This was way better than Zeta Gundam.
Even though some characters were unlikable or naive, at least they acted according to their own logic and personal reasoning.
They felt like actual human beings but also flawed, as opposed to the unpalatable autists we got in Zeta. The romance was light and not forced down our throat like in Zeta. (Kamille and Four's contrived autistic newtype bullshit).
Zeta had a few good ideas, but the execution was amateurish and childish. The way Tomino approached this work was like that of a manchild.
All of this shitty direction could have been avoided if Takahashi was in charge instead.
gundamrager strikes again

No, just Zetarager, because Zeta is actually pretty shit even when compared to the original.

Maybe if you stop posting this imaginary boogeyman people would start taking your fanbase seriously.

As if all of Takahashi's works are masterpieces.
Really people should stop being buthurt that not everyone likes Gundam Zeta. There are people who don't like Dunbine, or Victory, or Turn A, or Xabungle. Doesn't stop Tomino from working and making more anime.

The stuff with the glasses dude in the final ova was pretty fucking stupid, desu. I liked Galient more.

Maybe if you stop defending his beloved gundamrage and act as a retarded SJW with white knight syndrome people would start taking their shitposts seriously.

Layzner wasted allot of time getting from point A to point B in any given arc, and the character development that resulted was'nt quite enough to make up for it. Zeta was slow, but the intricate details in the character arcs that would build up slowly and quietly filled up the empty space with lots to chew into it if you payed attention. Layzner lacked that degree of subtlety. Likewise the characters lacked that kind of messy depth and erracticness that made Zeta such a treat. Also, Costello's schtick got old really fast - I really wish that they had killed him off earlier, as a villain he is just too plain and one dimensional when compared to Haman, Yazan, or Jerid. Instead they decided to add on three more Costellos near the end - and while the mech porn that resulted was nice, as characters they were all really weak and out of place in a real robot show.
Still Layzner was great, the battles were on average noticeably better than Zeta's, though not quite as good as Zeta's best. Eiji and the kids all had pretty good arcs, and keeping a smaller cast helped flesh out the few characters who did stick around in a very satisfiable way. Ru Kain was a great villain with a great arc, and his interactions with his father and coming to terms with his own ideology were great. The plot itself is really interesting and pretty creative. It was cool to uncover the secret about earth and Gradosian origins along with Eiji, and they managed to push it without top many contrivances. Also, Takahashi deserves mad credit for ending the show off by saying " Fuck understanding, segregation is the way to go" - which is a pretty ballsy move to make. The mecha design was almost as good as Zeta's as well, which says allot.
Where Zeta is an A tiered Mecha tiered anime, I would probably give Layzner a B+ all in all

Fuck off, dumb ESLposter.
