>DO NOT MAKE NEW GENERALS WHEN IT IMMEDIATELY REACHES BUMP LIMIT. WAIT TILL IT GETS TO PAGE 6 TO MAKE A NEW GENERAL!!!! MOD RULES!
Ahh, you missed a big opportunity, OP.
But anon, Ninnin was just a buffer season, so of course it would be shit.
Everything post-Gokai has been good in their rights as they had at least something worthwhile to keep watch. Ninnin had nothing
>In what way?
Yosuke is...hot headed.
Kouta has nothing about him.
Nanami's personality is suddenly deciding to be an idol...which barely goes anywhere.
And the Gouraigers are two edgelords.
Shurikenger is sort of decent, at least as much as you can be with his particular condition.
>How is it different from any similarly rehashed plot?
Because the Ninningers had to actually deceive the MOTW, while in Hurricanger it was just Yosuke shouting "POISON MEEEEE!!!! THIS IS TOTALLY NOT A TRAP!!!!" and worked because his enemy suddenly became a complete retard.
>I never said I don't like Sentai. Have yet to watch one I disliked.
Why hello there Corin, good to see you again. Tell me, is the IRC still shit since I've been banned for calling you off in front of your mod friends?
Cool way to eliminate the middleman of three separate members.
That would be a neat idea.
>Angel treats his/her/their QCer with respect to the point that waiting for them to come back is what's slowing LxC down
Why can't Corin be more like Angel?
Despite people not liking Grandpa spelling out the characters' character traits, I thought it was a really nice sendoff regardless. 46 was a pretty good one and Grandpa was one of my favorites.
>my grandfather died a few years ago
>mfw watching 46
Toq was great
in my personal opinionyou flaming cunt and you have every right to disagree as I can see why people may find it boring or poorly written although I resonate a lot with the show
>toei clearly cockblocked kobayashi from making toq great.
Which was infinitely worse than Go-busters, which was just as good if not better thean gokaiger
>ninniggers not absolute shit even compared to the retard train squad
Because they've been using the same style of making model cities since Gojira
I guess it's probably cheaper since she's a character exclusive to this one movie and they're never going to use her again.
Her ninja outfit is terrible. I guess she's a Ninja Idol but they just took the regular ninja outfit and sewed frills onto it.
My grandfather died about two years ago and we were really close. Grandpa in Ninin is literally what my grandpa looked like, just Asian, so it was basically like seeing him again which made me happy for a while. I feel you man.
That's a very broad way to describe them.
Yousuke is very much Sasuke 2.0. The only thing dragging him down is that Shun Shioya isn't nearly as charismatic as Teruaki Ogawa.
Nanami is the team girl. It's unfortunate, but it's not a Hurricanger problem; it's a sentai problem.
Kouta has a lot of character to him. He's the heart of the team. While he was a bit of a prude and could be as hard headed as Yousuke, he was the voice of reason of the three and seriously valued hard work. I remember a big part of the show before they got too far into the Gouraiger arc was Yousuke and Kouta bumping heads. Saying he had nothing about him is very disingenuous.
The Gouraigers, while somewhat similar and undeniably edgelords, didn't stop them from being interesting. Ikkou was the cold, but ultimately soft older brother. Isshu was the tempermenal, but eternally loyal younger brother. As someone who is very close with my own brother, I found them very relatable characters.
Shurikenger was definitely interesting. He was eccentric, but cool; wise; but a doofus; close, but always aloof. He was very much a mentor to the group. I enjoyed his mysteriousness and how it shaped his relationships with Gozen and the other rangers.
The characters are not bland. They're stock, like most other sentai characters. I can say the same for any sentai from Liveman to Kakuranger to Megaranger, It's always about the actors. I've already conceded that Shioya is no Ogawa, but I found all of the actors competent and believable. There are worse ninja sentai characters to be sure with characters like Seikai or Fuuka.
I have a question. How come the military doesn't get involved when the monster of the day grows huge? Like, the Japanese Special Defense Force appear in Ultraman, Godzilla and Gamera and other giant hero series, but why no tanks against like, Dora Titan?
>Yousuke is very much Sasuke 2.0.
Without the badass part.
> It's unfortunate, but it's not a Hurricanger problem; it's a sentai problem.
Watch any Soda show.
>He's the heart of the team.
That usually means "he has no personality" but ok
>As someone who is very close with my own brother, I found them very relatable characters.
I am too, but they were barely brothers. Any brother sentai did those better.
>I can say the same for any sentai from Liveman to Kakuranger to Megaranger
Not if you actually watched them.
>How come the military doesn't get involved when the monster of the day grows huge?
For the sake of narrative practicity most of those details on these shows are skipped. Although many of the earlier sentai are a military division, like sun Vulcan or Changeman.
That said, they are fucking useless most of the time in Ultraman so its good they arent active.
and Time Forcehad a paramilitar organization fighting the monsters.
YET, in other shows, the Police fucking brawl with the grunt soliders while the heros fight the main villain of the show. Example that comes to mind is Monster Prince and Spectreman.
>Japanese military sucked at combating Godzilla.
>Japanese military sucked at combating other Kaiju in ultraman.
>Japanese military doesn't even bother anymore in sentai.
truly what a fantastic tale.
This reminds me why I love Dekaranger so much. The support officers actually do take care of the grunts while the main team deal with the MOTW. Biggest example is in the finale where they fought for control of the base, even then there are small instances where they show doing small case work such as store robbery or damage control
>Okay, no memes when you respond because I really want to know this.
You came to the wrong place if you wanted legit answers in anything related to PR.
>When compared side by side, which Power Rangers adaptations are at least as good as their original Sentai counterparts?
First, PR is not an adaptation, and secondly, the ones that are betteer are Zeo, In Space, ninja Storm and RPM. As for the ones that comes close there are SPD and Jungle Fury.
>Not if you actually watched them.
Any sentai ranger can be boiled down to stock traits. Soda is a great plotter and can write good characters, but he relies on character tropes just like any other toku writer. Let's not treat this shit like Crime and Punishment.
>You came to the wrong place if you wanted legit answers in anything related to PR.
Well I'm not going to /prg/
Also I didn't mean adaptation per se because I'm fucking retarded and can't remember my vocabulary.
Is RPM turboranger or carranger (I assume it's a vehicle sentai)?
I know ToQ 6's one note is that he wants to die in the glory of battle but I don't think he's ever tried to kill himself.
You're not wrong
They should all have one distinct color no distinct colors. It's just my opinion, but I wish they could be consistent. Dekaranger already gives me enough headaches.
As for ZyuTheWorld, he's mainly black and changes colour depending on the mode.
Toq-1 and HurricaneRed are red but also have black versions (and Toq 1 a rainbow and different coloured versions) so its not the first time a ranger changes a colour.
Gokai Silver has a gold mode too.
Has there ever been a ranger that had a different colored helmet then their color designation? That's what drives me crazy really. >>13852497 came to the same conclusion I did, but it's still kind of a gray zone. I assume Rhino is his primary form, right?
Those are both of my posts btw.
>Has there ever been a ranger that had a different colored helmet then their color designation?
Not that I recall. Aside form Dekamaster that is.
Although a good part of Kibaranger and Big One's helmet is not white so there's that.
>I assume Rhino is his primary form, right?
Well, it's the one in the middle so yeah, kind of like ZyuEagle's default form is the eagle.
I have only seen Dino Charge and Ninja Storm from PR. So far Dino charge is not as good as Kyoryuger
Ninja Storm didn't have a consulates plot like Hurricaneger and was better in that regard. But the episode plots it copied from Hurricaneger were all inferior. An I found a lot of the dialogue incredibly cringeworthy. So I prefer Hurri. Though I will say Ninja Storm had the better final battle and uniforms
Whoever said Nagi said he was the Comedic Last Ninja last thread fucked up their translation royally. He said he was going to be the ラストおぜんだて忍者. Ozendate being Backup, Set-Up, Support. It was the whole basis of episode 24 and used repeatedly in it.
Sculpted lips in Helmets! How do you feel about them? Going by just this picture alone, they looked great in Zyu but awful in Gosei and Kyoryu. I think it had to do with how young the Goseigers actors were and how masculine and bold the face plates were.
My two favorite helmet designs are Shinken and Gokai, neither of which have sculpted in lips.
What do you prefer? Lips or no lips?
It was alright
Nothing really happened story wise, but the characters and MOTW were fun.
I liked the suit designs, Shurikenjin was shit, Lion Ha-Oh was meh but Gekiatsu Dai-Oh was really good.
The villains had a lot of wasted potential, I liked Ariake no Kata though.
Kyueemon was pretty alright.
Not great, mediocre at best.
It was fun to watch and it had cool robots and fun toys. Except for Kinji, none of the characters really got a complete character arc and what little development they got fell totally flat. Important events were badly timed and the villains were all totally wasted, though I thought the yokai designs were fun and silly. Ariake and Gabi Raimon went out like chumps.
Coming off ToQger, Ninnin was something of a disappointment.
At least we got Kinji and Dadninger out of it.
Dadnin is at least better than Yakumo. Even without his nintality he managed to use ninpo one out of sheer force of will.
Probably doesn't look as good in a dress and wig as Yakumo does, though.
If you had to describe Sentai to someone, Ninninger would be it.
It never really deviates from what it sets out to do and never really tests the waters with anything, it just goes with the flow and stays on course following what a Sentai is. The obvious exception with this was the returning ninja cameos from Sentai and Metal Hero, but even those just had a feeling of "Even though they're here it just feels like you met someone's old friend rather than another hero".
They had a problem at the start where they were pushing traits onto their characters hard(Yakumo and Takeru were the most grating of the bunch), but then around episode 8 or 9 they realized "Holy crap, we made a huge mistake" and started easing off of it while also working with their actors which really helped in the long run and made Takaharu's catchphrase way better(>>>/wsg/939858).
The enemies felt like they were dicking around more than trying to cause chaos, especially Kyuuemon who was trying to go behind everyone's back constantly rather than gather fear after Ariake was brought into the picture.
"Foreign Yokai" felt like it would be a longer plot point than simply MOTW, Gengetsu feels like a chump even though they've shown him shrugging off grandpa, and Kinji's sword felt like others used it more and better than him.
It was an okay season, but nothing more than that.
Kinji = Kasumi > Yakumo > Takaharu > Nagi = Fuuka for how much I liked them in the end.
What is the weirdest theme for a sentai any sentai has had? I mean we've had cops and dinos and cars but anything really out there?
Also what was the theme for the first sentai (gorenger I think?)
Goranger was more of a spy show, since those were all the rage back then. As for the weirdest theme, I'd probably give it to Goseiger, or maybe even Go-Onger. Aside from the base level of car shit, it's pretty out there.
Riders are strong enough to take on any individual sentai member by themselves since sentai are more meant to work as a team, each individual unit not being enough to beat the big bad of their own show (in theory)
Ultramen can just get big and stomp everyone until the sentais get their mechs going, then it's more of skill if one bane can beat five people controlling another bane
When it comes to mech-scale fights and the like you're not really going to see a Rider try and punch Ultraman's foot, they'd either have to take down the others before they get big/get mechs or put in focused attacks on weak points on the mechs/men
It really all comes down to who's abilities would be useful against whatever situation the others would bring upon them
This works too.
For Riders you have Gaim who is basically (a weak) fruit space jesus and Riders 1/2 are intentionally supposed to be the goku/superman of Rider where their power levels are literally just "they're strong enough to beat the bad guy and save the day"
Kuuga and Agito are basically gods who constantly evolve, Black/RX is another jesus who can constantly resurrect as long as the sun exists and survive/repel most attacks, Decade is literally perfect and basically hasn't been touched in a fight in any movie since his show ended, most of the other Riders have shown to be pretty powerful as well such as Hibiki and Hyper Kabuto but aren't particularly god-tier
Magiranger basically had an amazing OST. I remember at the 2:40 mark, shit gets real and I think that point was associated with the Pantheon attacking the upper world, shit was hype.
Actually, there's some blink and you miss it moments in the episodes before Jin and J enter the picture where you can see Enter stealing Buster Data. If not for the rewrite, I'm sure Dark Buster would have shown up earlier.
>"Now that the secret is out, here is a presentation video of Midoninger as well as some precisions about the story.
>Two years after the last episode, Sakurako Igasaki (Takaharu and Fuka’s mother), creates an idol band called Ninnin Girls, composed of NinninWhite (Fuka), NinninPink (Kasumi) and NinninGreen (Luna), a newcomer. But Takaharu is not ok with this ! If the girls have their own band, so must the boys ! That how the Ninnin Boys will be born !
>But something unforeseen happens : Ariakeno Kata and Kyuemon come back ! The Ninningers go back into action but Luna is nothing but an idol, she can’t fight. But thanks to the Midoninger Shuriken and Kyuemon’s Nintality, she becomes Midoninger ! His/her roll call is « Tagiru Izayoi » : the seething moon."
Trash, it felt like Decade, you could skip to the final two episodes and not miss a thing.
Every interesting enemy that was introduced is killed off immediately, and the lead villains are an objective downgrade from the Shadow Line, who had their own little conflicts between each other which made them much more interesting. They had Schwartz who came into conflict with Akira etc.
The final boss went down like a jobber, after they build him up as a big deal with their ground fight, and having him
kill off grandpa.
Kyuemon had the potential to be like Enter, but they made her go AWOL for half of the series and do nothing of note. The "plot twist" regarding her is stupid as fuck and didn't change anything, they could have just left it out.
Takaharu is atrocious, both in acting and character, he does everything Daigo did with less enthusiasm. Nagi did fucking nothing for the entire series, Kinji became boring very quickly after being introduced, Fuuka was there to get abused, Yakumo was boring and existed to go EZ DANA, and Kasumi only served to occasionally deliver a plot device to solve the problem of the week.
At the very least in ToQger we had a relationship develop between Tokatti and Mio.
The action was nothing special, certainly not a reason to watch it over something else.
The pacing is ass, they introduce what seem like large arcs but completely fuck them up by having them resolved in one or two episodes. Kinji suffered most from this with his rushed American Yokai arc. Afterwards it's back to filler, guest appearances and clip shows, (I think we had three of them.)
I know it's all opinion, but I honestly disliked it. It felt like an obligation rather than something I'd look forward to every week. I watched it to check it off the list, I don't think I'd be able to get through it otherwise.
>Kinji suffered most from this with his rushed American Yokai arc.
They also make it go too long like the "Holy crap I'm turning into a Yokai" arc and he keeps trusting Kyuuemon after he got betrayed what, three times?
Zyuoh King candy toy going up for presale for those of you interested (although I haven't seen anyone other than myself talk about them).
The first wave has Eagle in two seperate boxes, SHAKKU, Lion, and the question mark cube giraffe bazooka.
you should seriously consider stalking ebay like a hawk because they are so much fun. just built a gozyujin and have gokaioh, shinkenoh, and daikaioh in the mail. maybe shouldn't have bought so much...
1. probably half the size, if not a third
2. made exclusively of plastic, no die cast
3. comes on plastic runners and requires assembly
4. no paint apps, heavy sticker reliance
1. CRAZY articulation compared to dx. moving swiveling arms biceps shoulders feet and toes, everything about the articulation is better.
2. some people like the smaller scale, about the size of an HG gundam
3. i find the building experience fun.
The 1966 Ultraman rearranged a bunch of stars like it was nothing. In KR Agito the equivalent to god only managed that with a lot of effort that it left himself vulnerable. Of course the '66 show is just weird all over considering that Ultraman later struggles against Gomora despite it just being a "normal" kaiju.
if i were to take a guess without seeing the runners, it looks like each cube is getting three colors of plastic a piece, which is a big improvement over the past years where each component only had two or even just one. tiny details such as the black feathers on the chest, the black on the kneecaps, and the shiny metallic parts of the giraffe and mecha head will definitely be stickers, but if you don't want to use any it should still look cool
>Kyuemon had the potential to be like Enter, but they made her go AWOL for half of the series and do nothing of note. The "plot twist" regarding her is stupid as fuck and didn't change anything, they could have just left it out.
Idols will consume the remnants of Japan. When all the elderly die, idols will come out of the shadows, take control and enslave the male populace to be their fuck toys. Normal girls will be split into those who can idol and those who can't. Those who can't are made to be forced labor. The dark days will come.
Eh, he's a fox; this kind of thing is bound to happen. Plus, Megumi Han.
>The top half of the helmet is pulled back to reveal the wolf
>The bottom half of the helmet is pulled up to reveal the Crocodile
>The Rhino and Croc parts have holes the let the red eyes poke through
For anyone who cares, it seems like Super Sentai Battle Base DX is ending it's service. All unused Ranger Coins can be refunded.
I know Kamen Rider has a couple mobage. Has Sentai got any more?
>She never got an adult form
What a shame.
>tfw they never acknowledge this ever again after the finale where they hold hands as kids
While I am normally on board with killing hippies, if you DON'T kill him, you get to see him get beat up in every episode, which appeals to me slightly more.
Just run a train on him every episode. Take him down to poundtown.
>also i hope the dude with the wierd hair dies soon or something, he looks like a dirty hippie.
Nice b8 opinion son.
That's probably it. Maybe the engineering and production cost involved with putting working ankles and wrist joints isn't a worthwhile investment when they can make money off of plastic swords and masks.
But maybe it also has to do with tradition. Kids grew up with chunky diecast toys with blocky proportions and limited articulation. Maybe a toy feels more like a giant robot if it is a big, immovable thing that can move its arms at the most.
Here's a sketch, but it's too much like GaoRanger.
Do you mean this 4+5+6 mech? I'm 99% sure that's what comes in the Candy Toy Set 02.
That set's already up for preorder, but there aren't any pictures of what's actually in it yet.
Lasso and whip is a bit redundant. I think we'd need more melee weapons like maybe a rail way hammer (if we go with folklore themed heroes than that Ranger could be john Henry.) and maybe replace sword with Axe or Hachet.
Their final attack could be a bazooka that shots branding iron with the teams logo.
What colours should Frontier Sentai Texas Ranger have?
I bad actually had a similar idea from a while ago, but had a gecko and a rattle snake instead of the horse and dude.
One of my autistic pastimes is coming up with Sentai names that have a good cadence to them. How does "Seibu Sentai Starranger" sound?
This. It might have more than made up for Abaranger's attempt at a female Tranza. I bet the execs/producer prevented this somehow.
Have a sixth member that initially behaves like Sundown's rival in Live A Live and you got yourself a deal.
I think the characters could be a Sheriff, a Native American tribe man, A bull rider, a Gambling man (who cheats and uses cards as a weapon), A lone rider type, A miner, A showgirl and a railway worker.
The Lone Rider type could be a Bangai hero or the leader.
I don't know how to fit the colours.
The mechs could be like >>13854171
suggested but a bit tweaked: a cowboy, a Bison, An Eagle (for america), A mountain lion, a coyote (the horse will come later). The base weapons could be a gattaling gun/six shooter arm with a sheriff star shield. They could all be the rangers spirit animals with the cowboy one controling the heart of the west.
Extra mechs could be a huge horse they could ride that can combine to make armour, A train that can become a shot gun or the a bunch of trains that become the secondary mech, a chain sword cactus and a rattlesnake whip/lasso.
>Doubutsu Sentai Zyuohger - Fighting Action Robo Yuudou Zyuoh King (CANDY TOY)
Can someone tell me about these kinds of toys? What are they like?
Personally, it feels more like a more modern take on Voltes V.
>heroes are a family or like one
>commander/scientist(s) is/are related to the heroes
>main scientist abandoned his family for an unspecified amount of time in the name of justice
>the main villains are mostly honorable or are otherwise very loyal to their cause
>head honcho villain is an irredeemable cunt that treats their family like disposable garbage
Let's have the monsters be wanted criminals all part of some sort of Kaijin gang. The generals (or Gang leaders) could all be family.
Each one can have a "dead or alive: bounty on their head which is why they keep running into the lone rider.
One episode could play on this with one of the monsters of the week be "Wanted: Alive"
Sheriff should be Red or Gold.
One of the mechs final attacks could be a lynching using the rattlesnake.
Miners mechs could be a prairie dog, a mine cart and have several different battle modes like the lobster mech in shinkenja based on different rare materials. Bronze, Silver and Gold.
Candy toys are pretty great. They're basically really simple snapfit kits that come on two or three runners. Usually they'll only be molded in two colors per box, but they come with lots of stickers that usually do a great job at covering for the missing colors. Plus, all the detail is molded in, so if you're good at painting they'll look fantastic once painted. This is what Go-BusterOh can look like with nothing but paint.
Articulation-wise, candy toys blow DX out of the water, and this is the big reason to collect them. Most can do fully dynamic posing in the base robot form, and depending on the design even the final form can be really nicely articulated. Sometimes they even take a few liberties with the design. SamuraiHaoh is notable for this, they modified it so it actually has legs.
Horizon Sentai Frontier V
Red Seeker: Out of luck bounty hunter who stumbles upon the cursed town.
Blue Marshal: The town's quickest draw and original line of defense.
Yellow Rider: Hefty farm worker looking to protect the free spirit of the west.
Green Scout: Young man who hears the voice of the Earth and springs into action at earliest opportunity.
Black Forger: Female blacksmith looking to keep the only home and people she's ever known safe.
Their leader: A benevolent Eagle spirit who takes the guise of the town drunk in order to hide in plain sight.
Villain: Wandering Mystic who finds out the town is literally sitting on a hotbed of planetary energy and will do anything to get to it.
Grunts: Horse based. Good while they last but when beaten are useless.
MOTW: Based on Native American folklore in order to place blame on the local shaman who has harbored a long grudge towards the town.
Extra member: Sunset Shaman
A female scholar of the town who left to live with the natives returns upon the Big Bad's mid-season upgrade to help out the team. Comes with her own Spirit Coyote Mech.
>MOTW: Based on Native American folklore in order to place blame on the local shaman who has harbored a long grudge towards the town.
>Extra member: Sunset Shaman
Gee, I wonder how this will turn out.
Oh, yeah, that's the other thing. There's often a separate candy toy release of the combined form that's as high articulation and show-accuracy as it gets, but can't combine or anything.
This is the set that combine and have all the transformation gimmicks. As they release more mechs in the line, this one will be able to combine with them.
One of the issues I find with something like a western Sentai is why they would be in Japan. None of these concepts have accounted for that. Unless I'm mistaken, every show has had the team of mostly Japanese people protecting a vague Japanese city. What's your premise?
If they can get away with a ninja cowboy, and romanticizing a murderer I'm pretty sure they can handle a Cowboy theme.
That Rhino face is pissing me off. The horns are completely wrong.
>Doubutsu Sentai Zyuohger - Mini-Pla Doubutsu Gattai Series 01 Jyuoh King 12Pack BOX (CANDY TOY)(Pre-order)
What does this mean? Is it just that it includes all 12 packs to make up for the entire mech, so like a complete set? Or do I buy 12 fucking robots?
>a separate candy toy release of the combined form that's as high articulation and show-accuracy as it gets, but can't combine or anything.
Is that the cheaper of the two, or the more expensive one?
Oh my god, I hope this happens.
And I hope that World has different powers based on his three animals.
>Is called The World
>Isn't Blue and Green
>not wanting Sentai idolshit
The single one is cheaper than the combining one, so if you only ever want to have ZyuohKing and you don't care about anything else it combines with, it's the better buy. If you want to have all the mechs, you'll want the individual releases.
It might be
But it's another one of those 12 packs. I don't see any single versions of all the 10/12 pack stuff.
And yet, the only other one that can do this will be red. Everyone else will be left in the dust.
amiami et al. doesn't sell individual candy toys. You have to buy a whole case. If you don't want duplicates, you'll either have to find someone to split it with or try looking formthem on ebay.
No. They sell these at places like 7-11. The retailer gets a box of 12 that rips open to form a mini display case. Amiami sells what the retailers get from the distributor, they don't break down the cases.
