Depends on what version of the original Gundam you experienced.

In the TV version, he attempts to destroy the Gundam inside of Texas colony with the Gyan. This backfires and he ends up being killed in battle with Amuro.

The Movie trilogy does not elaborate on his fate following the fall of Solomon,the last we see of him is his crew transporting Zenna Zabi and Minevia to safety. Chars Deleted Affairs seems to follow this version of him as he is killed at A.Boa.Qu in defense of the escaping fleet on route to Axis.

Regardless of version though, he does not live past the end of the One Year War.

There is one thing the animation has over Origin.

Katz, Letz, and Kikka post-Jaburo. The anime has that "Look, are you absolutely sure about this?" scene where they have to explain why this ship is keeping these orphans on board despite heading back to the battlefield.

Origin just jumps to to the flashbacks and hopes when it jumps back on the way to Odessa, no one asks questions.
