Are there any mecha series that are just good ole fashioned space action adventures like the original Gundam?

Layzner
Vifam. It even has the original concept Gundam was going to use (Two Years' Vacation in space, as kids take on evil adults).

VIFAM
Dragonar (carbon copy of 0079)
Ideon (slightly more bleak)Reco(much more fragmented and bizarre)

Second half of Danguard Ace
Daikengo
Tekkaman
Everybody already said everything I was gonna say.
Uh, Nadesico I guess?

Gunbuster and Diebuster are great space adventures.
I really liked the slow style of Victory and Zeta as well but neither are as good as 0079. Any Tomino Gundam, really
Gakusaver is kind of stupid in terms of plot but is quite well done
SDF Macross, or Macross DYRL, both are very good. Also Macross II.
Space Pirate Captain Harlock is really dated (Way more than 0079) but is still pretty good.

Are you fucking kidding me? There are loads.
Macross
Galaxy express 999
Space battleship Yamato
Outlaw Star
LotGH
Zeta Gundam
Captain Harlock
Basically anything created by Leiji Matsumoto.
I forgot to mention Giant Gorg
Watch Giant Gorg

Although you did get the "action adventure" parts right.
Kinda obvious, but Cowboy Bebop is a good one
Nadesico should fit the bill.
Not strictly mecha, but you also need to watch The Irresponsible Captain Tylor.

After War X fits the bill too.
>>13775817
SDF Macross

Zeta. Definitely Zeta.
It's got some melodrama, but every episode is an action-packed adventure for the heroes.
