Are there any mecha related shows/movies that /m/ unamiously likes besides Turn A Gundam? Just curious. This isn't me trying to shit on Turn A either. I just want to know.
Turn A was fucking shit.
And the answer is zeta, votoms, and LOGH.
Nobody on /m/ could hate these shows, they are some of the best things anime fucking made to begin with.
LOGH at least.
How fucking new are you.
Maybe once kids started coming here who cant sit through something good.
Zeta was /m/'s symbol, haman was its queen.
Sooner or later votoms will be hated.
/m/ is full of tryhard shitposters and edgelords. Liking things isn't allowed.
It always was, Its the black sheep of gundam. Nobody can seriously like all the characters in that shit comedy show, it even ruined almost all the characters from the series before it.
It's literally babby's first politics.
>Its famous because its that good.
It's famous because of the Seinfeld effect.
Some people sat through all of it and refuse to come to terms with the notion that their series is actually not "that good", but due to the ungodly amount of time invested, they can't acknowledge that they wasted so much time.
No, and no. Nothing is unanimously liked. There are some fandoms that are in denial about the existence of people who don't like their shows and always assume the person with the low opinion is trolling (Turn A) or stupid (G-Reco) but for every show there is someone who loves it and someone who hates it.
Except Astro Plan. No one likes that.
This is literally what the thread is about. The zeta hating kids are here, then it is hated by someone on /m/. It has nothing to do with the show's actual quality or how kawaii your waifu is.
>it's famous because it's good
It's famous because it's the most mainstream way of passing yourself off as having patrician taste.
Oddly enough it is now the biggest flag for a person not actually having their own developed taste in anime. There's a joke about how the average 3x3 is just 8 random shows and LoGH in the middle.
Are you fucking saying it's bad?
you don't even make sense, If it was bad nobody would fucking like it.
It's freaking one of the most well made anime ever. and it can never be done again, today companies that aren't shounen could never be this complex.
I know you trolling but "Seinfeld effect" really?
yah i dont like it much.
i love zeta and zz
but i think Votoms is the universal like and if you dont like it I cant help you.
Its not ever fucking hipster, it's a old as fuck sci-fi only hardcore nerds would watch.
If your saying it shows you have simple taste, when people watch the most retarded shit today, then I just don't know.
It's a fucking anime, for one its amazing.
I'm not some die hard fan, I read books and have tons of other hobbies.
But looking at it, thats how good It is.
Okay name something else in this fucking day and age of shitty overused highschool student plotlines or anything anime that comes even close too it.
>Are you fucking saying it's bad?
Did I say that? No.
I'm not trolling at all. I don't think Seinfeld is terrible or bad either, but it certainly isn;t all it's cracked up to be. Frasier is the vastly superior sitcom.
That or The Room.
I'm talking about people with some form of taste that can tell the difference of something well done.
The more you read, the more you nit pick and grow, the better you see things.
When I talk about LOGH in this way, I'm talking about how complex and well made it was as a anime and its genre. I dont think any anime could match it. Anime is far too long gone and very simple with a lot of stereotypes and cliches, plus nobody likes taking risks in japan.
>then saying you have any room to talk about taste
I don't have a reaction image suitable enough for this level of unfounded cocksureness, so here's Cirno.
>Okay name something else in this fucking day and age of shitty overused highschool student plotlines or anything anime that comes even close too it.
You said "most well made," that has to do with production quality rather than narrative content.
>Its not ever fucking hipster, it's a old as fuck sci-fi only hardcore nerds would watch.
Problem with that is you're on fucking 4chan, where LoGH is so mainstream that it makes people like you sound like a colossal idiot.
When the LoGH books start rolling out I hope someone starts a flamewar between it and Yukikaze in some bizarre cock measuring contest of which was the better Japanese SF.
LOGH is mainstream on 4chan only BECAUSE it's good and not outright hated. Think about that, nowhere else watches old anime because a lot of other places have younger kids that would say "lol its old and boring".
It's the same with zeta, its become the mainstream gundam, but only on fucking 4chan.
>When the LoGH books start rolling out I hope someone starts a flamewar between it and Yukikaze in some bizarre cock measuring contest of which was the better Japanese SF
That does seem like it'd be pretty tasty.
>Its the best gundam show with the best and most famous characters with the best tone of the whole fucking series.
That's 0079, dumbass. Especially the first part. OBFUCKINGJECTIVELY the first part. How many casual fags do you know who know Char? Now how many know Kamille. See, genius?
Ok its time to say how I feel about all this zeta shit.
Zeta was never hated on /m/, it was /m/'s secret gundam masterpiece club and haman was our secret waifu. Then the rest of 4chan found out and its not our secret club anymore and char became a laughing man meme . So instead of being happy others are watching something actually good unlike shitty AU gundam, /m/ (mostly newfags and young kids who think they are edgemasters) try to hate on it.
>le all UC good and all UC bad meme
AU is trash for the masses.
G gundam is far too fun because fun things are fun to count, so I leave that out. Everything else just jumps on the gundam band wagon but with more edge and boyband main characters for fujoshi.
VOTOMS is too good.
I would never hate it, even if it was on Thinkgeek, in Time magazine, top rated on MAL and Facebook, watched by everyone with internet, popular on tumblr, and had buzzfeed videos that theorized that everyone in it was gay and transexual.
Yeah you fucking would, because people like you care about that shit.
Yeah , thats what we thought about zeta and even for a time LOGH was a niche secret club.
When people find better shit, they only climb higher. Its why most people who watched 1980's anime after all the retarded shit from the early 2000's, they give up anime. It happened to mean and it happens all the time. then they move onto manga, then visual novels, then they actually have to read western books. Thats 4chan.
I am neutral at best towards everything mentioned in this thread.
By my very existence /m/ does not universally like any of these shows.
Sorry to piss on your cornflakes. My tastes are beyond yours.
>Its why most people who watched 1980's anime after all the retarded shit from the early 2000's
I've watched anime from all decades and they're all overly derivative, badly written, boring garbage. The 80s isn't special or any better regardless of whatever retarded excuses you feel like making up. Novels are the only medium of entertainment that is any good or worth bothering with.
No one can hate the original GBF
It's just too much fun to hate
>name something else in this fucking day and age of shitty overused highschool student plotlines or anything anime that comes even close too it.
>It means you gave up on the shitty anime of now and live in the past when it was at least decent like the rest of us
Don't put words in my mouth, faggot. And don't you dare have delusions of anime ever having been decent; it has always been and always will be irrefutably garbage. Keep on shitposting though, I'm sure it'll get you somewhere.
>Yet your still here? It means you gave up on the shitty anime of now and live in the past when it was at least decent like the rest of us.
Not that guy but I've watched anime from all decades too both good and bad and will continue to do so.
I'm here because of the odd decent conversation
>We all moved on to better things.
If you moved on to better things I think the question is what are "you" doing here
I've been here since forever, from old /jp/ too.
I'm not sure about neo zeta hating /m/ but /jp/ and /m/ had a strong bond because we are both outcasts and old. /jp/ likes zeon and zeta just as much as /m/ did.
>Number 8 on MyAnimeList's top anime
How does it feel now that filty normie plebs are watching your precious special snowflake sekrit anime?
Come over to the big /m/en's club and watch true hipster anime like Taekwon V and Ginguiser!
Steins gate being that high is kinda sad. I loved the VN but come on its way too new. but there are far worse things with that fucking list. Is this site for normals? I never used it. To be honest LOGH really stands out there, it seems really odd with all those other really choices \ And you know what I'm a bit happy about it.
It just shows that even a "old" anime with these freaking retards, can actually make them watch it if its best of the best.
>Gintama landing four different entries in the top 10
I had no clue it was that big.
>Oh wait I guess it's too new for your hipster ass huh?
Or he probably thinks it hasn't been around long enough to really evaluate whether or not it should be considered the greatest anime ever made.
I almost feel like Turn A and LoGH are rated so highly/not challenged as often because not as many people have watched the entirety of either. I hear all the time of people who rate Turn A very high but didn't like it's pacing/quit. And others who respect the hell out of LoGH (mostly because of the screencaps always posted) but never bothered watching all of that either.
Regardless I feel that all 3 shows are very high quality and 0080 and Turn A being pretty stand out in terms of quality of thier franchise
I think the second film sucks as a Patlabor entry. Too much lolOshii, not enough fun.
I want to believe TNGPat rectifies this but no one cares about TNGPat, what a goddamn tragedy.
>Its the best gundam show with the best and most famous characters with the best tone of the whole fucking series.
It's a shitty, meandering version of 0079 with marginally better animation and the only reason people recognize it is because of memes. I know it's memes because people think Char had enough willpower in his midlife crisis to go around laughing at people.
Oh, and Zeta's popularity on /m/ is because of crossboarding /v/irgins who watched the compilation movies.
oo oo me!
I'm sure I'll come off as an ADD moron but the OVA was just too slow and dry for me.
TV version was dumbed down for idiots like me, but I still didn't like it. Shitty animation and monster of the week plots.
The movie looks amazing but I remember not following or liking the plot much.
>then they actually have to read western books
Fuck that. /lit/ has its head so far up its own ass that I'm now hesitant to pick up a book or discuss literature with anyone because of how god damn pretentious literary types are.
People who think books are inherently superior to anime have lost any concept of entertainment their inner children once had and their opinions are therefore invalidated.
If I want a coherent, well-written depiction of something that happened in real life, yeah I'd rather read non-fiction than watch a documentary BUT if I have nothing productive to do and I WANT to be entertained you bet your ass I'm not gonna pick up some fucking Hemmingway and pretend I'm better for it. I'm gonna watch some goddamn robot cartoons.
>I'm now hesitant to pick up a book
This is fucking stupid. Giving a FUCK about what anyone, especially anyone on /lit/, thinks is disdainful and you shouldn't.
>or discuss literature with anyone because of how god damn pretentious literary types are.
This is excusable. The fix? Don't discuss with those types.
>if I have nothing productive to do and I WANT to be entertained you bet your ass I'm not gonna pick up some fucking Hemingway* and pretend I'm better for it.
I've read many books because I had time to kill, and had a blast. I even greatly enjoyed some Hemingway too. I love me some robots too, and I've watched some great shit that has "literary value" although I'm not watching it for that, I'm watching for what I can WATCH. But in my opinion the bookfags' greatest flaw is that they (well, most of them) prioritize the narrative (and how the wordsmithing enhances that) above all else.
Kinda rambling here, but you know how a picture can paint a thousand words? Imagine how much a video says.
Not that that's even all that important, or that different mediums shouldn't be compared (I believe they should), but to expect to get the same things from each is silly and infantile.
>reading anything other than the Gundam and Robotech novels
>unironically being a nerd
nice fedora kid
There is no show that everyone likes. There are people who dislike Turn A, you shitter. I don't personally dislike it, but I can see why some people doesn't like it.
There are some shows that are not hated by anyone though. Some people might find them just alright, but I don't think anyone in their right mind hates these:
