Still the best :')
>it became less confusing watching it for the 2nd time
You know, I'm kinda sick of having to bend in discussion and say well certain bits may confuse people. People like to say it only brings up points once but there are a lot it does repeat, I've seen people say Su Cordism never gets explained but it talked about every episode.
Okay the dialogue can be a bit fast sometimes (too bad video players don't have some kind of rewind function) but the show proved how little some people pay attention when they watch stuff and how little they think about it
Reco was absolutely bizarre and I liked it.
I still can't forget the mecha clapping and shit.
>I still can't forget the mecha clapping and shit.
>watch trailer, get hyped
>first two episode air, 1 is eye candy, 2 is wall bumping
>weekly watch is an incredibly frustrating experience punctuated with good moments, missed 60% of what happens
>marathon a year after, pay attention, it's pretty fulfilling aside from the messy middle
People mocked him too much for being a kuntala as a kid so he became a cunt and put a mask on to hide his shame. Also not taking care of his loyal waifu shows that the guy doesn't have his priorities straight.
I think a lot of people struggle with Greco by over thinking. They see that Greco needs you to pay attention so assume that must means it is super complex, when really Greco is a lot of simple detail that form a larger whole. I actually like this way of doing it more as it ends up feeling more cohesive than most stories that try to be very big a complex but fail to think it through.
It also doesn't help though that people will miss points which means when they then over think they just get lost and blame the show.
I can't even remember the overall plot anymore, but fucking G-Reco had such lovable characters and gdlk mecha and sound design.
My god, it's like one anime stole all the creativity and fun little things from the next.
i'm watching it now
Bellri can be a cheeky little shit at times, he's fun.
No one ever talks about the scene but I love that bit where Bellri is being interrogated by the captain and all he does is be a cheeky shit and ask questions back. It's a really good moment of defining his character
>Bellri getting bumped away
Say what you will about slapstick humour or Tomino's humour, but the little comedic touches he added in all his Gundam series really shows that he's a playful old man with a sense of humour. I love it
Tomino is at its absolute best when he's doing comedy.
The scene with Bellri throwing the manual in the cockpit only to have it come back hitting his head was hilarious in how unexpected it was.
yeah this was the bit that stuck out most to me
most of this ep is him running round pointing at things and asking questions, he's like an excitable kid.
but this really got me though, it was just the way he leaps onto screen that was funny to me. and then he yells at the crew because theyre still messing with the gselfs core fighter when theyre about to be attacked. part of me feels that despite what he says about trying to gather intel on ameria, part of him is just really excited about piloting the gundam.
I agree that it was a very simple show, but that's what I didn't like about it. It felt very shallow and barebones and it was missing the classic gundam melodrama that's been with the series since the beginning.
>The scene with Bellri throwing the manual in the cockpit only to have it come back hitting his head was hilarious in how unexpected it was.
5 pages left?!
I read it all!
>throws book and it comes back and nails him in the face
Will we ever see a mecha anime as genki as G-Reco again?
>I've seen people say Su Cordism never gets explained but it talked about every episode.
I think what people really want is an in depth explanation to how Su Cordism was implemented and why it has so many followers despite their current tech level. To me it always seemed like an easy indoctrination tool and idoltry worship isn't even all that uncommon.
That and and it seems a lot more like it's the principles they follow rather than literally praying to an elevator, even Space Pope knows photon batteries don't come from heaven.
I understand their concerns but G-Reco's pacing simply doesn't allow for the world to stop in it's tracks for a lengthy history lesson.
Because there is no need to explain about Su Cordism.
It is just a concept about an in-universe religion-like doctrine that prevent people in the Earth to research and gain access to advance technology to prevent another war through information manipulation and energy limitation.
More in-depth explanation about Su Cordism did not add anything value to the show or it story.
That's something of an unfair ask for most shows. Like in 0079 we how the Zabi's run stuff, structure of their government etc just that they are dictators and assume a lot from that. When shows do add all that stuff it usually ends up being a lot of fluff that doesn't fit all that well together, like in IBO.
I think people probably ask for more as when they are confused things become very black and white, it either has to perfectly explain stuff or it makes no sense. In general Greco has been hurt by that because of the reputation any piece that could be scrutinised is. It is also possibly because mech show attract a certain type of people who don't think of things in terms of a story put as blocks of information like specifications. That's just me musing though
Also if anyone is interested they should read up of cargo cults as there are obvious links with sucordism
Y'know throughout the entirety of G Reco I always wondered what that guy in the shades was named. Turns out he doesn't even have one, all of the Megafauna crew are named except for the Executive Officer.
That's so odd, so many more minor crew members have names
Also did the blonde in yellow (maki sole) remind anyone of that similar looking random blonde in zeta, zz and cca?
A lot of well known VAs are in G Reco but they all have tiny roles. Koyasu was only in two episodes as La Gu who has probably less than 10 lines and his assistant is Ami Koshimizu.
And then you have Chiaking as Mashner. Which was surprising since I don't think I've ever heard her use that voice before. Not so much a minor role but still surprising how I didn't recognize her.
Here you go pal. Also link
>I don't think I've ever heard her use that voice before
This is pretty true for a good number of Greco's VA. A lot of show suffer from wanting to sound a certain way cause the demographic likes the same shit repeatedly
Yeah the voice acting in G-Reco was excellent. A lot of the VAs in the show are easily recognizable, but they all gave a much different performance than they usually did. It's really refreshing.
it would be a better show if only the fucktards at sunrise didn`t decide that it would be a good idea to make this series 25 episodes only.
Because of this they had to rush the pace and a lot of people got confused, as the show have a lot of information. It should have been 50 episodes.
Why does Bell suddenly become pacifist around Episode 10?
I mean sure, he didn't like killing especially since he managed to kill like 2 named characters 5 episodes in. And he refused to shoot anyone who came out their cockpit.
But why the sudden "Don't make me kill you!" Think, when an episode earlier he was counting off kills like Amuro at Side Six.
>Why does Bell suddenly become pacifist
He never becomes a pacifist, he was always doing the don't make me kill you thing but is always willing to go for a killing blow and does so. After killing Dellensen he just talks more about not wishing to kill
>he didn't like killing especially since he managed to kill like 2 named characters
Gee I wonder if this effected his character and is the reason you are looking for
>he was counting off kills
He was attempting to disable (mostly doing so) and just keeping track
>Why does Bell suddenly become pacifist around Episode 10?
He isn't a pacifist, he is just shocked by what happened to Aida and himself and pays more attention to the consequences of his actions.
It's annoying explaining parts of Greco sometimes as the people have the pieces yet just don't seem to be able to put them together. Like people will say they get that Cumpa was doing everything from the shadows and we saw him interact with stuff all the time but why didn't h do anything?
It's like watching someone try to do one of those kid shape puzzles, they have the star pieces in their hand and go "WTF why is there nothing to put in this star shaped hole?"
Unrelated but I love seeing characters in alternate universe/non-combat situations. Maybe it's the weaboo ingrained deeply within me during my teenage years but I love it. I know that Build Fighters Valhalla proved we all want a happy ending for everyone somewhere anyway, and a nice slice of life picture for them isn't bad either.
>never get Amuro
>settle for fatty manlet
>he's constantly off doing other shit for muh AEUG
>years in mediocre marriage
>kid mouths off because you can't cook for shit
>adopted son is kill
>kikka becomes the town bicycle and everybody knows it
I kind of lost interest after Raraiya got detarded.
Watching Bell lust after Aida and the Nuggest play tard-wrangler was most of the fun for me, so I never caught up with the Venus shenanigans.
G-Reco might not be flawless but damn if it wasn't enjoyable.
Also it has an ED that's one of the catchiest songs in all of Gundam. Does anyone have the stiches from the ED? I never got to save them.
I have this
Also it is silly how nice posts about greco have to preface themselves, no gundam is flawless
Fair enough, friend. I amend my statement, G-Reco was amazing and fun, end of story. Also thanks for the pic.
I don't have them anymore sorry, but I do have this nice fanart.
just needs the clouds in the background fixing
Might as well complete the set.
>Is this just a really drawn out meme?
No, Gundam is not a meme, Patrick.
Want to fit in?
You have to
>Hate any AU gundam
>Hate BF Try
and Tomino is /m/ God so you shouldn't speak anything bad about him
Enjoy your stay
there are some interviews with yoshida where he explains the animation process. I dont think we ever go translations for them though
I understand liking Recongista because of how fucking stupid it was but how are there people legitimately trying to defend its plot and characters?
go ahead, say something bad about G-reco
many pathetic fucks here will defend this show tooth and nail
>actually liking the token baka gaijin who doesn't speak in a complete sentence the entire series
I mean....whatever floats your boat.
Will we ever get anyone to translate these shorts?
Run, little newfag, run
and never come back
This board has gone to shit town, all thanks to those tryhards who think they're special for liking G-reco
>Gundam, Guncannon, Zeta and GM in hall of fame
>no love for Guntank
See attached picture
IIRC Guntank was up there too, just dont have any screencaps with him.
Haha holy shit, there are people who like things, fuck, /m/ has really gone to shit
It's not the people who needlessly have to shit on things just because they don't like it! No it was never like that back in my day, long ago when I first came to /m/, the old days, back when build fighters was airing. Ugh those g rectals/rectards/recturds(lol cause the show is shit get it?) they make me so mad >:(
Fa only won because Kamille was handicapped. ANT's ending kinda disagrees with that, but if we stick to Zeta and ZZ, I'm sticking with the image of Kamille wishing for death while being tended to by Fa, until Stockholm syndrome finally kicks in, just before he gets better.
It was even explained why Ringo do not appear in the ending conga? He was something like a character made in the last moment for the show?
I want to believe Tomino threw this guy into the story somewhere late into rewriting it to fit the Gundam label and have a representative of Towasanga's military faction but just never went anywhere with it due to time constraints.
That or the more believable "he was just never meant to be important and him not being in the ED was an oversight".
