GunBuster + DieBuster (both) are my favourite anime of all time; DieBuster gets shit on a lot here for not being "as good as GunBuster" but as you can see from these pages the studio knew that; it wasn't about that. You literally have to see DieBuster to the end for it to be good and that's fine. In terms of story and spirit, GunBuster is better but I really adore the character and mech designs in DieBuster; I'm also a huge fan of the twists. I think they didn't intend people to compare DieBuster with GunBuster and instead just want to create more content in that world.

But yeah, DieBuster is definitely underrated, although taken both together, they're the best anime I've ever seen. Something about the raw spirit of humanity set against the starkness of space...Gun/DieBuster do in 6 episodes each what takes Gundam, LoGH, and Yamato 50 episodes to do.
