You get the signature gray-ish blue anti ship sword and green cannon from the strike packs, boomerangs, beam shield, physical shield, fuckhuge wings that are also wings of light, it's pointy, it's kinda slim, it's got fucking tear lines on its face.

I like the Destiny Gundam, but to me, it always felt like something was missing. I guess I would have really liked it if it had a loadout more like Destiny Impulse Custom, and could still separate into 3 parts.
But I think the big killer isn't whatever special weapon it has, just that because it doesn't have a decent fight scene in the entire series.

Thing had lightwave shields in both hands, it could have easily been tossing the shield at people, even doing the richochet-shot thing off the shield that Impulse did, and still been protected. Or it could be decking people with the shield. Or hell, cross sabers with someone, and shoot their suit to shit with the palm cannon while their arms are occupied with their saber.
Even in the boxing stuff in GBFT, they dropped the ball because while they had it using its wings while punching, they didn't replicate the after-image effect. Sure, maybe snap build doesn't get full effects, but think about it. After-image as fuck every motion it makes, and it's lobbing flurries of punches and palm-shots at you. It could be a completely broken brawler bruiser if they'd only let it be.

Bandai thought only to sell it at the exhibition, but it was literally assaulted by people who wanted this model, to the point of making three different Preorder.
I do not care about Heine, but i like this color scheme. If it had the white-fin and more red would be perfect, but the deep orange is acceptable.
I bought this one because get the Normal Destiny at decent price is almost impossible now, at least you could pre-order this variant with 160 euro and it's different from the usual blue and red parade.
Destiny could use a better color scheme, like the Strike Freedom. A bit of tweaks to the design and it'll be pretty good. Its concept is essentially the Perfect Strike, but with none of the awkwardness of the Perfect Strike(that some may feel makes it charming, ya know, jury rigged together weapons and all). The original design doesn't do it justice, thats for sure. It either needs to ditch the edgy tears or go all the way with the edge, which the MB did and actually made it rather menacing from some angles, so I'd say it kind of benefited from the edge.

Two units were initially planned, but then Haine dies and therefore his unit is left incomplete.
In short, the Destiny was not a planned for Shin in particular, It was a generic machine designed to hold together all the Strike pack and fit any pilot good enough to control it. The funny thing about all this is that ZAFT has never captured the Strike Gundam, so the fact that it is developing a ZAFT version like that has always been controversial.
Unfortunately, it's a great unit in a shitty show with dumbass pilot and bad fight scenes. It's best moment was in Try, when Shimon crushed Babilonia Team in 30 seconds with some creativity. The rest was just a big waste of potential.
Destiny is not original, but it's a very nice mix of early Seed concepts (sword backpack, blaster backpack...) wrapped with some cool edgy details (wings of lights, zeta colors, palma fiocina, talgeese II eyes). In terms of weaponry, only weak point I think is the total absence of explosives (missiles, rocket launcher, shit like that).
However, in general, it's a great suit. With Dragon Momoko's MB version, it'll be even more popular.

Strike, Impulse and Destiny are based in the same logic: multi-purpose suit using all sorts of backpacks while supporting other units around the battlefield. Each one is an upgraded version of the old one.
Strike and Strike F. are based in beam fire power and unlimited fuel while acting with their respective "partners" Justice and I.Justice (melee power and unlimited fuel).
For me, the only part where Destiny do a strange huge stepback is about the lack of a core fighter and deuterion beam. The rest is ok.

I like to think that the Strike's versatility in battle, especially with the Archangel launching Striker packs mid-battle(which the Strike and its packs weren't designed for) basically showed ZAFT and the EA what a proper multi-purpose machine with multiple loadouts can do. The GINN had different loadouts, but the differences was literally the gun that they are using. GuAIZ didn't have separate loadouts. The ZAKU had Wizard packs and the Impulse had its sillhouettes. The Strike Dagger was an interim design with no ability to mount striker packs, but its successors all could take different packs.
Basically, the Strike's ability to take Striker packs, the jury rigged together striker pack launching they did in space, the Skygrasper, they all contributed to the whole backpack based designs in Seed Destiny.
The Sillhouettes having a fighter to deliver it was probably inspired by the Skygrasper, but I'd say the Skygrasper was better since it could use the weapons on the Striker pack its carrying to provide fire support, the Skygrasper with the Launcher pack would be pretty damn devastating if it hits something with that huge gun.

A beam saber would cut cleanly, the anti-ship sword cuts and fucks the areas that got cut with its blade. Cleanly cut pipes and shit that are probably easier to fix than fucked up pipes and cables in a huge mess along the entirety of the cut.

Considering that even top notch ships like the Archangel and Minerva has limited amount of AA guns(And they aren't everywhere), the MS would probably be relatively safe as long as they don't get in front of the AA guns. The entire bottom of the Archangel and Minerva has no fucking weapons at all, for example. And the Destiny has VPS, which makes physical projectiles useless against it in the first place so those non-beam AA fire is gonna be nothing against the VPS.

The anti-ship blades aren't physical cutting weapons in and of themselves, you know. Except for the tip, there's no tapered or sharpened edge.
It's stronger. It can cut through shields and large targets like ships and mobile armors.
With their sabers Impulse and Freedom could only deal chip damage to Destroy, with Shinn causing moderate cockpit damage and Kira needing to jam his sabers point blank into the guns to cause enough damage to slowly topple the thing. Meanwhile with the ship swords Shinn could slice the entire thing in half with one go.
The only problem is the swords are poor weapons for MS dueling as sabers can easily destroy the swords.

He specifically targeted a spot he'd damaged with the saber prior though. Like how Raider knocked off Freedom's head with it's mace because half the head was already burnt off. Otherwise PS is impenetrable.
And the show confirms this since the Impulse gets a beam blade for one shot of footage that never appeared prior and never was used again just so it could take Freedom out.
