That said, the industrial and logistical cost of them would have have probably ended the war a little earlier, and it'd make a pretty kick-ass exhibit for a ticket holder at the Kubinka Tank Museum. So we missed out.

The biggest issue with the land invasion of Russia was absolutely SHIT CROPS ANYWHERE. Napoleon's armies moved quickly, ahead of their supplies, and took food from nature and surrounding villages as they went to supplement themselves while the supply trains caught up. There simply wasn't anything in Russia to take or steal.

The bad weather later just compounded this problem, but it's not like Napoleon said, "All right, let's attack Russia as soon as the snows fall. Yeah, you'll be fine in your board shorts, mon ami." They seriously thought there'd be food, the roads wouldn't be completely terrible, and the supply trains would catch up. In essence, they overestimated how developed of a place Russia was.

Both Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan were aware that they could never beat the Allies in quantity. They were always going to be out-produced. So by default they HAVE to design weapons that, in theory, could win against overwhelming numbers.

Unfortunately, just because you built a ship or a gun that costs 10 times more than usual, it doesn't mean it would be 10 times more effective.

Superweapons was the Axis' only chance at victory. Bad for them and good for the Allies, it was the Americans who came up with a super-weapon that worked. The nuke.

Hitler and Napoleon would have been unstoppable if armed with mobile suits simply because nothing of those eras could penetrate mobile suit armour. MS could very well kill entire armies of tens of thousands of men with their feet alone, eventually, simply because of how impenetrable gundarium and even zaku-level steel armour was. Furthermore, a system of that size is not going to be hindered by the weather conditions anymore simply by means of how much raw torque and force they generate. Cold is never a hindrance to space-developed systems, and mud and precipitation stop being a problem when MS are underwater-capable.
