average (relative to the show).
When the show began, the best episodes in the show were based on the mane 6, even if on average those episodes were slightly worse than they are today. The real difference between episodes is how much worse non-mane 6 were compared to today. As newer seasons came out, non-mane 6 characters began to get better and better episodes while the mane 6 remained relatively stagnate in quality. This difference is most noticable at seasons 5 through season 7, where non mane 6 characters are 1.5 points higher in season 5 (on average), nearly two points higher than the mane 6 in season 6 and still over 1 point (but less than seasons 5 or 6) higher than the mane 6. Could the hatred for the later seasons be due to the differences in quality between the mane 6 and the non mane 6 characters?

Its an interesting correlation, the larger the gap between the quality of mane 6 episodes and non mane 6 episodes in favor of the non-mane 6, the more people seem to hate that season.

So, this generation of MLP has lasted 7 seasons, the big movie premieres soon, season 8 is confirmed and I have no doubts there will be a season 9.
Yet, do you think that g4 will end after that? What do you think will be next step? g4.5 with the same world but different characters? Maybe just a "Next Generation" kinda thing? A prequel, maybe, with Luna/Celestia/Starswirl shenanigans?
Or a complete g5 reboot with nothing to do with this?

Lesson Zero was what set the tone for season 4 and beyond. At the time it was fresh because everything else in the show felt super down to earth and genuine. Lesson Zero was more following the crazy antics you'd expect from something like adventure time. Of course we're never getting an episode like Lesson Zero again because every fucking episode nowadays has the same tone as Lesson Zero.
As for Party of One, they're going to ruin its legacy by bringing Pinkamena back this season. Unless Joanna and Kristine are writing it themselves, I expect it to be complete shit.

It's almost divegrass time, /mlp/. The quest for redemption begins Oct. 13 (if we're stuck in Fetus) or Oct. 27 (if we're not). That means we have to update the roster!
