To answer the question last thread, no, making Sentai like early Heisei Kamen Rider would not help it. Sentai has always basically been the lighter one of the two.

The focus on the female members, you can really notice they wanted to make Yellow Four(the name) special by giving her her own bike and both of them have the strongest personalities. I liked both of them actually, Jun more, although that comparison may not be fair. The suits and Bio Robo look great. Silva could use more fleshing out, but was likable enough, so was Magne Warrior. Also, the fights and stuntwork were good.

Silva and Ryuta could use better personalities. Also, Mason and Farrah were sort of samey and very irrelevant.

The plot could be a bit better, Silva got sort of repetitive too when the only thing he did was shooting things and saying "If only I had balzion". I'd put it just below top tier, but it was hard.

Fortunately, this was when sentai was more scifi and less tied to motifs

Depends on what you're looking for. The premise is very bland and so are most of the characters at first, although the rangers, with the exception of Fuuka, all get better in some ways. The action is decent and the plot is, for the most part, solid, even if simplistic and sort of predictable. The villains suck though.

That was it. Fujioka was seriously injured (some say he nearly died), and it sidetracked the show immensely. After the accident the first few episodes feature Hongou (Rider 1) in transformed mode only, until they transferred the protagonist role to Takeshi Sasaki (Hayato Ichimonji).

When a face actor gets injured you have to delay shooting or scramble to find a replacement. When a stuntman/suit actor is injured you replace them with an understudy.

Power Rangers is an adaptation of Super Sentai, and often a very loose one. A few season, like Time Force for example, stick surprisingly close to the source material. Most seasons however borrow little more than the costumes and do a full rewrite, sometimes from the ground up.

Sentai obviously has cultural differences compared to PR. Humor, drama, character interactions, in-jokes and references, are all drastically different. If you aren't familiar with Japanese culture or pop culture, the difference can be somewhat jarring.

Moreover, many people consider Sentai the more "mature" version, since PR often goes for the goofy kiddy humor. Not to say that Sentai isn't kiddy. Being perfectly honest, it is technically aimed at young kids just like PR is, but again because of cultural differences, the end results tends to be viewed by English speakers as generally more grown up. Not as much as Kamen Rider, but generally.

Sentai is also typically longer than a season of PR, clocking in at 48-52 episodes per season. It's definitely worth looking into if you're even a bit curious. Coming off of PR, good starting seasons are GoGo Sentai Boukenger (basis for Operation Overdrive), Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger (Basis for S.P.D.) or even the recent Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger (Dino Charge). There's even a season that was never made into a PR, Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters, which is very different from typical season but is well received for being unique.

Barring something huge happening in the next few episodes, my Ninninger ratings.

Whoops, got that reversed. Zyuden Sentai Kyoryuger was the recent one, Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger was the 90's season that was used to make the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers.

On that note, if you want to get into classic Sentai, that is also a good place to start to see how different Zyuranger is compared to MMPR. In Zyuranger, the rangers are prehistoric tribesmen from the past, brought to the presents by dinosaur gods, who also happen to their robots. Yeah man, the "zords" were originally god-like dinosaur deities.

Pre-Zyu Sentai is very hit or miss for some. It's delightfully retro and has that unique 70's/80's appeal, but is also strikingly formulaic and very sedimentary at times.

The original Goranger is the one that started it all, and like the original Kamen Rider, is a landmark series that feels very different from current seasons. Noteworthy seasons to check out are Taiyou Sentai Sun Vulcan, famous for being both one of the most popular early seasons, and one of the strangest. It's odd sight gags and humor alone are worth the look. Chojin Sentai Jetman is the season that many consider the quintessential early Sentai. This was the season that came directly before Zyuranger, and is still the season that many people think of when they think of classic Sentai.
