>mfw i just got to the twist in shinkenger
What the actual flying fuck, i was not expecting that shit
Shuriken Sentai Ninninger vs Ressha Sentai ToQger: Ninja in Wonderland opened at #3 during the weekend box office earning ¥106,465,700 ($897,000) up 23% from last years Toqger vs Kyoryuger.
Can we all agree this is THE greatest episode title in Sentai history?
It seems like I spoke too soon; the next episode's title is even better.
>Ninninger has higher ratings than both Kyoryu and Toqger
Source? Uptill episode 33 it was the same as ToQger.
>Toqger despite his show was a flop
In what way? The ratigns did not tank any worse than the usual attrition and sales were decent.
The fuck was with that episode?
Titles for the first three episodes of ZyuOhger
>Source? Uptill episode 33 it was the same as ToQger.
Ninninger got better ratings but it started to fall at late 10s. Nevertheless, they were starting to get better.
>In what way? The ratigns did not tank any worse than the usual attrition and sales were decent.
Dude, Toqger is the sentai with the lowest ratings ever. It followed the trend of lower ratings every year since Goseiger until now, except Ninninger had some slight hope of reversing it.
It bucking the downward trend has me wondering if Toei did something different in terms of marketing or if the quality was rewarded with viewership
If ratings keep falling its going to be its fault, right?
>Tfw Toei doesn't even care about your existence
>It bucking the downward trend has me wondering if Toei did something different in terms of marketing or if the quality was rewarded with viewership
Before GoBusters, all of Kobayash's sentai series had an increase in ratings.
I think I already saw these horse masks before on the internet
They're just generic horse masks bro, we had stuff like that in our props box back in drama class.
>[I] Want to Go Back Home, But [I] Can't
I can't wait for the Eva Rebuild jokes to start.
You sure it's not Hotline Miami? Well, okay, there's that one 4chan banner too.
As much as I've loved the ride, Ninninger cannot end soon enough. Muh dick just can't take anymore of these semen demons. I for one welcome our furfag overlords.
Is it too late to get the batch?
Unless you're die the series of course not. Though you might want to check those letters and numbers at the end of the file names to see if the batch episodes are even any different than the ones you already have
Those are those horrifying Archie McPhee horse masks.
>Make-a-movie Day at school
>One group makes a short story about a serial killer wearing one of those masks
>Soda Sentai Bottler
>Kamen Rider Fizz
So Japanese kids respond to familiar themes... What else would be a familiar theme for them to do since they just did the ninja thing? I don't want sentai to die in my life time.
Besides animals and ninjas, off the top of my head there's...
>sci-fi (that doesn't involve military themes)
If Toei wants to be so toy-heavy, might as well go full hog with that.
Could this possibly lead to how PR adapted Ohranger's final fight against Baccushund?
It's all been done. Another city one with people trying to build up a new city through construction and stuff like that would be cool. Would be like a more social Go Go V.
How about a music/dance team?
>Could this possibly lead to how PR adapted Ohranger's final fight against Baccushund?
It's always really weird for me seeing non-monsters and robots turn giant in Sentai. Burai, Sekai, Saya. I dunno why, it's just kinda surreal. Probably because we don't get that sorta thing very often.
I just finished zyuranger and I can say with confidence that abaranger is the best dinosaur sentai by far
but zyuranger is still far better than kyoryuger
aba>power gap>zyu>power gap>kyoryu
My favorite among the Dino sentai and probably the most unique sentai in tone.
it also has the cutest child sentai actress
who is replaced by the ugliest sentai actress with a horrible horrible voice
she's so fucking bad
I hate her so much
Toei should try Mushi Sentai Microger: a season where the mechs are actually human-size and the rangers are very small.
they're both pretty solid, and come in handy here and there
old man is the one that gives them their jackets/place to live
Now that you mention it, that would actually be interesting.
>tfw cheap substitute dress-up dolls get used for lower-budget scenes
>90's CGI kinda turn me off
It's still better than the actual 90's CGI that Gingaman had, at least.
This is all Mikoto's fault.
When an evil empire strikes, a team of discared and outdated cyborgs unite to defend mankind and fuck bitches. They are...
Rider Sentai Kamenger!
Scarves and motorbikes for everyone! Misunderstandings! Dorama!
I love this shit
Kimberly wasnt available when they got them.
They also are the Kakuranger bikes, but Kakuranger didnt have a pink so that may also had to do(that season had to work around that, white and pink rangers had to share a zord because there were no pink mech in muteki daishogun).
Also, Kakuranger's bike finisher was baller.
>Nephew: Why does it say Ninger when they say "NinJA"?
>Me: That's just how the subbers spell it.
I'm hoping it'll do what ToQ did and give everyone unique and different relationships. Also that the girls have a connection that's not "We're friends because we are both girls."
Also that it's better than Ninnin. Ninnin was fun, but the writing was awful.
The issue with Zyuranger is that "kid of the week" format. Too much time was spent on the random kids featured, leaving the main crew bland and undeveloped.
Burai and Bandora's crew were arguably much more interesting than the sentai that year.
As I posted earlier, I made it. I keep an updated Excel file on my computer, thought I would clean it up and post it. It took a long ass time to make and I'm not as into KR as Sentai.
>As I posted earlier, I made it.
Green text is meant to be used for when you're quoting someone. SO I just assumed it was some anon mocking you.
Anyways it's pretty good, thanks a lot anon. I was making one myself as I went through each series, but I'll be using yours as it's a lot more complete, and honestly better than what I had done.
Best sentai villain?
Token kids show up all the time in Sentai, but Sugimura used them the most. Dairanger, Kakuranger, and Ohranger have more than normal, but it's most noticeable in Zyuranger, which was his first show as head writer.
Come to think of it, the whole deal with the Zyuohger component mechs being numbered cubes before transforming is sort a nod to Turboranger, Turbo Builder, isn't it?
>Zyuranger's the exception.
Even then, that's quite understandable because Sugimura liked kids a lot back when he was alive. At some point down the line someone must have told him "less kids, more toys!". Although he did already show some restraint by the middle of Winspector (granted, it is a three-member team rather than five).
He died too young goddamnit.
>if you wanted to stratify Sentai THAT much.
If you were to divide the by cinematography, fight scenes and writing I'd say:
Goranger - Dynaman
Bioman - Changeman
Maskman - Jetman
Zyuranger - Kakuranger
Ohranger - Timeranger
Gaoranger - GoOnger
Shinkenger - Ongoing
Considering that it was the 25th anniversary, the beginning of a new millennium, and introduced significant changes to the Sentai format, I don't think it's unreasonable to call Gaoranger the beginning of a new era of the show.
>Why is Ohranger separated from Sugimura's other shows?
The change in tone and direction in-season is more in line with the shows that came after it.
>Why is Flashman omitted?
That's my bad. I meant Bioman - Flashman
AV of blonde Kasumi on Mangetsu's dick when?
Sorry if someone's already mentioned this, but are the Deathgalian generals meant to represent the big video game companies? Besides the gaming/arcade token power up angle, we have a purple guy, a black/silver guy, a white guy and a green guy. Purple, black, white and green are the colours usually associated with Sega, Playstation, Nintendo and Xbox.
First, purple isn't associated with Sega, as far as I know. If anything, their color would be blue because of their logo color and Sonic. Second, the second guy is more orange and silver than black. Third, Nintendo has never really been associated with white outside of the Nintendo Wii and, to a lesser extent, the Wii U.
>are the Deathgalian generals meant to represent the big video game companies?
>a purple guy, a black/silver guy, a white guy and a green guy. Purple, black, white and green are the colours usually associated with Sega, Playstation, Nintendo and Xbox.
Are you colourblind, my lad?
Nah, if there were such a strong videogame theme, the monsters of the week likely would be based on games (like how Goseiger's monsters were based on movies). But that doesn't seem to be the case so far.
I remember there was some purple marketing stuff for the Saturn. I guess he probably said that due to the Neptunia games though, which use purple for Sega.
Their roll call catchphrase is "GOOBLE GOBBLE ONE OF US, WE ACCEPT YOU, ONE OF US."
Merry Christmas/Hanukkah/Kwanzaa/Hogmanay/New Year/Designated Gifting Period.
Any more scans for Jyuohger?
Well you take a few young, damp people and put them together in a culture that frowns on public interpersonal relationships and you get strong reactions.
if anyone has the Ahim and I think Moune or whoever the fuck Christmas party kiss pic I would greatly appreciate that
How often do sentai groups keep in touch after everything? Is it just another job for most of them, like with movies, or does the nature of sentai get them to meet up some times?
Not as early as this anon is leading you to believe. He ends up as canon fodder for OhBlocker's debut in like episode 34. He survives as a head too but finally bites the dust around episode 40 when he gives the last of his power to Bulldont
They might not post it to public stuff, but I'm sure there has to be groups or partial groups that still talk and get together when they can. Japan is very group-oriented, as you might know.
Groups are always being formed, and when they dissolve, it's not uncommon for them to get back together and meet up for whatever reason to reminisce and reaffirm the group connection, especially if they did something notable or worked together for a while.
I don't know how different actors are from regular people, but most Japanese I've met have been pretty similar when it comes to this regardless of their job or wealth.
I imagine they're too busy to be hanging out all the time, but if the group got on well, they almost surely catch up when they can get together.
>All those backing guitars, drums and trumpets
I'm fucking in love with this OP. It's so hype.
Never mind but I have to ask
Aren't they cousins?
Just watched ToQger Returns. I loved it! Felt great to go back and see the characters again after a while.
I'm not gonna lie, I lost it a bit when Akira shows up in the future and it shows that he had been there the whole time protecting them even if they couldn't see him. Manly tears. And I had the biggest shit-eating grin when everyone transformed at the end and the theme song played through cause I'd been waiting for it the whole movie.
What did you guys think of it? I've more or less enjoyed Ninninger, though it's not really my favorite. To me, this just felt amazing in comparison.
Yeah, it was great, probably the best post-show v-cinema along with dekaranger (go-buster's is good but more as a parody, not as a follow up to the story). I would have liked it more if we saw some kind of closure of Tokatti and Mio's relationship(I mean, I dont expect them to be together as adults, but at least show us how Tokatti decided not to chase her anymore or something), but it's still pretty good.
I just felt kind of off-put by how they handled the Conductor and Wagon, I felt like they should have stayed with their duties instead of rising up the ladder, but I guess that's me not adapting to change.
I was fully expecting Zed to be 7.
Yeah, I was holding out hopes for that, too, until it got leaked. Seems like some wasted potential, but I can't complain too much about wasted missteps when it really did so much right.
I don't mind their promotions so much. If, anything, it's kinda cool that wagon got promoted. I don't really understand why the conductor does what he does right now, but it was fun, and I don't think it detracted from anything.
Have you been watching Ninninger? They've showed some scenes from the VS movie and there's going to be something with those two in that from what I saw.
>Have you been watching Ninninger? They've showed some scenes from the VS movie and there's going to be something with those two in that from what I saw.
I know, but I dont hold my hopes up, they dont give that much of a shit about plot consistency in this show and if they didnt solve it in the movie dedicated to Toqger I doubt they would do it on a movie that they have to share with the ninningers. I hope I'm wrong though.
It wouldn't be the first time a blue died alone, unloved and childless.
oh god it's awesome
>but I can't complain too much about wasted missteps when it really did so much right.
Yeah, the love they paid to the series with the movie was great, especially when it came to how much screentime the kids god, I really hope they go to greater things on top of the ToQ crew.
Amen. So often kid actors just come off as annoying or taking away from the action, but these were highly enjoyable. They really did a great job matching the personalities of the older ToQ while still being themselves.
This is pretty cool while we're being nostalgic.
>The Zyuohger OP
This is the return-to-form I've been waiting all year for.
They are. Recently a lot of them showed up for kagura's stageplay and then they also did that for Hikari's satge play.
They also seem to be close to Kobayashi since a few months after the show ended Kagura posted a picture of her with Kobayashi and Akira. Though Kobayashi seems to get close with a lot of her cast since she did go to one of the Timeranger's weding.
I've never paid attention to screenwriters, but seeing all the stuff he made has me surprised. OOO, ToQ, GoGoV, Shinkenger, and Go-Busters? That's like almost all my faves right there.
>OOO, ToQ, GoGoV, Shinkenger, and Go-Busters?
Not GoGoV, she was only a secondary writer on that. Her other toku related works where she was headwriter included Ryuki Den-O, Gingaman, Timeranger, Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon, ZERO miniseries, and the first GARO anime.
I don't know if this had been shown here, but here is some info from the premiere conference regarding the ranger's personalities as well as some plot tidbits.
>writer and producer worked on Wizard
Please don't let this turn out as boring as Wizard did.
I really hope they don't introduce the sixth as early as last time. I like Kinji well enough, though it's not hard to be better than half the ningers, but ten episodes in is way too soon unless there will be more characters.
I'm actually glad they introduced Kinji so early because the rest of the show was a boring mess. I mean, the robots were fun, but that was about it.
Ninninger's writing had a lot of bad timing now that I think about it.
>Thanks to his King's Credential, Yamato will travel to Zyuland and we learned that everthing in this world are cubes! From cube rocks to cube vegetables!
It really is Minecraftger.
Is MC just now getting popular in Japan? Sorta feels like it's fallen on in the West.
Yeah, but what would have happened if Kinji had been as weak as most of the rest of the cast? He breathed a little life into things, but made it worse when we were left with 25 episodes with nowhere left to go until the end buildup after his stuff was sorted and he slotted in as a constant presence. It's bad work all around, but I still don't like such an early sixth entrance.
You're right; Kinji was fun but it's like they gave us 25 episode of zip then remembered "Oh, right, we're supposed to wrap this shit up."
I think had they just introduced Mangetsu earlier and/or killed off Gabi Raimon and introduced Tsugomori later it would have improved things a little.
Sorry to dump all of this info at the end of a thread, but we have suit actor info as well. Ryoko Gomi (Shironinger, ToQ #3, Kyoryu Cyan [female]) and Ayumi Shimozono (Kyoryu Violet) are 100% confirmed to be portraying ZyuohShark and ZyuohTiger respectively.
The rest of the ranger suit actors are Kousuke Asai (Akaninger, ToQ #6, Kyoryu Green), Yuji Nakata (Aoninger), and Yasuhiro Takeuchi (Kininger, ToQ #4, Kyoryu Black, etc.). This is a bit of speculation on my part, but there is a very strong possibility that Asai is ZyuohEagle (his second red ranger) considering he has top billing from the JAE website.
Mizuho Nogawa (Momoninger, ToQ #5, Kyoryu Pink, etc.) and Masashi Takada (Starninger, ToQ #2, Kyoryu Blue) are not currently listed as participating in Zyuohger.
I'm really hoping against hope that Minecraft isn't their only influence, especially considering the retro game motif the villains have.
What was that PS3 game where it was made to look like an 80's rpg, but in 3D, with 3D pixels that you could customize? I I'm hoping it will be more like that.
Man, it always interests me how these guys can play such different personalities. I really need to pay more attention to their work so I can appreciate it better. Thanks for the info, anon. It's something I probably wouldn't have looked up on my own.
Yeah, that's the one. Thanks, I couldn't remember the title.
Further speculation: based on actor heights, Takeuchi is likely portraying ZyuohLion, while Nakata has the part of ZyuohElephant.
Best suit actor is playing best ranger
Valentine's Day if you want to catch live,
That's all for me tonight. If all this shit doesn't get reposted at the beginning of the next thread, I'll do it when I wake up. Hope most of it was new info for you guys!
Has a clearer scan of this turned up anywhere yet? I want to get a better look at the coin the continue coin. From this it looks like it's supposed to have the enemy faction's logo on it, but looks like it's split open or cracked for some reason.
Damn, Dangarangers was such a good follow up to MMPR back in the day. I wonder why it never got localized.
The downside is O-T are having a lot of problems with the DVDs for Timeranger, so I hope that you are patient.
She did do some Gokaiger episodes though.
>Soda > Kobayashi > Arakawa > Uehara > everyone else
I would rank Urusawa above Uehara, though, even if he only wrote for one series.
A lot of people here said that Go-Busters was the shitiest sentai ever
(because it aired after muh Gokaiger, among other reasons)and now it's praised like it is the holy grail...
Sentai has used a lot of monsters over the years, from various mythologies and other sources. What kind of monsters would you like to see used in the future? Maybe theres some kind of folklore or mythology you'd like to see represented at some point.
I would love to see the return of Greek mythologyy, Bandora crew had some awesome monster designs that season. Give things like Youkai a rest, since we had those already in Shinkenger and now Ninninger.
Defenders of Tír na nÓg, Fianna Sentai Eirenger!
All I got so far is Fionn is the Red, Cú Chulainn is the sixth, Cumhall is the mentor/Extra, and the villains are the Fomorians, with Diarmuid and Fergus as the generals and Meave is the main villain, serving under Balor.
Who's ready for Goranger shenanigans in MGSV?
The uploader has not made this video available in your country.
>Sorry about that.

Requesting a ban please and thanks.
>friend swears Elena is the daughter of Hikaru and Urara
>Tell her that's not possible because she'd call Tsubasa uncle instead of sensei when they encounter
>she swears she only calls him this out of respect
>explain that if she were their kid it would have been stated as such
>completely ignores me still considers Elena their kid
Cubed Fruits too?
That's pretty cute.
What if Yakumo didn't know who were parents were? He wouldn't be able to mention it, then. If the sensei thing holds true, there's no reason to bring it up.
I know I'm being a dickbag enabler, but that's because I'm jealous. I want a girl to want sentai with. The few friends I have that like sentai are all
faggots. It's just not the same...
We watch it separately. She's a shipper fag and dumb. Having a female friend doesn't mean we're spooning and I'm getting a tug job. She can be just as annoying as a guy friend who doesn't know when to shut up or control themselves.
That's fair. And no shit, or I would have said some 'no sentai-watching gf' crap. I just mean I think it'd be fun to know a girl that was into sentai. For the novelty if nothing else. I think girls shipping everything is cute in it's own way, so it doesn't bother me much, but I can sympathize with dumb friends in general.
Honestly, a girl watching sentai isn't all that novel or cute. One of my sentai bros is a girl and she doesn't ship everything. We watch sentai and kamen rider together sometimes and it's usually just us eating chips and getting hype.
Nah. As far as I know her only ship is Kinji and Kasumi and she never really talks about it. She does call Kinji her son which is a little weird, but I never thought of her liking sentai as especially novel.
Holy shit that's fucking SICK
