noted, that's only relevant to the novel version of Sayla. As far as any animation is concerned, the same applies to Sayla having sex with Amuro, no other version suggests they ever got that far together.
Second, she never gave him the amulet. That was the whole point of that segue - everyone was surprised that he and Sayla were hitting the sheets, but she never gave him one. He tried to ask and the whole thing got awkward as Hell and she decided not to take part in the whole practice. He then lied to everyone and said he got them anyway.

Stop feeding into the culture of spreading misinformation about things because people either didn't see/read them or didn't bother to pay attention.

Zeon probably blows their whole defense budget on Mobile Suit development and leave their footsoldiers high and dry in favor of wonder weapons.
That said, they do have body armor in the manga. The anime just uses the standard UC uniform design to be consistent with the rest of the franchise.
