Axis Neo Zeong/Glemy faction were the best at making Prototype to MP, with most seeming to be on the same preformance level.

And in the case of the Qubeley better in every regard sans speed, and even then it doesn't seem like it's that much slower, and the extra funnels and cannons make up for that.

Pretty much any VF, I suppose? Macross basically doesn't do the super prototype with one or two exceptions, and unlike Gundam they are ACTUALLY prototypes in that within a couple of years those fighters go into mass production and cease to be special.

The difference between a grunt VF and an Ace VF is who is piloting it, and if you really make a name for yourself a coat of paint.

It's still around. Most of the ones used by the Federation are gone, because the MP MkII is kind of shit, but you have one that you can use if you really really want to.

Now this guy here on the other hand. This guy made it through the DC War, the Inspectors, the ODE Incident, and the Sealing War, and it's still being used because there's nothing that can be done to improve on its design for what it does.

when it comes to mass-produced mechs, it's hard to beat the Alseides guymelefs from Escaflowne. The simply outclassed all other guymelefs we saw on Gaia that wasn't some one-of-a-kind magical mech.

It could fly. It could turn invisible. It can shoot flames. It's ability to manipulate metal allows it to from a swore, claw, spear, etc which gives it several options for close-quarters combat. By using the liquid metal in a certain way, it can even snipe a target from a long distance -- nothing else we saw in the series has something even remotely similar.

The only thing that we know of that punched through PPB was a heavy anti-ship cannon from the Vajra, the species that the Protoculture based their tech on.

How terrifying is the Vajra? Well, whatever technology humanity have in Macross, they already had them for god knows how many fucking years, even before the Protoculture.
They are spacebugs that CAN go FTL on their own(Every single adult Vajra), have a galactic hivemind network with zero time lag, they grow beam cannons, guns, and missiles from their body, and the Queen can use dimensional faults as shields.
