Say what you will about the story for SRWJ, the SEED Stages were among the most fun for me to play. In most cases, all of the units you needed to fight were right there, and no bullshit gimmicks either. The longest stage is what, the second wave of the Orb invasion?

It also helps that they aren't forcing you to 60000 HP Grunts all of the time, like with the FMP/Zeorymer stages or these endless Beargelgoogs with 15000 HP all the time.

Alpha 3 had a lot going for it on all of its depts.

Alpha 2 was tremendouslly succesfull by bringing back the continuity after several years, Alpha 3 was the same reaction. brought back everything GOOD about SRWFF and none of the bad. Carried every single bit of late game excitement as it could.

But at the end it was all nostalgia.

Just let me point you to one moment in time. When Banpreios was announced. Everyone was asking what the fuck happened with the SRX team and suddenly BAM! new SRX, edgier and even more katoki-ish than ever! what could go wrong? nothing did IMHO.

but that was all a recalling. A recalling to games past with just a dash of polish to make it clean.

2nd OG was a serious improvement over OGs. it reused SOME of the movement patterns but every bit was better. Choreography at its best as pointed out by >>13780191 my only gripe issat' Hugo should've screamed EXPLOTION! with more motion.

Z1 was brand new, clean, brought everything good out of Alpha Gaiden and improved on it. Gave us the best rendition of Grendizer to date. Made every old series look great and every new series look cool.

Z2 onwards decided to not only reuse assets in the worst way possible but make every new attack rendition worse with each game. Also, Z series can't do build up at all. Every game tried to be a final game on its final stages, making the final battle on Z3.2 completly soul-less. The Edel Bernal in Z1 was the better villain solely on the grounds of its madness and the fact that he indeed pulled every string "for shits and giggles".

Alpha 3 is still my favourite SRW to date, but solely on nostalgia factor, and I cannot but see how Terada is pulling better and better OG games with time. I wish I could say the same about mainstream titles.

Alpha 3 has plenty of its own problems. Asakim's twist is something that explains a lot of his strange behavior in the past and fits with what we already knew about him while also being something few people predicted. Even Advent works, in fact I like a lot of the things that are done with him. Hibiki gave us memes for days and greatly surpassed most protagonists for how well he interacts with the non-OG cast. Doctrine, Tempti and Sacrifi are completely inexcusable, though. None of them work as characters or as antagonists, and it's with their introduction that the last act of the game starts relying far too heavily on the "beyond human comprehension" shtick that just doesn't work. Keisar Ephes is basically a non-character who has no buildup or foreshadowing of any kind and basically nothing to do with the plot about the universe collapsing other than killing him somehow fixing it, but he does still have an air of menace about him that the Angels largely lack.

Kouji was lame in this game, so I avoided him. The rest of the list was skipped because I wanted to see if a high evasion playthrough was possible. Unfortunately, it wasn't very enjoyable since enemies just avoided things they couldn't hit.
