It's fine that the story and characters are simple (in fact to many stories shouldn't try to force all other shit when it isn't needed) but when that goes on for a long while stuff sort of has to develop a bit more. It feels very back and fourth

Technically it's true due to logistics. The GMs and Gundams are near-twins with parts that can probably be traded in and out with minimal effort, since they're all descendants of the same Federation V project. You pilot one, you've essentially piloted them all.

Conversely, Zeon MS are all private contractor bids, each with their own technology and parts (Zeonic, Zimmad, MiP, etc.) and entire model lines built for specific purposes (like the Gouf being a near-completely close-combat MS). It wasn't until the final stages of the war that Zeon gets its shit together and demands the contractors stick to the United Mainenance Plan to simplify the logistical train and so that pilots don't get a different operating system each time they pilot a new machine..

Ok so major changes are:

-Fight at the start was new
-Parts of chapter 5 are used in this episode
-Chapter 6 is almost completely omitted, I think only his addicted line made it through which makes Io seem like a worse person than he actually is.
-The Sniper battle between chapter 7-9 has many alterations, notably Shawn dying, Io being way more blood thirsty, and Daryl losing an arm in the battle (he originally threw the cracker before Io got near him, getting away unscathed).
-The fleet battle in chapter 10 happens at the same time as the sniper battle in the anime. Notable alterations are the Federation steamrolling Zeon in this version (draw in the manga), omitting a few cool sequences, and Daryl not losing an arm while staying in a capsule (the capsule area is still hit in the anime, however).
-Chapter 11 had minor alterations, but nothing of note.
-Chapter 12 had a chunk of it happen at the start of the episode (Io's fathers suicide), the rest hasn't happened yet.
-Chapter 13 didn't have Daryl's promotion party, an cut straight to his amputation sequence (it was less solemn in the manga), and the launch sequence for the Psyco Zaku with a few bits omitted.

Mk-II flew past the entire distance of a colony while only accelerating for a matter of seconds, turned on a dime, and flew back over the span of three seconds or so, and that suit is considered only marginally faster than the highest-tier OYW suits, thruster output and weight-wise. This isn't new animation either; this is Zeta.

What Full Armor TB Sector Gundam did was just make a lot of turns while already at a decent speed (keep in mind, you only slow down in space if you decelerate in the opposite direction, changing direction doesn't do much.) You could do that shit in the vanilla RX-78-2 if really necessary. The issue is you also can't shoot anything because you're moving at a rate where the targeting computer can't compensate for movement at that speed, so nobody really does unless they're pulling evasive maneuvers against an enemy that can snipe them (like Io was.)

Forgot to mention that for those who think they won't have time to animate everything, a good chunk of chapters 13-27 is just straight up fighting, so it probably will fit in the 2 remaining episodes.

It's a bit disappointing episodes have 19 minute run times. With 5-10 they could almost do a perfect adaptation of those early chapters.

Yes and no. What we see as animated, sunrise is inserting it into the original gundam lore to make it fit. For example the guntank and its history are different in the Origin Manga compared to the original MSG. To reconcile that, in The Origin animation, the guntank is referred to as the "early type" to differentiate it from the classic guntank yet both design exist now. Similarly, for TB sunrise cut out all the parts that may interfere with the original series. In TB the thunderbolt versions of zakus and gms replace what we see in the tv series. For the anime, they are just variants those existng units.

Very disappointing. I can see now that I was right about this not going anywhere and using shock concepts to keep the viewer's attention.
