Easily the best Zaku series in the last 20 years, complex, fleshed out characters, great mechs and a good setting too, character design and music rocks too.

Maybe they're going a bit too fast for a 2 cours show though, it's been like, 10 episode so far and they already got from Earth to Mars in no time.

If only, I'm growing tired of all those Armored Core stuff they throw around, we got, what, 14 games, 3 or so spinoffs, two anime series and a 9 episode OVA that nobody even wanted since the series already covered most of the games' plot anyway.

CGI is getting worse, too, and at a rather fast pace. If the current trend is to be believed, the future for mecha anime is looking pretty bleak.

You know, I think studio Orange is really great. Their mechs don't look like an oversaturated mess of vomit, and the way they move is really great. Fight choreography is full of style and soul as well. I hope they keep putting money into it because CG hasn't already been around for decades, and it clearly just needs a few more years for them to hone an already pretty great craft. They definitely don't need to just try paying real animators a decent wage or learn to schedule productions better.

Yeah but they can do it, so they really like to show it off. Nothing more I like than watching a mech fight with them zipping about aimlessly through the air shooting blind fire lasers with the camera swirling and rotating to create a sense of motion. That's much better than carefully drawn frames with carefully laid out positioning. I especially love when they use that one sound effect that totally isn't overused that's the high bass impact bang noise any time a mech so much as bumps its knee. Comet Lucifer had some awesome fights scenes thanks to CG and that sfx.
