End of Evangelion isn't plagiarism of "The General Zapped an Angel", because "The General Zapped an Angel" is a collection of short stories, none of which has a plot which is identical to any plotline in Evangelion. Your only point of evidence is one of the three different cover art pieces that the book has been published under, none of which actually show anything relevant to the content of the book itself, and between which there are substantial differences enough to prevent any legal action. For much the same reason as why, after the filmography of Alfred Hitchcock, it isn't plagiarism to shoot scenes of stairwells as long as you do not literally re-use his footage.

I don't see why people get upset about Evangelion's relationship with other series. Yeah, Anno put a LOT of scenes, designs, references, influences, elements, whatever into Evangelion. It's not a worse work for it.
What I think is that people either get upset at most Eva fans being ignorant little shits spouting nonsensical praises and hardcore Eva fans feel like others are saying Eva is worthless. Stop being so reactionary.
